This was my first time reading this author and it was a good read! The book started out with a bang and didn't let up. Now I did call one twist, but there was another one that left me stunned. Well played, Steve Cavanagh. Now as far as the ending goes I'm not 100% sure how I feel because I felt one character got off way too easy and the one good deed doesn't eliminate all of the other terrible things they did throughout the story.

As soon as I got the approval for this audiobook, I put my current read to the side and I don’t regret it at all. This story was so good and I finished this audiobook in two days. This book touched on several social themes and issues, but not in an overwhelming way. There was one scene with Titus and his mother towards the end that made me emotional. As someone who has questioned their faith many times, I understand his viewpoint. This read was heavy at times due to the subject matter, but I’m glad I stuck with this story. Adam Lazarre-White did a great job with this narration as always.

I found this story to be really boring and all over the place. The ending was a letdown. The twist weren’t shocking. I listened to the audiobook and felt it would have been better suited to have dual narrators. I also felt that the killers voice was similar to one of the main characters voice and I would get confused as to who’s point of view I was listening to at times. I have read other books by this author in the last year, but sadly this one fell completely flat for me. ...more

I’ve heard good things about They Wish They Were Us and this is why I wanted to read this book.
I struggled big time with this book. Even though I’m an adult I do appreciate a good young adult novel and this story just didn’t work out for me. I had a hard a time getting into the story and found myself losing focus on the story while reading.
I also felt that Ellie and Stella pretty much had the same personality. I’m not sure if it was meant to be that way since they are sisters, but sisters do have differences.
Since I didn’t want to give up hope on this story I borrowed the audiobook from the library and that still couldn’t hold my attention. I ended up skipping to the back of the book to see who the killer was and the reasoning and I found that to be a lackluster ending.

Not going to lie this book took me a long time to get into and I thought about throwing in the towel. A little voice told me to keep going and I'm glad I stuck it out. The twists upon twists in this book had my jaw dropping and I loved how it all played out. I will say that I didn't feel the chemistry/connection between Oliver and Ciara. It felt very bland and I felt like that part of the story wasn't fully developed. This was my first time reading anything by this author and I will def check out her back list of books. ...more

The book started off very slow for me and I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue. Then it picked up once Robbie steps on the scene. As the story went along it became predictable and I really had to suspend reality for this plot be believable. I ended up skimming the last few chapters and the way it unfolded was decent. This is the second book that I have read by this author and it was a miss for me again. Time to part ways....more

Then I got to the middle of the book and I felt like the story lost steam and it was pretty much a journey of Wren trying to come to grips with her childhood trauma. The last part of the book did pick of steam and held my attention, but I did feel some type of way about the ending. Overall, I would read another book by this author....more

All the characters are slightly unlikable which I loved. I was very surprised with the killer. I didn’t see that coming at all! The story is told in a dual past/present timeline and I enjoyed the way it all came together. I read this book in two days after being in a major slump. This is a solid debut by Ashley Winstead and a perfect summer thriller!

I had really high hopes for this book based off the blurb and was really let down when the book was over. The story was boring and extremely slow paced. Charlie was mundane and the whole movies in her head didn’t work for me. The ending was lackluster as well. There was only one twist that I really liked, plus the narrator was good and that’s why I gave this story 3 stars....more
