i got a lot done while listening so i'm not complaining. but i do not understand the appeal of gen and i will not continue the series. i am also really lost about which part was supposed to be the major plot twist cause nothing felt major or plot twisty, but i'll move on from that in five minutes max....more

boring. repetitive. bland characters. a mc that moans every time she eats something (is this some kind of weird new sex thing. was i supposed to be turned on. sparks were definitely flying but that's just because i considered setting myself and the book on fire multiple times). i was actually gonna give this two stars but the more i think about it the more i hate it. also i'm in a very bad mood. lol.
i have said it with book lovers before and i will say it again: all her books feel the same. wake me up in two days time and yell the names alex, gus, and miles at me and i will struggle assigning them to the right books. i don't even remember happy places mmc... and i actually liked that book... meh whatever.
those two had about the same amount of chemistry as me and that work project i have been putting off for weeks because it bores me to death just thinking about. watching paint dry would have been more exciting than reading this. maybe it isn't too late yet. someone get me a brush.
my theory concerning emily henry's popularity on goodreads is that she always writes about female characters that in one shape or another love books. and... that's basically most of the demographic here so. which is fine and yay yippiee juhu, representation (the poor underrepresented class of *checks notes* white cishet female readers) but like .... please write a book that isn't just the previous ones rearranged and glued together?
sick to my stomach. i have never been this upset by a thriller. not me praying no-one will die and then sobbing for twenty pages straight. lisa jewellsick to my stomach. i have never been this upset by a thriller. not me praying no-one will die and then sobbing for twenty pages straight. lisa jewell is the only thriller writer. please write a thousand more, it's all i wanna read. please never write a single one again, i can't take it....more

"I love him, Papa. I forgave him the moment he came back. I would love him still, even if he left me again. I would love him through several lifetimes, I think", Fox determined, resigning himself to the truth, "and I would love him in every world."
the problem is, that this could have been so good... had it not been written by a squirrel on crack.

"A pretty little daughter she can groom into being her perfect accessory," Seph murmured bitterly. Hades squeezed his arm. "She sees what she wants, then. She'd rather lie to herself than appreciate who you really are." "Yes." His whisper barely had voice. "Then she's a fool."

children!! rejoice!! this isn’t TLH for the umpteenth time (i think, i remember nothing about TLH, i think the main dude’s name was aaron? and the mc children!! rejoice!! this isn’t TLH for the umpteenth time (i think, i remember nothing about TLH, i think the main dude’s name was aaron? and the mc was grape?? whatevs) – this one was actually FUN!!!!!
those two had such a great and fun chemistry! not in any romantic or sexual sense (bleurgh) but i would absolutely have loved to see them get into fist fights!! ali, commit to the bit and let them whack each other over the head with sticks!! i liked their banter, they should have done the whole i hate you thing for about two hundred pages more. less sex scenes in books and more other kinds of stabbing!!!
“I’m really good at hating you, Jack, so here’s what I’m going to do: not only am I going to get this job, but when we’re colleagues at MIT, I’m going to make sure that you have to look at me every day and wish that I were George. I’m going to make you regret every single little jab. And I’m going to single-handedly make your life so hard that you’ll regret taking on me, and Monica, and theoretical physics, until you cry in your office every morning and finally apologize to the scientific community for what you did.” He is really not amused now. “Is that so?” he asks. Cold. Cutting. This time I’m the one to smile. “You bet, Jonathan.”
like look at this? personally i’m having a field day.
i also liked jack, i might be biased, though i am still bewildered how one gets jack out of jonathan, if one of you dares to address me that way i am taking you out (murder, not a date). the man is just kinda cool? would love to talk to him. i think he was really cute with elsie but i also think that everything about his affection was one sided and the only reason elsie did reciprocate in the end is that this is a romance novel and you lot would be very angry if they didn’t end up together (personally that outcome would have raised my rating but i am just silly like that).
the drama in this was way too over the top. what is this? trash tv? there’s just no way in hell that these are real life problems people experience. if real life theoretical and experimental physicists hate each other like they are three year olds who each stole the other’s favourite truck they need to get help and be so so fucking ernst right now.
this also had way too many sex scenes, was there a reason for them to fuck five times in three chapters? no!!!! i said more STABBING!!! also ali’s sex scenes are way too cringe, i’m not sorry, i said what i said, jack told me to stand up for my opinions
overall: ???? this books gave me whiplash. i both liked and hated it. i will role a dice and this will be the rating ...more
