Ok, nope. The chick was an idiot!!! And so was the dude! Both of them!! Gah, where do I even begin!
The only good thing about this book is that it was fast paced. It was a fast read (although I did skim a lot, so there's that...).
So, we've got this chick who's stalking a guy since she was 6 years old (now she's 22). And I mean real stalking, from following him (Finn) around to breaking into his apartment and buying pets for "the two of them", because they love each other. He's just too shy to express his feelings.
Then, out of the blue, the guy's brother appears (she didn't know about him, it's not like she stalked Finn, how could she have known he has a BROTHER who just happens to be a BILLIONAIRE?! I mean, nah, a person like that would never come up in conversations... ever... not once in 12 years...).
Anyway, this brother appears and, after a few hours with him, she decides she loves him. He is 34 years old but he acts worse than a teenager, he makes no sense, he's an idiot. But hey, he's a billionaire, he has to make up for all the stupidity going on in his head... [image]
Up until now, it was a 2-star read. But guess what?! No, you can't leave a book at being bad, you just have to make it awful!
After a lot of weird, logicless (if that's a word) events, the guy (the brother, not the one who was stalked) finds out (view spoiler)[ he has a fucking kid!! (hide spoiler)]. I mean, where does that come into the story?! And she's acting even stranger than before...
All in all, this is the kind of "Fuck logic" kind of book. [image]...more

I'm not gonna rate this book because I absolutely loved the writing style. Have you seen Sin City, that black&white and a-few-other-colors movies? [image]
Well, this book felt exactly like that. I have no idea why, but for some reason it made me think of that movie. It's not the plot or the characters, it's just the writing style. It felt like it was written in black and white and, from time to time, that spectacular red made you take notice of a phrase or a moment. Does that make any sense? [image]
Anyway, I hated the chars but I loved the writing style. It's worth trying at least, it's definitely different from what you're probably used to....more

I really didn't like the male character, no clue how old he was but he acted like a 13 year old. No, scratch that, I know 13 year olds who are so much better than him! Sorry, maybe he has a good reason... But I wasn't curious enough to find out.
It might be my fault for not liking this book, not the other way around. But ah well, you'll just have to find out for yourself I guess.

I mean, it wasn't a bad book. But it wasn't good either... It was just kind of meh . It was really predictable (nothing new here, 90% of romances are), but this was not the interesting kind of predictable but the boring kind. Ok, to put it in a different way, instead of being [image]

For once, I can't rate a DNFed book. But this time it wasn't the book's fault (I hope), it was mine (kind of...). I like badass characters, interesting plots and (at least) decent writing. Here, the characters were pretty weak (maybe they change, but I'm in no mood to stay and find out) and the plot was boring and not for me.
Gahhh! Can someone be more of an idiot than the female main char from this book? Ok, probably, but really, I wouldn't want toNo! And I mean NO!

So, this girl (she's 30 something but I can't call her anything else) is a spoiled little brat with big daddy issues. She has all the money in the world, but boo hoo, her daddy doesn't love her! So she decides to become a slut. But wait! She doesn't really want to be one! She's just confused! She wants to change but noo, she wants her daddy to love her! It's not like she can do anything with her life... I mean, all she does all day is go out, complain about being a slut and saying she hates herself, then at night she goes out and guess what?! Yup, she acts like a little bitch while thinking that "ohh, poor little me! I need to change, people treat me bad, I wonder why!"
And then she starts to have problems (yes, I did manage to read enough to see what happens. I guess I like to suffer). And she wonders why she has them!
Gahhhh! How can anyone be that much of an idiot? Or a spoiled little brat?! Maybe I'm being harsh... Ok, on second thought, nope, I'm not.

