That was a major plot hole and didn't make sense in terms of the character (Shade). While others had said that Daisy is a strong FMC, I would push back a bit on that. She is written well and is well developed but she isn't strong. Her body and mind are just used to nine years of torture and bullying, so what the college kids do isn't anything new to her. However, the men could be written better. They are interchangeable and nothing really stands out about them. This could have been a dark romance without the sexual punishment and the sexual assault. That didn't fit in the story and it was written as if the author was like "okay, we need to have a SA scene soon." And because this is the start of a RH, there are some dumb nicknames: Tulip, princess, shut-in, kitten, beautiful. ...more
