I think that if you have loved the previous books in the series, you will find the quality and tone of this one pretty consistent.
The Bridge Kingdom is fantasy romance at its peak for me. The entire series is 5 stars and I will keep reading anything else the author writes in this world (and probably in general)....more

Objectively, this book had flaws, primarily some side characters and plot threads from previous books that were dropped here. I have to assume there might be another spin off series where we might see more of these characters and get some answers. Also, what the heck do the apples mean? I can't believe we will never know! ...more

Stephanie Garber has this fairytale-esque quality in her writing that is charming and whimsical and I can see why all the hype with this book. Alas, it is not the kind of storytelling that I gravitate towards typically. I have noticed that I have also disliked other popular books with this sort of fairy-tale, lyrical writing such as The Night Circus. I did like this one quite a bit though and I am intrigued enough to continue on with the series. ...more

It's been so long since I read a Sanderson book - over 3 years actually. This was such a nice story. Sanderson always brings unique ideas to the table and I also heard this was inspired by Final Fantasy X which I love so I thought it's a good one to pick up in order to get back into Sanderson. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this book and I didn't expect to get that much romance in a Sanderson book. It's not a romance novel by any means but the romance felt like an important sub-plot in this one.
From the other Secret Projects, Tress also seems very interesting so I might pick up that one next....more

To be honest I don't understand neither the hype nor the hate for this book. I am sitting very comfortably in the middle with this one I think. Fourth To be honest I don't understand neither the hype nor the hate for this book. I am sitting very comfortably in the middle with this one I think. Fourth Wing is a very entertaining and easy-to-get-through read despite its length. Other than the fake love interest who was very cookie-cutter and quite obvious in terms of the purpose he served, I found all other characters ranged from likeable to inoffensive. Nobody really annoyed me. But I also don't think this book is a masterpiece by any means.
I will probably continue the series eventually but if we're expecting 5 books in total, I might wait until more books are out before I do that....more
