For a paranormal reader like me to give this historical read a 5 star rating you know this book has to be good especially since I really do not get into historical reads. However I have to admit Maya Banks story telling is absolutely brilliant and refreshing. I haven’t read a historical book this good since Diana Gabaldon. This read caught me from the very first page and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I just wanted more and can hardly wait for the next book to come out in the trilogy.
Ewan McCabe and his brothers are some fierce highlanders that love their clan, their lands, and family. Not only are they protective but they are sexy as hell. Mairin’s character was awesome, kick ass and take names, brave and feisty, beautiful with a mind of her own, and loving towards mankind. Ewan and Mairin’s romance was perfect and the erotica was very tasteful. I found myself captured into their web of happiness and bliss as well as if I was there witnessing everything right beside them.
My emotions were all over the place within this story as I almost tear up a couple of times but turned around and found myself cheering them on silently and then laughing out loud at some of the interactions between the characters. The writing was brilliant and I look forward to reading more of Maya Banks works.

A nice read about one Astronaut Commander's life going from sorrow of losing one husband to finding her true soul mate and happiness again. It's funnyA nice read about one Astronaut Commander's life going from sorrow of losing one husband to finding her true soul mate and happiness again. It's funny how if we stop searching for love it will find us. The title "Orion" is the shuttle that Astronaut Commander Susan Davis commanded. I thought Susan and Astronaut Chance Walker's romance was so sweet, however I wished that A.S. Johnson would of added a little more action to the love scenes by putting the erotica in there. Over all though the story was sweet with a great HEA....more

Wow! What an amazing adventure these two dedicated Cavers Bill Stone and Alexander Klimchouk went through all kinds of heart aches, trials and errors trying to reach their goal of finding the deepest cave in the world. Their dedication to their mission is overwhelmingly impressive. I admire them both for their endurance and accomplishments.
James Tabor did an excellent job telling their story. The writing was easy flowing and exciting to read. I thought this book would make an excellent movie because the descriptions the author gave made me feel like I was right there on the camp with the teams. It was unbelievable how death was always knocking at their door, I mean one forgotten routine or one wrong step could end your life tragically. Even though several lives were lost and all the political bull crap and religious beliefs amongst the region, Stone never gave up and kept on with the mission. It never fails that there will always be someone close by to try and knock you down or stop you from achieving your goal and Stone never let them stop him even after getting a divorce.
I really admire Bill Stone for everything he has acomplished trying to prove Cheve Cave in Oaxaca Mexico was the deepest cave in the world even though he knew his competition Alexandra Klimchouk was proving Krubera cave in Abkhazia was. As it turned out, Krubera Cave is the deepest cave at 7,188 and over 8 miles in length. Cheve Cave is currently at 4,869 in depth.
I am impressed with Stone's future goal of going to the moon and starting the first minning operation on the moon by 2017. I will be watching for that event for sure. Also, Stone invented an interplanetary robot named Endurance which NASA will be sending to Jupiter's moon Europa, where it will search for water. Very impressive indeed but even during his years striving to reach his goals he invented the rebreathers to replace scuba gear before the Navy did. I truly believe with a man like Stone in the picture, our scientific future is going to exceed limits we never thought would happen.
Great book over-all! What's amazing is that this isn't my usual type of read and I loved it.
