Practically kidnapped form his own country, Vana is adopted into the royal family and only had with him his blood guard Daromir, these guys have been besties for 14 years and have the most codependent relationship ever and yet they think they are just friends.
Having them get together was really well done, you can feel the yearning and pining from both sides until they finally give into their feelings.
The plot was nicely set to expand Vana’s brothers, I just hope we get to see more of the original characters too....more

This is a very high fantasy novella, it follows the story of Ath a former Sheppard who’s seeking revenge after his entire village got destroyed. Alongside his brother they train to become warriors and defeat the invading army and a seemingly impossible to kill demigod.
This is set to be the beginning of a series that hints to a large cast of characters including different gods, it feels that it’s loosely based on Celtic mythology with medieval vibes, I’m pretty sure I’ll continue the series to see what happens next....more

I have no idea, because if anything, the only other similar book I can think of with the same weird vibes is Annihilation, and that's a stretch.
In all honesty, I don't know why I didn't DNF this book, I considered it like 3 times, but I always decided to continue, now I don't know if that was the correct choice as it ended up being whatever for me.
I really thought this book was going to be different, the whole Train aspect sounded existing and The wastelands intriguing, but at the end I didn't like the story much; some of those actions the characters took made no sense, and the ending was just thrown there without an explanation of how everything would work....more

It started good, I was actually having a good time even if the humour was a bit over the top, but somehow it just went downhill, like I feel that happened. The potential was there to create tension and drama, but Drew and Zach got together in the first 10%, then we have a random, very anticlimactic revelation of how Zach is not really a demon, and surprise, surprise, Drew is the only one who can help him, throw in a weird and out of the blue subplot of Drew’s former bully being in love with him plus a thousand times the word “sweetness” as a pet name and I was done.
By the time the book ended, I was left with more questions than answers, like how the whole paranormal/master wizard thing works? What explanation did they give to the police? Is Zach going to age now that he is earthbound? Is Drew 20 but doing an MBA?
In the author’s note, the author mentions Harry Potter and how she removed all the references to it due to JKR being a bigot, and then she said she wrote this originally as fanfic. Is this supposed to be Harry Potter fanfiction? Because to me it read like Soul Eater Winn and Danny’s fanfic....more
10/10 no notes, the perfect ending for Teddy and Ace.
I absolutely adored this series, from start to finish, I couldn't have asked for more. The world-10/10 no notes, the perfect ending for Teddy and Ace.
I absolutely adored this series, from start to finish, I couldn't have asked for more. The world-building is intricate enough that it makes you want to know more, but at the same time easy to follow. The complete set of characters from MCs to secondary characters was so fun, the found-family aspects were really cozy and the romance was lovely.
This book starts right after the last one ends, with Ace, Jade, and Zhang trying to find a way to destroy the evil relic but ultimately not succeeding. After some developments and interventions by Baron Zegler, Rory, Arthur, Jade, and Zhang go to London to find Gwen and Ellis and see if they can reach an agreement. After the ending of the last book, they might be onto something.
Lord Fine aka Wesley got himself redeemed at leats for me in this book, he comes across as prickly and rude but I am 100% sure he has a tragic backstory and probably abandoment issues, he acts as a proper friend giving Ace the wake up call he needs and I for one can't wait to read his series Proper Scoundrels I just hope he gets his HEA.
Some twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, and I could not believe what was happening. The last 20% was so anxiety-inducing that I was going crazy to finish it.
I liked a lot how this book ended, I know that it was a bit open and lacking details, but I still think the Love declaration at the end was all this book needed....more

This series is slowly but surely becoming one of my favourites. Sometimes sequels don’t work, but in this case, I’m happy to say it was a great continuation of the storyline.

I’d had it on my TBR for ages, and it wasn’t until my friend mentioned she was reading it that I finally picked it up too.
Now I know I shouldn’t have waited so long, the storyline was captivating from chapter one until the end. I was never bored; in fact, I left another book halfway through just to dive into this one.
The world-building is really well done and written in a way that just makes sense, you don’t have to overthink it, you just go with it. Both Rory and Ace were amazing MCs, never coming across as obnoxious or annoying. Plus, there’s a wonderful cast of supporting characters that made the story even richer.
It ends with a HFN since this is the first book in a trilogy, and I can’t wait to continue reading to see what happens next.

