Dr. Gary Chapman's opening was compelling and his storytelling was conversational, not sermon-like.
I'm single but the book greatly interested me and I kept turning the pages. His real-life examples and the way he asked the right questions brought positive results in the couples he counseled. The 5 love languages that keep appearing after every chapter are: 1. Words of Affirmation 2. Quality Time 3. Receiving Gifts 4. Acts of Service 5. Physical Touch
I read this because this is applicable in all relationships. It doesn't need to be romantic. I love the usage of some bible passages too. While reading, I was able to determine what mine were and some of the real-life struggles of the couples resonated with me.
This book is something to be savored and read over and over again. I highly recommend it to couples. I'm looking forward to reading the version for singles....more

I still gave it 5 stars because of the entertainment. There were some ridiculous laugh-out-loud scenes that never gets old.
It wasn't written chronologically too but there is an introduction per chapter on what it's about.
This is a simple yet colorful autobiography of Trevor Noah and I like how it's written. His comedic voice was loud and his feelings were expressed very well....more

Simon discusses the golden circle, and cited a lot of successful companies like Apple, Southwest, and Microsoft. He did a lot of research and mentioned concrete examples of the rise (and sometimes) fall of some, like Walmart.
The info is very detailed and it's very helpful for those in Marketing or starting a new business. You must first start with why, then the how and what would follow.
I find myself still digesting the words and it's something I'd like to listen to again, in bite-sized pieces....more

I admit being guilty to some of the ways but I'm happy to realize that I can improve. As what the foreword mentioned, this is not a book that tells you to let go of your phone. It's a diagnostic, and the questions are thought-provoking.
The author pools himself with the readers about smartphone addiction and ways we are slaves to our phones. It has become a way of life for us that it's the first thing we reach for in the morning, and the last thing we see at night.
We welcome distractions with the beep of a text or other notifications, we just always have to be in the now with real-time tweets and news and while I think that's a good thing (news), some of us can't really control our behaviors because they became habits.
This book is not meant to be breezed through, but savored one chapter at a time....more

I have been hearing positive things I was very enlightened about Intermittent Fasting (IF) and it made me re-evaluated my eating habits and lifestyle.
I have been hearing positive things about IF and this book was backed by a lot of scientific research, data, and evidence; the authors definitely know what they're talking about because they themselves are currently practicing this.
There's a very helpful guide on the calorie counts of common foods, beverages, and even spices towards the end. While the book is based on scientific facts, I like the light and conversational tone of the book. There were several tests, interviews, and testimonials about the 5:2 fasting and the time to start is now....more
