Levi/Livy just breaks my heart. I love his character and this look into his past is truly heart wrenching.
Written as a 1st person PI love this series!
Levi/Livy just breaks my heart. I love his character and this look into his past is truly heart wrenching.
Written as a 1st person POV memoir, it details Levi's high school years in Alabama, his college exploits and the emergence of Livy. We get to meet a new cast of characters and see how crucial they were to his survival.
If you're a fan of this series, it's a must read. It really brings to light Levi's character and has me wanting to read his and Tracy's book again. I wouldn't recommend this as a standalone novel, and if you've not yet picked up this series, it's high time you do!

.....I absolutely LOVED this book! The quality of writing was glorious: descriptive, evocative, and, at times, lyrical. It wasStunning!!! 4.5 Stars!!!
.....I absolutely LOVED this book! The quality of writing was glorious: descriptive, evocative, and, at times, lyrical. It was a pleasure to absorb the words on the page and delight in the images and sounds my brain made of them. GLORIOUS!!
The characters had DEPTH! Jude, our pianist struggling with severe depression was so roundly depicted, that I could feel and hear him. I knew him. I knew his flaws and fears and felt them with him. Marvelous!
Faron, our tattoo artist/painter was also vividly drawn, but he had very few flaws. It was here, in his near perfection, that the story lost a 5 Star rating. Still, I liked him very much, beauty and goodness personified in a person of color—a refreshing deviation from the standard POC MC.
I also liked how race was indeed a subject for our lovers—one black, the other white. It was discussed and highlighted, as were the privileges and disadvantages of race in the United States.
Depression was a focus here since we see this romance play out from the point of view of our pianist coping with mental illness. While his struggle was real, it was not depressing for me as a reader. Somehow, Parrish was able to allow me in his head without sucking me into a dark maelstrom of depression. How can she do this? I don’t know, but the book had little angst for one dealing with this illness.
So, I loved this book. I loved it enough that I might read the MF title that precedes this one (although this one is an excellent standalone, reading IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE before this one will introduce you to the majority of the secondary characters in here: Rex, Daniel, Christopher, and Ginger).
My recommendation: read this!!

I loved this story. I needed this story after having read several dark books. Was there much of a plot aside from two characters meeting and sexing their way to an angst free HEA? No. Did I care? Not in the slightest. I loved it!
Abe was scrumptious, and Jason sexy as hell. The fast paced dialogue had me laughing out loud--especially when Jason and his ex-wife Angela shared the page.
This is comfort reading and fluff at its finest and I am so happy to have indulged--I gobbled it up in one sitting!

So. A review. Yeah. I’m not sure I can give this book all the props it deserves because it was soooooo good. If you’re a TJK fan, this is a no brainer. You will read this, you will laugh, you will love it.
If you’re not a TJK fan... well, this series seriously rocks and may make you pee your pants.
This one features Josiah in his quest for stardom. We get to meet the socially anxious writer Q-Bert. We also meet a unicorn, a tigress and a randy 80 year-old bisexual queen in a wheelchair. We get to travel from LA back to Abby, Oregon and we get to hang with the We Three Queens, Gus, Casey, Lottie and the ferret with merit.
There is also a lot of weed in this book—like the previous one—and the conversations that ensue are hilarious! I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL THIS COMES OUT IN AUDIOBOOK because I will love it even more!

Harper Fox paints a stark portrayal of love and loss in this beautifully written novella.

Harper Fox paints a stark portrayal of love and loss in this beautifully written novella.
One man finds himself near rock bottom after a bitter betrayal by his lifelong partner. Another man helps him pick up his pieces. Neither seem ready to fully trust the other, but what follows is a stunning story of recovery.
I loved this story and am amazed at how Harper Fox can pack so much depth into characters with so few pages!

I loved the first book; THIS ONE I ADORED. It was succulent, it was delicious, it was hot, and full of laughter, and pain, and sadness, and my hand wanted to reach on in there and slap Caspian upside the head.
This second installment deviates more from FSoG than the first one did. There are still recognizable homages to the original text, but of course this is Alexis Hall, an Author who can actually write, and everything is that much better.
Here we get more of the kink I was sooooooooo thirsty for. In the first book. (Please note, that is my first use of thirsty ever in reference to something other than a beverage). We also get more of Caspian as Arden slowly chips away at his frosty manshell. But, be careful Arden dear, chip too much, and you might hit soft living tissue. Ouch. Ya, that hurts. And that’s what happened here.
I liked seeing more of the “real” Caspian. Granted, they were only flashes and moments, but enough to prove he wasn’t frozen solid through and through.
I also loved crazy Ellery. How messed up is this poor girl? How much do see myself in her sometimes? She and Arden continue their friendship, and it’s something I truly enjoy seeing.
Spoilers? Nah, just read the book. You know there’s a third, so things are NOT resolved here. I’ll just tell you the book starts and ends in Scotland with St. Ives and Hart.
Enjoy......Hall kills it in this one!