I think reading these “I wanted to just sink into my media downloads for a while and pretend I didn't exist.”
Absolutely obsessed with Murderbot.
I think reading these books will be for me the equivalent of rewatching episodes of "The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon".
In this installment, Murderbot goes on an adventure to investigate what happened when he accidentally (?) killed a bunch of people. Along the way, he ends up very randomly acquiring a new BFF. Listening to Murderbot befriend ART despite his better judgment was extremely funny, and their bonding over watching series was a perfect 10/10. It got to the point where, when Murderbot became anxious after dealing with humans, his bestie, ART, knew exactly what to do. In the feed, ART started to play the soundtrack to Sanctuary Moon, and weirdly, that helped.
I know I’ve said this before, but Murderbot is quite possibly the character with whom I identify the most from all of the books I’ve read. He has such a strong personality, and his thoughts are extremely relatable. He just wants to have a purpose, but also to be left alone and preferably avoid caring about anything while he watches his media. “ART said, What does it want?
To kill all the humans, I answered.
I could feel ART metaphorically clutch its function. If there were no humans, there would be no crew to protect and no reason to do research and fill its databases. It said, That is irrational.
I know, I said, if the humans were dead, who would make the media? It was so outrageous, it sounded like something a human would say.”...more

This book feels like someone read The Nightmare Before Kissmas and said, this is sort of a good idea but reads ridiculous, so let’s make some changes and edit it better, and this book is the result. I cannot stress enough how similar the plots are. Seriously, it’s like the first book, just a bit improved and without the annoying Coal monologues. Plus, Loch actually has a personality that’s more than just wearing corset vests.
Again, I have to ask how or why these brothers are friends with Iris. Seriously, their conversations are so cringe, and let’s be honest, nobody cares about her character enough to want to keep reading a new book about her.
I’m just more convinced now that this author is definitely not for me....more

I admit I was a bit unsure how the addition of the Greek gods would work in what seemed to be another WWI story, but oh boy, I shouldn't have worried.
Hazel and James met in England on the eve of James's deployment to France. The goddess of love knew true potential when she saw it, so we have Aphrodite telling us how they established a tentative and shy friendship that grew into love, both through letters and short visits.
On the other side, we have sweet and sad Collette, who has lost it all and happens to meet and slowly fall in love with musician Aubrey, who is also one of the Black soldiers sent from the US to join the war. Their story is one filled not just with the hardships of war but also with the racism these soldiers faced from their own countrymen.
Both couples go through so much before they manage to find their HEA. Small shoutout to Lord Hades for allowing Hazel to continue her journey.
The book is told as a story from Aphrodite to her husband Hephaestus after he catches her in a golden net with Ares (yes, like in the myth). Later, Apollo, Ares and Hades also contribute to the story of these two couples. I especially loved how we get to see another side of Aphrodite here, instead of just the shallow goddess everyone always assumes her to be

It was like tailor-made for me, it literally had everything I like: two great and very different MCs, an awesome found-family, lots and lots of mythology from different pantheons with all the gods coexisting and calling each other "cousin," and a plot that managed to cover seven books!
“Yes, but the end of it belongs to every pantheon tied to the mortal place. What gets you there at last can be drawn from all of us who came before." Quetzalcoatl showed all his sharp teeth in a smile that left Patrick cold before letting go."Stories are shared, after all. They are how we exist, how we are remembered." "They're also how you die.”
Seriously, if fantasy or mythology interests you, this is the series for you. It follows the same couple throughout, yet never feels repetitive, portraying their growth both as individuals and together.
This last book gave me high anxiety from chapter one. It starts right after the previous book ends, and Patrick is once again having to act at the behest of the gods. At the same time, Jono and their pack have to hold New York City until he comes back and hope it all works out. After all, Patrick did promise he would return, so Jono does his best to keep that in mind.
There are a lot of action scenes as well as amazing banter and dialogue between the Immortals and the humans, werecreatures, and vampires trying to save the Earth and prevent Ethan from forming another Hell to support his myth.
I'm both happy and sad that this series is over. I can't wait to read the other books in the same universe.

But honestly, this has been the most anxiety inducing book in the series so far. There was no respite for my poor god pack. I don’t even know who was more worried about the wedding, me or Sage. And not only that, but the gods were constantly meddling and the FBI and the police were extremely annoying. For a moment it felt like everything that could go wrong happened, and I doubted they could solve it all. This would have ended my sanity. Also, I haven’t forgiven you Casale!...more
