it was amazing

Another fantastic book by Kristin Hannah
I haven’t read much about the Vietnam War.. but, I was born in ‘58 and as a young girl I remember seeing the horrific video and images on the nightly news and.. fortunately for me.. I only knew of one older cousin who got drafted to go to war.
Most everything we saw before, during, and after the war was about the men who were there.. of course it was the men who saw combat.. but women were there too… the nurses trying to patch up mutilated bodies, being alongside the dying as they took their last breaths..the women also endured a lot!
This is the story of the WOMEN… a few of them.. mostly about a young girl Frankie, who after her brother enlisted.. she followed him and was a war nurse in the Army.
I loved the story, mostly the first half that took place in Vietnam during wartime.
So much about this story took me back to those days.. the riots, the political landscape, the war protests, the mention of certain songs.
Wonderful!

Terrie Robinson Wonderful review, Karen! I pre-ordered the audiobook and can't wait for delivery. I'm hoping🤞the music of that era, which IMHO is the best ever, will be the backdrop of the listening experience...lots of memories for me, too!

Thank you Terrie… I bet that will be awesome… I was going on youtube to listen to the songs mentioned in the story because many were favorites of mine and every time I hear them I think back to those years!

Susan C Karen (it’s Sue - think Dave/Fred and “golf) then you know!! I just finished this book - I think back to when the war was taking place (I was born 5 years before you) so I was really in the midst of that time. Our neighbor across the street growing up (A Lieutenant in the Airforce having to go to Vietnam to serve there for 2 years - so we tried to give his family as much support as we could) - but this book I thought was done so well. And I learned more about “the women” and I think that was great what the author did (writing about the women) - usually it’s all about “The Men”!!! Hope you are well - Sue
