It’s obvious, you say. You knew it from the first chapter. The first paragraph. The first sentence. The first letter. But you are wrong. There is nothing obvious about the identity of this antagonist. I have used red herring after red herring, woven in false identities and unreliable narrators, and fabricated evidence. At least three people who you thought were dead are actually alive. There is no possible way you could know the truth. There’s no way you could ever guess that the killer is actually Steve. Wait. Oh, crap. Ugh. Well, nobody reads the prologue anyway.”
i am this authors biggest hater. i don’t think she has ever written a good thriller in her entire life and also never will. but all that aside, glad to see she has a sense of humour.
this was so over the top and hilarious. i read this while doing cardio at the gym (the only place i read thrillers, idk, stop judging) and i nearly fell of that bike multiple times.
obviously you can’t go into this suspecting any substance but it’s excellent entertainment for like an hour.
wouldn’t mind if freida wrote more satirical thrillers. 4.5 stars ...more

debated between 2 and 3 stars but unfortunately i think giving it two stars is funnier (i have a weird sense of humor), also i only liked two episodes - and i don't even remember what the second one i liked was about.
i think protocol would be an alright and maybe even good podcast if archives didn't exist. but alas, archives does exist and also protocol only makes sense if you do indeed know archives but at the same time if you already know archives this is just a bland version of it so.
the characters are meh, the stories are meh, we focused on a clown for around five hundred episodes and i still don't really get why? archives had character, protocol has... ... ... can't really think of anything really.
unfortunately for everyone involved magnus just really suits my evening walks really well. like the way episodes are structured with only small amounts of actual dialogue and most of it being atmospheric monologues which really helps me calm down and just walk slowly while enjoying the cold night air. so i will listen to season 2. (unless one of you knows another podcast that is mostly statement-like, horror themed, and between 20-30 minutes per episode)
either way, i am getting an eye tattoo next week because magnus archives is life ...more

I know the sharpness of his gaze. I know his perceptiveness and the precision of his associations of ideas. I know the ease with which he manages to encapsulate a person in one or two phrases. I have to face facts: the man I’ve been married to for more than ten years thinks of me as a clementine.“
