I normally don't read chick lit but every once in awhile I take a chance on this genre. While reading Faking It I could imagine how funny this would be as an audiobook. Hearing the inflections in the voices would really bring the humor to life.
If you enjoy chick movies than this book will tickle your funny bone with the comical banter and situations.

One thing I've come to appreciate about her works is the inclusion of intriguing medical conditions, although not in all of her books. This particular story introduces us to Sadie, who develops a rare condition called apperceptive prosopagnosia after a brain procedure. This condition, also known as face blindness, renders her unable to cognitively process faces. Interestingly, I had learned about this condition when it was revealed that Brad Pitt himself experiences face blindness.
Sadie's newfound blindness becomes a significant obstacle in her career as a portrait artist. Additionally, her initial encounter with a guy in her apartment building, Joe, leaves her unimpressed, as she overhears a negative phone conversation he's involved in. However, as Joe starts assisting her, she begins to warm up to him, despite her conflicted feelings. Complicating matters further, Sadie finds herself attracted to Dr. Addison, the veterinarian caring for her dog, and the feeling are mutual.
While the story does contain a twist seasoned romance readers might anticipate it from early on but will undoubtedly enjoy the pleasant surprise.
Ms. Center has firmly secured a spot on my list of favorite authors because I have thoroughly enjoyed every book I've read by her.

Amy Harmon is a favorite author of mine. She writes the most unique stories that keep the reader coming back for more. While at the library I saw a lady holding one of Ms. Harmon's books and we got into a fun conversation while we waited to check out our books. I was able to recommend more books by Ms. Harmon after hearing what kind of books she liked to read. I had a great time discussing all the unique facets of Ms. Harmon's books with this lady.

Her checklist includes: 1) making partner at her firm 2) getting a condo in Texas with her boyfriend
Her job has her going to Seattle to help a company that is failing. During that time she starts to discover her boyfriend is a snob and not someone she actually likes.
As the story moves along Dylan comes to the realization of what is important to her and what she really wants in her life. This awareness has her realizing that what she originally put on her checklist might not be what she really wants in her life.
Even though the book is marketed as a rom-com it felt more like Women's Fiction. Readers who enjoy the heroine finding her voice and paving her own path will enjoy this story.

I started this series with this book which happens to be the third in the series. While it can be read as a standalone I’m sure if I started with the first book and continued in ascending order I would have had a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the plotline. There’s an overall arc throughout these stories that help tie everything together.
Shattered By You is a dark romance. It’s been years since I’ve read a dark romance and I had forgotten how addicting they are with their intense storylines.
Ms. Rose’s writing was well done. She created a world where I could feel the character’s pain and the adrenaline coursing through their bodies. Love songs are made out of what Haven & Crisis endured to be together.
Haven’s character is one of perseverance and survival. She has spent her life forced into selling her body and to keep her compliant she was drugged to make her reliant on the people who controlled her life.
Crisis is in a famous band and known for his manwhorish ways. But what people around him hadn't noticed was that he had stopped jumping from bed to bed as he was preparing himself to be there for Haven when she was ready to let someone into her life. He wanted to be that someone.
SHATTERED BY YOU ♦ dark romance ♦ Haven is a survivor of abuse (sex and drugs) ♦ Haven is detached ♦ Haven is Ream’s twin ♦ Crisis is Ream’s band member ♦ Crisis’s parents adopted Ream
Darker romance readers if you haven’t already read this series get to it.
WHOA!! What did I just read?!! To say I was thrown for a loop several times in this book is an understatement. At one point I'm heading north and thenWHOA!! What did I just read?!! To say I was thrown for a loop several times in this book is an understatement. At one point I'm heading north and then the next moment I'm heading Northeast and then BAM I'm driving past a train wreck and I can't look away. Then as I think we're back on track I start to veer to the south and finally, I'm going west towards the ocean where I get slammed by a tsunami of more mystery.
Chapter 25 had me pulling the car over to message my friend, Christy, to ask her what she had gotten me into. *lol* I mean, I did see the foreshadowing happening early on in the story but to actually see it come to fruition was on a whole another level.
I'll admit at times I questioned what I was reading and tried to make sense of it. As I've heard that is pretty common and as you get further in the book more stuff starts to come together. I have to admit it is fun reading and not knowing where the story is going to take you. That is something that becomes harder to do for a reader who has read a lot of books. Well done to the author! I enjoyed the wild ride.
The Ravehood series is a continuing story!
The audio was well done! Both narrators were excellent and added flavor to the story.

YES!!! This book was everything I had hoped for when I heard Amy Harmon had a book coming out about a songwriter and a singer that is set in New York YES!!! This book was everything I had hoped for when I heard Amy Harmon had a book coming out about a songwriter and a singer that is set in New York City in the 1960s.
I love podcasts and this book starts out with Benny Lament being interviewed on the radio. Benny tells the story of how he came from a mob family to becoming famous. Another favorite of mine is autobiographies/memoirs/biographies and now that I'm done with the book I can see how it had that feeling too. The Songbook of Benny Lament had a good mixture of podcasts (radio) and memoir vibes.
Esther Mine is a powerhouse singer. She's small in stature but her voice is big. As a Black woman navigating the music world she experiences plenty of racial injustices and biases. New York City in the '60s had its fair share of violence and racial discrimination. I wasn't alive in the '60s but it is crazy to me that some of these same issues are still happening today.
I love when a book feels so real that you want to google the people so you can see photos and find out tidbits about them but then you remember this a fiction book.
I enjoyed this so much I have it in 3 forms: paperback, kindle, and audiobook. I recently listened to it and loved it. You can't go wrong with whatever version you decide to read.

