♡ Plot ♡

Lottie needs a rich husband ASAP. When she's fired from her job and has officially hit rock bottom, it seems like there are very few ways to climb out of it. The thing is, she never really expected to meet a rich man. Especially one who needed a fake fiancé. Huxley is a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. He draws up a contract for him and Lottie. The two agree to participate in this arrangement so Huxley is able to keep a business deal intact and Lottie doesn't have to worry about becoming homeless. But the pair starts to realize some things are easier said than done.

i would rather throw myself onto a flaming trampoline than go through this again. this being said, this could be my next knockemout moment where i hate all the books and reread them anyways lottie was like 'i'M nOt a gOLDiGgEr' but then went walking around a richneighborhood specifically looking for a RICH HUSBAND. i think it just bothered me so much because it was so unrealistic 😭😭 like i get that books are an escapism and sometimes the point is that what your reading will never happen, but come on. she goes looking for a rich hubby and just happens to find one in less than an hour? girl bye. maybe i need to take a walk too.

Huxley would be a dick and she would just, like, glare at him and go off about how mean he is. YOU ARE A GROWN WOMAN. WHO IS ABLE TO LEAVE. GO. RUN. DON'T TURN BACK. THE DOOR IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES. she just had no sense of self-preservation and was lowkey dramatic. 🕊️✌️

this is my no-no square, you cannot touch me there. those are some wise words for Huxley Cane. also, who the hell names their child Huxley. if your name is Huxley and you're reading my review right now, i'm sure you're a stunning person, but please give me your parents address. i just wanna talk to them. okay but back to the book, Huxley was a demanding asshole 😭😭 he was so mean to Lottie and about halfway through the book he had this 180 where you learn that *gasp he's a secret softie!!! AND HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE A GRILLED CHEESE??? YOU GRILL CHEESE. ON BREAD. IT'S IN THE NAME. someone put me out of my misery.

you might be wondering, after how thoroughly i trashed this book, how i decided to rate it three stars. well. i only have one unfortunate explanation. i did . . . enjoy . . . some parts. Huxley and Lottie could occasionally be cute and had me smiling and once--laugh. this book was horrible, i just don't think it was for me. i'm glad i read it, i'm just not sure if i'll be coming back or not.

this all just felt so messy. it wasn't what i thought it would be and it's rated so highly, so i was a little disappointed to say the least.

not my favorite writing. there would be quotes like *scratches head* and it in fact made me want to scratch my head with a jackhammer 🥰🥰

would i recommend this? maybe to someone who has a deep love for romcoms. maybe i'm the problem here, but i just found this to be cringeworthy and awkward. i love romance books more than life, but this didn't hit the way i thought it would. it was a solid three because i did find myself occasionally enjoying it, but the rest of it was ✨eh✨
