Really disappointed. Can't recommend it. The whole book felt like a 3rd act breakup.
Felix is insufferable and only redeems himself slightly by the end of the book, if at all. There's spoiled brats and toxicity and then there's Felix. Sweet baby Nico deserved so much more than he got but unfortunately for him, he fell in love with an idiot. We also had side characters interfering with this relationship the entire time to the point where you could mistake the second MC as someone else entirely for a good portion of the book.
Felix and Nico had their first time together and then Felix literally goes and gets plowed raw by the other guy the next day. When Nico requested they don't see anyone else he was told no. Again, he deserved so much more. He gave so much and received crumbs in return.
The only thing this book had going for it was Nico and the mirror sex scene.
This was also my first Scarlett book and will probably be my last.

I'm angry I finished this. Only about 35% of this book I enjoyed. The rest made me want to punch my kindle. There was more about fighting, publicity, I'm angry I finished this. Only about 35% of this book I enjoyed. The rest made me want to punch my kindle. There was more about fighting, publicity, soccer and coming out than their relationship itself. I didn't love this. I wanted to so bad. I counted the days until this got released but it just didn't do it for me.**sigh** Somewhere between 2-3 stars
I didn't love this. I wanted to so bad. I counted the days until this got released but it just didn't do it for me. I didn't DNF though so I'll give it that.
I didn't feel the chemistry between Asher and Oakley. Especially not at first. So it was really hard to take a lot of things seriously and it felt forced.
It also seemed like JD took every idea she's ever had for a book and tried to fit them all into this one. It became really chaotic.
I didn't hate it but definitely didn't love it.

This book just ended so abruptly that I'm confused and salty about it. So may edit this review later... Anyway, I enjoyed this story for the most part. I feel like some parts could have been more detailed rather than skipped over or rushed. But I love stories with broken boys who get their happily ever after.
Also thought it was cool to have a book with LGBTQ+ Christian representation. It's the first book I've read with that.

Started out hating Holden then being annoyed by Kason and feeling mildly bad for him. Ended with hating Kason and being mad at Pheonix. What a ride. Not even sure I want Kason's book seeing how he's a man baby.

Painful and beautiful wrapped in a bow. From the prologue you learn how horrible Preston's life is. It was amazing to see a touch starved, traumatized man open himself up to being loved.
"He calms me, soothes the ragged edge my life has left on my soul."
"He shows me that I'm loveable, even in the dark moments when everything tells me otherwise."
Preston's dad is so so evil so make sure you read triggers. He's an absolute brutal POS and my heart broke for Preston time and time again.
