This sequel is not as good as The Bridge Kingdom. However, I still had a lot of fun reading it. If you like romantasy enemies to lovers with a little bit of political scheming, then this is for you.

Keris and Zarrah are cute together, but they act a little bit too helpless to be the heirs to respective powerful nations. Their relationship also felt a bit insta lovey, or maybe it's just because I read it in a day.

I think my biggest problem with this entry in the series is the fact that the story takes place during the events of The Traitor Queen. The stakes didn't feel real because I already knew what was going to happen. Maybe the second book is going to fix this problem. However, I am undecided on whether I care enough to continue.
