Grumpy -sunshine, cowboys, small town romance, mystery suspense and with a touch of humor. Plus excellent writing. I would easily rate it five stars if it was longer, because I feel that some matters should be explored on a deeper level - especially relationship dynamics and development between the MC's. Nevertheless I enjoyed it and as always I can't wait to read the next book from one of my favorite authors. BTW - if you are intrigued by the twin brother read Adverse Conditions (Reclaimed hearts series book 1). Another great series by this author....more

The first attempt to write a paranormal urban fantasy from one of my favorite authors (I've read every single title she ever published and loved them all) is spectacular - couldn't put it down! I read a lot of PNR, UF books but this is hands down one of the best I've ever read - and without any doubt the hottest! This book has it all - great world building plot and character development, scorching heat well balanced between action, angst, secrets... It will touch your heartstrings and keep you on your toes, because can this almost impossible relationship survive - can this improbable couple survive literally and figuratively and build something from the ashes of their pasts... It's a must read!...more

I'm a fan of TA Moore's writing for years but I must admit that when she chooses to cross to the dark side of paranormal it's sometimes difficult to follow her train of thought - not the scenes per se - they are more than clear enough - it's just where she's leading us with the story and the plot, not to mention her wild imagination. So many clues, so many hidden answers on the go. Don't worry it all clears up gradually and most definitely at the end. Not to mention the amount of gore - it's usually movie, or Stepen King worthy and definitely not for everyone - but I'm okay with it, because her writing is exceptional. This is probably the darkest book from this author and I've read them all. Just don't expect very likable characters, but I promise they will grow on you. The devil is in the details and I can promise she's the master of detail and clues, no matter if it's character or story development - you just need to pay attention. The details make her characters and scenes so very much alive -but honestly sometimes I wish she would keep some details contained... Not really, lol, just a heads up. Why four stars instead of five you might ask. Because I feel that the ending (epilogue) was a bit abrupt and left some answers to your imagination. I know this is a part of multi-author anthology and it's a standalone but I wish for a second book sometime in the future....more

This book can't be read as a standalone. You need to read Solstice first. Although each case is solved at the end of each book, there's a relationship dynamics and development that you can't possibly understand if you don't start at the beginning. "Two emotionally wounded men end up in a small town on Northern West coast. One has returned home to reinvent himself and mend fences. The other is running away from people. He trusts his animals more than people and is determined to keep it that way. This is brilliantly written, very slow burn, plot driven MM mystery suspense." This is a part of what I wrote in my review of Solstice. I couldn't wait to read Equinox and it didn't disappoint - on the contrary - I honestly think this is one of the best slow burn MM mystery suspense, small town romance series I've ever read. Each author is a force to be reckoned on their own, but writing together - match made in heaven. It's also a treat for all animal lovers. Equinox brings us another great mystery and a huge step in right direction for the MC's. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series....more

Just take the time and read some top reviews on Amazon - they reflect everything I felt about this book and more - because I was kinda late to the party, so I'll keep this really short. Spencer and his psychopomp/partner Fatima were one of my favorites in Soulbound series and I was really hoping for the story of their own. My wish came true and even exceeded my highest expectations. In theory it can be read as a standalone, but I would really recommend to read Soulbound series first for better enjoyment and understanding of the complicated and fascinating world Hailey Turner created. It's imaginative beyond any comparison and I honestly think it would make a blockbuster movie series. This book is maybe even darker and at the same time filled with humor - interactions between Spencer and Fatima are hilarious -and the pull between two such unlikely partners as Tacoma and Spencer is sizzling hot. We get to reconnect with some main characters from Soulbound series too. I'm really hoping Wade gets his own book. There were hints that this might happen and I'm holding my fingers crossed so much it hurts....more

The self deprecating dry humor along with wits, deeper and well reaserched insights into real life of someone (s) so much in the public eye... The holdups, limitations, demands of the jobs so much under different types of srutiny, especially considering bloodthirsty English press, not to mention the social media... An old song An Englishman in New York by Sting comes to mind, except here's the other way around. This is a fantastic read. Insta attraction, but slow burn - how could it be anything else under above mentioned circumstances. I'm pretty sure that I'll reread someday. Enjoy....more

They often come from the 'wrong side of tracks ' so to speak and are often not easy to like, but they grow on you. Some scenes in this book ( or any other from this author) are so realistic you can literally smell, blood, sweat and feel the pain. The feels and 'L word' are often 'second hand emotion' in the words of immortal Tina Turner, but they're there and bubble to the surface eventually. They are usually tucked far away into 'don't go there department ' based on previous life experiences and more than rough upbringing of main characters. This book is no exception and I can honestly say that it's one of my favorites from this author. Couldn't put it down....more

