Let's start with how hard the cold open goes. This book starts, and I was right in the deep end. I had no clue what was going on, but systems were failing, and people were going to die. The mystery unravels from there. Slowly, I was then introduced to an A.I. system who refers to themselves at Murderbot, sucks at their job, and would rather spend their days watching fictional television dramas.
All I want is for MB to find their humanity, their reason/purpose in life, and their freedom....more

This sequel is not as good as The Bridge Kingdom. However, I still had a lot of fun reading it. If you like romantasy enemies to lovers with a little bit of political scheming, then this is for you.
Keris and Zarrah are cute together, but they act a little bit too helpless to be the heirs to respective powerful nations. Their relationship also felt a bit insta lovey, or maybe it's just because I read it in a day.
I think my biggest problem with this entry in the series is the fact that the story takes place during the events of The Traitor Queen. The stakes didn't feel real because I already knew what was going to happen. Maybe the second book is going to fix this problem. However, I am undecided on whether I care enough to continue....more

I struggled to feel connected to any of the characters. The world felt too fluffy to be this violent. That being said, I'm not a mafia romance girl or a dark romance girl. So reading a dark mafia romance is way outside of my usual preference. The pacing felt clunky, and the mood swings inconsistent. There was also no need for this book to be over 500 pages. If it was shorter, I definitely would have enjoyed myself more.
That being said, I chose to read this book because an instagram quote caught my interest. It delivered on what it promised in that quote. However, the quote held my interest for all 10 seconds. This book did not hold my interest for all 500+ pages....more

It was terrible, but I read every page. I disliked all the characters, but I was kicking my feet at the end. I hated the rivalry, but I was interested in where it was going. Do not read this, but if you do, I won't judge....more
Why did no one tell me that Shakespeare was bisexual and wrote 126 sonnets about his complicated, frustrating, toxic, but beautiful, extremely sexual Why did no one tell me that Shakespeare was bisexual and wrote 126 sonnets about his complicated, frustrating, toxic, but beautiful, extremely sexual relationship with a beautiful young man? I feel like that should have been worthy of mentioning in high school English. The collection then ends with Shakespeare writing about his sexual frustration in 28 sonnets about the dark lady. I will definitely need to reread the sonnet collection, but after a first read, I am surprised by how complex and queer this collection is. Definitely the bisexual or pansexual representation the world needs and should stop erasing....more

However, that being said, this intro read like a list of character ideas. This being said, the ending as it implies each character is to tell stories to compete for who's story is the best does intrigue me. I will read the following sections of the Canterbury Tales for school, and I look forward to them....more

The art, music, plot, characters, world building, everything is so perfect. There simply aren't enough stars to describe how much I love Purple Hyacinth, so I will settle on five, knowing it deserves far more.
Please, please, please do yourself a favor and read Purple Hyacinth on webtoon. It is so good and completely FREE.
The characters in this story have my heart. I love each and every one of them so fiercely it sometimes hurts. Kieran White has brought me to tears on countless occasions. He is simply a perfect example of a complex character desperately in need of a hug. Lauren Sinclair is another fabulous main character. I feel her loss and her desperate desire to know the truth so deeply. These two are perfect, complicated, messy, morally grey heros. They are enemies. However, they are eachothers best allies. I sobbed my eyes out as the two became friends despite their best attempts at maintaining distance. They complicate each other so perfectly through the dynamic that if your worst enemy can be made human in your eyes, then surely everyone else on the other side is simply that human.
The world of Purple Hyacinth is complex, it's dynamic. Please take the time to read this life changing beautiful story. I'm sorry for the tears you will cry. But you are welcome for the amazing recommendation....more