There are 3 main characters in this story: Layla, Leeds, and Willow. Layla and Leeds meet at Layla's sister's wedding. The attraction between them was instant. From that moment on they became a couple.
Through social media, Leeds ex-girlfriend finds out about this new budding relationship happening between him and Layla. His ex turns into a stalker and comes for the happy couple.
This is where Willow enters the story. She is trying to help Leeds and Layla except Layla isn't aware Willow is trying to help them.
Does the story sound like it's getting messy, yet? That's the thing with CoHo books you have to trust the process. There have been books that I wasn't sure how the loose ends were going to tie up but every time CoHo pulls it off. This was another example of that - I kept telling myself let's see how this all comes together.
I can't go too much more into the storyline because the reader will want the experience of wondering what the heck is happening and how it's going to all workout.
LAYLA is a standalone. One thing I've learned from reading this book and CoHo's other book, Verity, IF the title is a woman's name the reader is in for some craziness. *lol*...more

Reel has two strong women stories in it - one who is from now and one is from the past. The strength of these two women, Neevah & Dessi, is the heartbeat running throughout the pages. Both women have a story that deserves to be told. Neevah is a stand-in actress who happens to be discovered during one of her fill-in performances and chosen to portray a strong Black woman, Desi, whose story isn’t widely known.
“Do you have any idea how many Dessi Blues there are? Black artists who shaped our culture, made our music, but whose contributions have gone unacknowledge? Their stories just slipped through the cracks. People who, by all rights, should be household names, but nobody knows their names? All they have to show for what they did is a plaque in their hometown or a line on Wikipedia, if that.”
I love that Neevah & Dessi lives, sort of, mirror each other. Even though they are living in different time periods they have a lot of similarities - a forbidden romance, performers, family turmoil, traveling, etc . . .
I did a mixture of reading this book and listening to it. I've been on a listening kick this year and I wanted to make sure I listened to part of this book. I enjoyed both reading and listening to REEL. Reel is 16 hours and 21 minute audiobook.

THE DATING GAME questions with Conor & Taylor:
1. TAYLOR, WHAT DID YOU KNOW ABOUT CONOR PRIOR TO MEETING HIM? ”He’s on the hockey team and a regular face at the parties on Greek Row. A regular face in the sorority beds on Greek Row, too. But his real claim to fame is being arguably the hottest new guy in the junior class.”
2. WHAT DID YOU THINK OF TAYLOR WHEN YOU FIRST SAW HER? ”She’s like a walking pinup girl.”
3. CONOR, FOR YOUR FAKE RELATIONSHIP HOW’D YOU MAKE IT OFFICIAL? ”Taylor March, will you do me the incredible honor of updating your relationship status [on Facebook] and becoming my fake girlfriend?.”
4. PLEASE TELL US WHAT YOU SAID TO TAYLOR’S MOM WHEN YOU FIRST MET HER. “Nice to meet you, Doctor Mom - I mean Doctor Marsh. F*ck.”
5. TAYLOR, PLEASE SUM UP YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CONOR. ”Sometimes we make all the wrong decisions, end up in all the wrong places, and still find exactly where we’re supposed to be. Conor’s my happy accident. My wrong place, wrong time, exactly right guy.”
Now you’ve gotten to know a little more about Conor & Taylor. A story about Mr. Popular and the wallflower where a sorority party dare kicks off their fake relationship.
THE DARE is the fourth book in a spin-off series: Briar U. It can be read as a standalone. It's a sports/college romance that revolves around a fake relationship that turns real. Along the way, their past comes to haunt them. Fans of this genre are going to love this book.

How does Ms. Ryan keep bringing the fire to her books?! She creates books that reach down and touch your soul! I’m in awe of the way she is able to bring so much realism to her characters and situations. I thought at one point I might know what Kimba’s health issue might be because almost all romance books with characters who have similar symptoms seem to turn out a certain way but I was wrong. And after all these years of reading romance, it’s nice to still get surprised by seeing something you don’t normally see in this genre.
“Don’t try to re-write history because the truth is suddenly not as convenient.”
When I saw how messy the Ezra & Kimba’s lives were becoming I wondered how this story was going to play out. Would things just become convenient and they’d ride off into the sunset? Or would these two be faced with hard choices that would leave them to conquer their mountains? Thankfully, these two had to face their issues and get through it which made me love them even more as individuals.
In The Kingmaker we are introduced to Kimba. In that book, I wanted to be Kimba because she was Lennix’s best friend and I so admired Lennix’s tenacity. Now that Kimba has gotten her own book to tell her story it confirmed what I knew back then - I picked a good person to be.
Queen Move is a standalone. If you want to catch more of Kimba prior to this story you can see her in The Kingmaker. Ezra & Kimba’s love story is made up of childhood friendship with a second-chance romance as adults. READ THIS STORY

Last year the writing duo of Christina Lauren seemed to have predicted the real-life break up of a well-known husband/wife team in the book world. When I first started The Honey-Don't List I got the feeling I was reading about this real-life couple who a month ago announced on Instagram they were calling it quits. Like the secondary characters in the book, this couple had built a social media following that afforded them the lifestyle they were living. Through their conferences and book tours, they were able to influence followers on their seemingly perfect marriage. The Honey-Don’t List felt like a glimpse into the behind the scenes of this real-life couple’s life.
Okay, now onto the book … the story is actually about the assistants to the married couple. The married couple started out small and over time grew a large social media following. The fame gets to the couple and the assistants are left mopping up the couple's messes. The reader follows the two assistants and watches the slow burn of their relationship.
The Honey-Don't List is a standalone. If you liked the Netflix movie, Set It Up, then this book is up your alley. Two assistants who overtime realize it’s better to work together than to be enemies with each other. A relationship blossoms as they work around their problematic bosses.
