This is a branch off from the Morally Questionable series. There are characters from that series that are at play. Said series, is also where we first met Raf. I would say that you can dive into this story, but maybe read Frivolous, if not, you can check out the family tree of the Deville and Guerra clan. With that being said, I’ve said this before, but you have to be a fan of the author’s writing style and the way she constructs her stories when diving in. I think the scales were tipped a lot with the dark content for this one. Read disclaimer noted before opening to first chapter as it should not be taken lightly.
STORY:
WHAT I LIKED:
A tale of two brothers at war and their hate for each other. The story was mainly focused on RAF, but I love that we were getting POV of both RAF and Michele. It’s slow burn-ish as we are getting a build up from both sides. The story focuses on the revenge because of what Michele did that led to this feud, and the secondary focus was on both females in their life’s.
Michele is giving me sinister vibes. Michele’s triggers are: narcissistic, narcissist abuse, manipulative, grooming, gaslighting (major gaslighting) and violent and probably still missing a few.
He is a very intense character. In the first chapter Michele will turn your stomach with his thoughts and how he views and uses female X. If you make it past the first chapter, congrats, maybe you will be able to deal with his sinister ways as the story progresses, because it gets worst. He is in my top 3 most intense and crazy villains of 2022 so far.
Rafaelo is giving me, I definitely want revenge vibes on all sides. Very scarred as he was sold not once, but twice and he has never been the same. Raf’s character hits a little different for me, because this is someone I’ve come to know from Morally Blasphemous and a little more in Morally Ambiguous. His interactions with Noelle are very interesting, as you will discover, they both have a past that intertwines. Although he wants revenge with regards to Noelle, I liked the way he started doing this with her family around. I found it kind of funny at times as dark as this story was. Noelle, I can not even tell you how strong this female character is for all that was endured. It is going to tear at you and it will be hard.
WHAT WAS SO SO:
I did not really have any issues. I will say that I thought in the beginning that we would get a bit of detailed flashback into Noelle and Raf’s past, however, this book can be intense with the content matter that I am glad we were not taken on that ride.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY
I will not even rate or touch Michele for this one. I will only say this, at around 60-ish%, for Michele, be very mentally prepared for what you are about to read. Raf and Noelle they started out not liking each other, but watching their connection grow, I liked it. Especially with their trauma, this was done well.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
It was good seeing a few faces from MB and MA. It connects with Raf’s past, so no complaints. Also Gianna from Frivolous, it was nice to see how she fits in. The secondary characters helped to keep the story flowing and that’s also a plus. I definitely found Cisco, Noelle’s brother an interesting character individually and when he is around his wife. He gave me hero vibes but low key villain-ish vibes sometimes.
OVERALL:
Was I entertained? Yes.
Did I like the story? Yes. LONGGGG, but yes.
Would I read the other books in the series? Yes.
TRIGGERS: rape (from both sexes) descriptive and talked about, abortion, cruelty, child/infant death, domestic abuse and torture, abuse drugs, drug use, degrading, non con, dub con, etc. I have to stress, the contents gets very dark and really can be triggering, especially if one has experience anything noted in this book, read at your own risk.
NOTES: No cheating
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