1.5 Why did this book have such a high rating?!?! [image]
So, I have a bit of a book hangover. I've read something that I can't get over yet, so I said 1.5 Why did this book have such a high rating?!?! [image]
So, I have a bit of a book hangover. I've read something that I can't get over yet, so I said I'll take it slow, go with easy, fun stuff. I found this book, saw the high rating and not too bad plot, said I'd give it a try. Well now, that was a mistake.
I can (almost) ignore all the grammar mistakes (and there are not a few, mind you). I won't stop reading a book, even though the author seems to have a problem with your/you're, I can almost say it's not her fault. [image]
But the story is incredibly stupid! And the characters are idiots, especially the MC! Gahhhh! She's a really weak character and I normally don't like females like that. But well, we all have our weak side, right, that shouldn't be a problem. I would have finished the book if that was her only problem. But she is an idiot. She's a 12 year old. She is... nope, just nope. And he's not far behind either! I mean, even just to handle her, to actually like all the tantrums she throws at him. No self-respecting man (guy/person/animal/whatever) would be able to handle such a stupid person. [image]
Why not just 1 star, and 1.5? The first 10% of the book were decent. I would have given it -1 star if I had ended up finishing it, I'm pretty sure the MC would have gotten more and more annoying. ...more

The main characters were idiots! Gwen (the main female one) seemed promising the first 30% of the book. Then something happened: she became an idiot. That's when the bad guy first appeared. He was suppose to be the smartest of them all and well, he was so smart that everyone else actually became idiots. The male character was suppose to be 600-something years and gah! He was worse than a 14 year old hormonal boy! At one point (view spoiler)[ the two were at the bad guy's house, spying, when he decided he really needed to have sex with Gwen. So they go at it against a tree and just when they finish she is almost killed because, oops, they were too busy and weren't paying attention (hide spoiler)]. The only character I liked was the bad guy. He took advantage of the fact that all the rest were idiots and managed to do what he planned. Go go bad guy!
What I did like though was the plot. I really liked the idea and the story in general. And vampires who suck witches' powers when they drink their blood?! The story could have had potential! I'm so pissed off that the author didn't pay more attention and make the characters with a brain!...more

Gah, I just couldn't do it. I tried (not too hard, but I did!). This book started at a 3 star rating, went to a 2.5 pretty fast, and I stopped before it went lower than 2 stars.
I just couldn't! Gah, the characters were idiots!! And after the main male character said It's so not funny that I think a little pee might have come out of me I had to give up after a few more pages (when he says the same thing with different words).
I get that it's all suppose to be funny-haha, but it was more like a funny-fuck-off. I understand why people liked, even loved it. But gah! I rarely laugh these kinds of jokes and the onea from this book just that bad.

Ok, I really really really didn't like the female main character! Gah, she was such a princess! I was looking forward to this book, after reading the last one, I was really curious about Bat. She seemed like a cool chick. But then I got to know her. God, I can't imagine anyone being able to deal with such a bit** of a woman! I'd throw her off a window after 5 minutes. Too bad though, the story itself was pretty nice. For about 20% it was interesting, then got awful and I'm proud of myself for managing to get to the good part again. Yes, the last 15% were really nice. But is it worth reading 70% of awful for 30% of nice? Not in my book......more

There were moments I absolutely loved and then, out of nowhere, one of the main characters did a really stupid thing or said something that made no sense and all my "yay, I like this book" went to "hmm, I wonder if I should bother finishing it". And I really, really didn't like the ending. It made absolutely no sense to me, (view spoiler)[ how could her brother turn out to be the bad guy?! He did absolutely nothing for 5 years and throughout the whole book he was the good, helpful character, and then, all of a sudden, he became the bad guy? (hide spoiler)] Why would the author feel the need to do that? I mean, ok, I get it, you want to surprise your readers. But this is not the way to do it... Penelope Douglas ruined the story with it. I expected so much more from her! But these characters felt like they were the creation of an author that doesn't really know what to do and how to build normal, real(ish) people. Too bad... There were moments when I really liked the book (even the characters a bit). ...more

