But - yes, there's always a but when I rate a book four stars instead of five. While the story and the plot kept my attention I felt that there were some issues that should be addressed more, like dealing with transgender identity and coming out in real world - not always smooth and easy - it was just glossed over in this book. I don't mean the relationship between MC's, but the outside world. I see it as a missed opportunity to thicken the plot and deepen the psychological and practical aspects of potentially great story. Too repetitive at some internal musings of both MC's. It's more than realistic and human to question yourself and your choices and possible future decitions but it got to a point that the story and MC's were just chasing their tails and getting nowhere and at the end, things that should be obvious to all involved, and the others, that should take some more on page work are "magically" resolved in the last chapter and epilogue. It's a good read but not my favorite....more

The author should be extremely proud of this book. I won't repeat the blurb. The way so many different issues (bi awakening, age gap, conversion therapy, dealing with past emotional trauma) and so much, more is written with so much depth and emotional understanding, without any single cheesy line - I was stunned and literally couldn't put it down. It's almost poetic and at the same time so real. This series is all about found/ chosen family and second chances so I suggest you start with book one. You won't regret it and you'll certainly understand what's happening here better. I don't want to add any spoilers, but despite the HEA for this couple, there's so much more to be resolved for them and others, actually the plot is getting bigger and all individuals mentioned in previous books are involved. I suspect Teague's story is next and I can't wait. Also I truly hope some unresolved issues with Nate and his biological father will be addressed properly.

The Victorian London sI've enjoyed this sequel as much as the first book. I won't repeat the blurb and try to avoid spoilers, so I'll keep this short. The Victorian London setting is done perfectly and it's obvious that author put a lot of research into the series. Add a great writing, seamless flow of the story, interesting side characters, a lot of magic, mystery, action and heat and you have an almost perfect read. Frankly it's a page turner. Evander and Viggo are still going strong in and out of the bedroom and the plot thickens. Their relationship is developing in all the right ways and here's the one of the reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars. Insta love bothered me in the first book. Insta attraction - absolutely! But love? Hmm... The appearance of Evander's ex in this second installment was the perfect opportunity to put some turmoil in their personal relationship. Not explored enough. Add one or two questionable decisions plot vise. No biggies, but they threw me off. Nevertheless I sincerely can't wait to read the next book in the series! Books should be read in order or you'll probably be lost. ...more

I loved this book and the dynamics between Atlas and Robin. Enemies to lovers trope is done perfectly and the tension between the two is almost palpable and so hot. But as I mentioned before, sometimes the plot was difficult to follow and I had to go back to previous books just to remind myself of certain events or relations between particular characters. So do yourself a favor and read all four in one go and enjoy. ...more

And every single time she manages to exceed my pretty high expectations. There's a reason she's a one click for me. This is another story that will stay with me and the theme song is playing on repeat in my head and I don't mind it at all, quite the opposite. Some of you might have already guessed which song I'm talking about. Everything that kills me is a heartbreaking, beautiful and uplifting story about the love that just won't quit, despite impossible odds that are against it. Don't worry there's a hard won HEA. And just a heads up - there's a link to bonus short story hidden in there so don't stop reading after The End. No matter what she decides to write next - I can't wait. ...more

She wrote a great conclusion to one of my favourite PNR series, although I wouldn't mind to read more, because every single character has grown on me. This story is set in in mideaval imaginary world and the world building and character development ( including supporting characters) is amazing. Just note that you should read Warrior King first because there's some time overlap and this is actually Rufe's and Niam's story that was indicated in the first book and we all been waiting for. If I had to choose which one is better I couldn't because they are both page turners. I was sucked into this world from the page one and couldn't put it down. So what you can expect is a brilliantly written, plot driven medieval fantasy, with fair amount of action, heat and a "side dish" of humor that's so characteristic for this author - actually I would miss it a lot if it wasn't there, although in this book it's toned down a bit. Another thing that stands out are a few very well written strong female characters. My favorite was queen mother Nera. This is honestly one of the best fantasy slow burns I've ever read and I'm happy that there's another book coming, because there are characters that stand out and definitely deserve a book of their own. ...more

This ended up as a very well written sweet romance with some twists and turns and a little bit of angst. Not my usual cup of tea, but easy to read. It's happening on one real (gorgeous) setting and one fictional. There's some homophobia involved (fictional setting), but everything turns out in their favour at the end. If I continue I'd be revealing too much so I'll stop here. What I missed was a little more depth in creating the characters and plot development. Frankly not what I'm used to from this author, but it was an easy and enjoyable read....more

Although each book is centered on individual couples there's also very complicated found family dynamic between adopted brothers, so many pent up emotions and secrets to be revealed! They try to fight it, each for different reasons, but... The main plot continues from the first book and has some twists and turns that will surprise or even shock you, especially the one at approx half of this book. I've probably said too much already so don't jump there to find out what it is. You'll ruin the surprise. Just enjoy the ride. This is an agsty, hot story and definitely a page turner. Miguel and Raven are going strong as ever, not only as business partners but also as a couple, although they are struggling to get their business started basically from scratch. But the offer Miguel receives could change everything and Raven suddenly feels insecure, worried and there's also a bit jealousy in the mix. We get to meet once again most of the characters we loved in her previous books and together they form found family and a force to be reckoned. I love the loyalty, humor and banter between all the characters. It's one of Logan's signature marks, so her books keep you on your toes but also make you smile a lot. Not to mention the heat... I have a feeling, or maybe it's just my wishful thinking, that this isn't the last we've seen Miguel and Raven, because the ending shows a great potential for a whole new series. There were also cameo appearances of some of our favorite characters from her Dead Serious series. Highly recommended. If you are new to this series start with book one otherwise you'll be lost. Everything else fades away. Her mostly morally grey characters are so alive, real, vunerable and yet at the same time the strongest I've ever encountered in literature. They are all flawed, wounded and marked by their pasts in one way or another but they keep pushing because they all found something and someones to fight for. Their tightly knit found family is a force to be reckoned and a port in the storms. And there are many, because life just won't give them a break. I can't say I have a favourite, because they all hold a special place in my heart, so it's hard for me to let them go, because this is the final (11th) book in the series. And what a finale it is! You won't be disappointed. Some of you probably think that this should be book 9, at least that's what I picked up from some conversations on social media. There are two more in between that were added later, and it's essential to read them to fully understand and enjoy the last one. First the short snippets were only available on Patreon, but there's some new content that wasn't there. Trust me - you don't want to miss it. Engaging writing, moraly grey characters (that's me putting it mildly), gritty, hot, violent, but it's also so much more. This bikers twist on Romeo and Juliet (don't worry, there's HAE) is written with deeper introspection into actions and reactions of two basically very lonely men, who are in their late twenties and due life circumstances deep in a closet and just discovering their true sexuality and possibly much more. Even when all the odds are against them and they could both end up dead, they are starting to realize that what's growing between them is worth fighting for. Loved it!...more

Because there's always that significant "more moments" in Jax Calder's books and that's is one of the reasons I've read everything she's ever published. IMO if book doesn't make me think or feel, might be sadness, joy, laughter or heart wrenching angst it's just not worth my time. Really good ones are supposed to do that and they are the ones I remember and keep rereading them. This one dug deep into the issue of bullying and the lasting trauma that's left to deal with for anyone involved. It was well researched, but most importantly felt from a deep personal perspective and the most important thing - deep soul searching - questioning the motives, past or present, for any actions on both sides. What's supposed to be just a little fun, turned out to be one of the best books I've read in a year. Highly recommended!...more