I need to repeat what I said in my review in the first book of this trilogy. If you are a fan of mortal enemies to lovers/ very dark/dystopian/vampiresI need to repeat what I said in my review in the first book of this trilogy. If you are a fan of mortal enemies to lovers/ very dark/dystopian/vampires trope this is a must read. Very well written, good and original world building, complex characters, plot with a lots of intrigue and many unexpected twists and turns. Development between the MC's is a slow burn and that's the way it should be when we're talking about enemies to lovers. There's no HEA, just a HFN at the end of this instalment but it left me craving for more. In this second book Cy and Haven are torn between their previous (horrible) experiences, loyalties and convictions that were instilled in them - and the possibility of another, all new world order, while they are battling just to stay alive , while threading the very muddy waters of political intrigue. I had some serious hold ups about the world building though. Satellite phones in the world lit by candles and oil lamps for example. At the same time halogen lamps to grow crops? Not to mention that a single fire accident could kill vampire instantly. Where does all the silver and guns come from for Veritas when they are hiding underground? There's a lot more and that's the reason for four star rating. Just make sure you read trigger warnings because this is not the book for the fainthearted....more

The worlds they create are always imaginative and unique, their stories are a bit angsty, emotional, although realistic, with great character development and laced with humor. I was sad when Daydream ended as I am now when I have to say goodbye to Inescapable series. It's a great ending though. Vid's and Matteo's story would be easily written as an usual contemporary story and would be a good read, but in Kriila world there's added tension, questions and risks that could stand in the way of their relationship. The development is so realistic, with all ups and downs, doubts, questions. What I liked especially was how Piper, Matteo's daughter was described - probably the most realistic 5 year old I've ever read in any book and so much fun. Just a little tidbit that I enjoyed from the start of the series - most of you are probably not avare where the naming Kriila came from. It sounds great in English and it actually means wings in my language and in the first language of one of the authors. Honestly I can't wait to find out what this author duo will come up with next....more

This story is set in in mideaval imaginary world and the world building and character development ( including supporting characters) is amazing. I was sucked in this world from the page one and couldn't put it down. The enemies to lovers story feels realistic. Attraction is there from the beginning, but the forced political marriage is something that keeps Draylon and Yarif from trusting their developing feelings and each other's motives. Can something that was built on unsteady foundation of blood, deceit and political games survive and bloom? So what you can expect is a brialntly written, plot driven medieval fantasy, with fair amount of action, heat and a "side dish" of humor that's so characteristic for this author - actually I would miss it a lot if it wasn't there, although in this book it's toned down a bit. This is honestly one of the best fantasy slow burns I've ever read and I'm happy that there's another book coming, because there are characters that stand out and definitely deserve a book of their own. No worries - it's a HEA for this couple, but I'm really looking forward to read more from this world. And BTW - if your trope preferences are different there's just about something for anyone in Eden Winters' repertoar. Honestly she's one of the most imaginative and versatile authors I've ever encountered. My personal favorite (that I've reread more times that I'm willing to admit) is her Diversion series....more

In the first book we met Ivan who was intriguing, came across as gruff and rough around the edges. As it turns out that's just a protective facade - there's so much more layers hiding under the surface and it takes "Rory Effect" to bring an inside and out beautiful man out of his shell. This is a beautiful, hot and moving story. It could easily wander in saccharine sweet waters (which I hate) but author masterfully navigated those traps. Just when you think that the scene will play out in mostly satisfying but generic form there's a surprise waiting for you - every single time - the surprise that will either touch your heart, make you laugh, or both. Don't read this book as a standalone. Although every book features individual couple there's the ongoing plot and characters development. I loved the first book almost as much as this one. "Broken Warrior" by K.C. Wells and Parker Williams is a heartfelt and emotionally charged and also action packed novel that delves deep into the healing power of love, resilience, and second chances. This collaborative effort between two of my favourite authors delivers a story that will tug at your heartstrings. One of the standout aspects of "Broken Warrior" is the authors' ability to depict the raw emotions, psychological and physical struggles faced by veterans suffering from PTSD. The narrative explores the multifaceted nature of trauma, capturing both the external and internal battles faced by individuals like Gary Cross. The authors handle this sensitive topic with care and respect, showcasing the importance of understanding, acceptance, and support for those affected by such experiences. They also expertly convey his internal conflicts, fears, and insecurities, allowing readers to connect with his pain and yearning for healing. Michael, on the other hand, serves as a beacon of compassion and strength, offering unconditional support and love as he guides Gary towards emotional healing. The romance between Gary and Michael is portrayed in realistic manner, highlighting the gradual trust and emotional connection that develops between them. Their chemistry is palpable. The authors balance the romance and mystery with the larger themes of self-acceptance, making the love story a vital part of Gary's healing journey. In conclusion, "Broken Warrior" is a captivating novel that tackles the challenging themes of trauma, healing, and love. K.C. Wells and Parker Williams skillfully navigate the complexities of PTSD, bringing awareness to the struggles faced by veterans and emphasizing the transformative power of genuine connection. I would easily rate it 5 stars but I feel that Michael's character was a bit underdeveloped and lacking background....more