Maybe it's because I read t2.5 When I saw it was a Ruby Dixon book, my first thought was "Wow, this will be a great, funny book!" Guess what...? [image]
Maybe it's because I read this one right after a 5 star book, but ah well. I really didn't like it! It's damn hard to write a good short story, and a great one... well, it's close to impossible. But Ruby Dixon did it before. Too bad this one fell short for me.
I didn't like the characters, they didn't have any chemistry (yeah yeah, it's only a few pages long, it's hard to do, but not impossible). The plot wasn't bad (I absolutely love me some shifter smut!) but it wasn't enough. It it had been longer I probably would have DNFed it. Thank God for small miracles, right? [image]
I'll probably try more books from this series, but later. Much later......more

Gah, I didn't like this book. I know everyone adored it and all, but I just couldn't connect to it.
I didn't like the characters and I didn't feel any chemistry. The plot was cliche and the only reason I managed to "finish" it is because I skimmed a lot. And soo so many useless descriptions! Even more, there were a few times when I felt that the characters were idiots. And it should have had at least 50 pages less.
Still, the writing was pretty good and I understand why people like it. All in all, I'm proud of myself for managing to get to the end of this one!

I didn't look at the number of pages when I started this book and, when, instead of "Chapter X" it said "Epilogue", I was pretty surprised. It was a nice book, I liked the idea (even though it wasn't anything special, it was pretty cute). There were a lot of inconsistencies, the main characters changed their personality overnight, they were pretty strangely built and I can't say that I liked them. Despite the... not very good characters, I liked the story. It was cute. And it didn't bore me, didn't make me skim pages, didn't make me want to check the pages I have left. So, it's nothing special, but it's nice, it catches you pretty early on and you stay hooked 'til the end....more
I can't say I liked this book (at all). At about 30% I wanted to stop reading it, I was so annoyed! This 2 stars (and that's because I feel generous).
I can't say I liked this book (at all). At about 30% I wanted to stop reading it, I was so annoyed! This is not how a 35 year old acts! I mean, c'mon! (view spoiler)[ she doesn't mind getting beaten but she's independent. She wants to get rid of her old life but she's ok with having sex and getting involved with a biker (which she suspects of being violent and doing illegal business) (hide spoiler)]. I really can't believe anyone is that much of an idiot. I've said it before, I don't like stupid characters. I mean, ok, I get it, you're not a genius. I don't want you to be, I want you to be normal. But there's a fine line between stupidity and naivety and it's annoying as hell to see you crossing it. Ah, and I felt absolutely no chemistry between the two. None whatsoever. As a result, the sex scenes were awful (from my point of view). And another thing, she's 36 years old and he's 26 (view spoiler)[ and then, after she keeps complaining about the age difference, he is suddenly 32. I mean c'mon, I felt like the author tried way way too hard and it backfired. (hide spoiler)]. And I knew what was about to happen, there were no moments when I said "well, I didn't see that one coming." That's normal for romance books usually, you don't expect to read something new or extraordinary, but this one was suppose to have 'shocking' events and yet they managed to get me even more annoyed. Why 2 stars and not 1? The writing wasn't too bad and it was fast-paced, so that's a plus in my book. I didn't skim a lot (except the romantic scenes and the sex ones). All in all, I dunno if this book is worth it. There are a lot of books out there that are way better!...more

I know everyone loved this book. And well, I liked it as well, at least some parts of it. But most of all it annoyed me! The book started out ok, and it was pretty nice for about... 35%. Then it all went to hell. For those 30% though it was almost a 4star read. Maybe it was my fault, I had pretty high expectations from this book (4.2 rating and so many great reviews). At one point I wanted to throw my kindle and scream at the characters. Gah, they were idiots at time! Really, they were so annoying! Not only her, but him as well. They were so in love, but they didn't talk with each other. All they did was have sex. Don't get me wrong, that's not a bad thing, but I couldn't feel any chemistry between them.
Still, for some reason, I liked this book. No idea why exactly, but it wasn't a bad read. It was fast and relaxing, even sweet from time to time. It wasn't very captivating or very original, it was a 2star read for a while. But again, for some reason, I liked it. It made me smile (not too often, but hey, it's something!). I don't know if I'd actually recommend it to people who want a good book, but it's a relaxing read.
