Fated Wolf: Fated Mates of Somewhere, Texas is book one in the brand new series Moonbound Packs by Krystal Shannan and Camryn Rhys. If you are a fan of the Von Brandt Family series by these two awesome authors then you will love this. You will have all the characters you have come to love with some new additions as well.
Helena Quade is half human and half shifter. She lives with her father on the pack ranch, the Quade ranch. Helena’s mother is a human. Her pack has no tolerance for human/wolf mates. Her alpha who is her grandfather, forbids it. Still, his own son married a human but she was made to be so unwelcome that she lives elsewhere by herself.
Helena has dreams of proving her worth to her grandfather and working her way up the ladder at the ranch. She is practically running the ranch now. She takes care of everything, giving the male members of the pack the freedom to play. But her grandfather won’t have it. He has never treated Helena respectfully and now he is literally firing her. Their pack is traveling to the VonBrandt’s ranch in Somewhere, Texas for the wolf run and her grandfather has issued an order. Find a mate by the end of the weekend!

To drown her sorrows while at the VonBrandts, Helena and her cousin head in to town to the local bar. Maybe she can have a one night stand, just to forget for a little while. Helena has never done anything like this before, acted so spontaneously. After several drinks, she saw him. Something pulled her to him. He was human but she couldn’t deny the chemistry. Just one night. She just wanted to forget. Then she would go back to the ranch and try to find a mate. But she didn’t want just ANY mate, she wanted her Fated mate.
“She wanted the kind of bond that was a gift from Fate. She believed, no matter what anyone said, that every wolf could have a Fated match if they just waited.”
Ash Carmichael is almost thirty years old. He spent his youth raising his younger sister but now he is a thrill seeker. He rarely spends time in Somewhere with his sister but is trotting off all over the place finding new adventures. But a broken ankle has grounded him for an extended period of time. So he’s home, at least for now. While sitting in the local bar he noticed her as soon as she came in. She was beautiful. This is just what he needed, a beautiful woman to spend the night with, to forget that he is stuck here until his ankle heals.

Ash and Helena shared a night filled with passion and so much more. They talked, they laughed, and they shared an intense connection neither of them expected. But this was a one night stand. Ash had no idea that Helena was more than just a human woman. That on the night of the full moon, she shifted into a beautiful wolf and ran. So when Ash was asleep, Helena had to force herself to leave. To go back to the VonBrandt’s ranch to prepare for the run. And to try to find her true mate. But try as she might, there was no spark with any of the other shifters. Nothing. All she could think about was Ash. And when she started to experience pain that Ash was feeling, the truth hit her. Ash was her fated match. A human! This would never work. Her grandfather would never permit it. There had to be a way to stop it!
When Ash awakens and discovers Helena gone, he knows he has to find her. That this wasn’t a one night stand at all. It was so much more. But he never did get her phone number. How will he find her?

I did enjoy this book. I love going back to Somewhere, Texas and visiting the VonBrandts. Both Ash and Helena definitely had pasts to overcome. Ash with the loss of his childhood and Helena with the perception of human/shifter matches because of her grandfather. Neither of them was prepared for what happened when they met but Fate had a plan for them. All they have to do is to trust that Fate will work everything out.
“The one time she’d let go of her lists and planners and organization…he’d been there waiting. Fate had been waiting.”
