“Be a rule breaker with me.”

Gable Powers-

Model Andrew England 3

☑ Tall, dark, tatted, and handsome
☑ Bonafide Manwhore.Ladies man.Commitment phobe.
☑ Dirty-talker extraordinaire

10520755 729956120416896 2852344213302191575 n

☑ One of four panty-melting Powers brothers (Zeke, Ryker, Lochlan)

Gable is like the Travis Maddox of Hallervan University minus the underground fighting and impulsive tantrums. He’s described to be the “uncouth, rude, and too wild” one out of his brothers, and like the rest of his beautifully gifted blood DNA, he has his fair pick of willing women but chooses not to commit to any girl after being burned before by the stake of love...

That is, until he meets Scout—the one girl who doesn’t fawn over him and put up with his bullsh*#. She is after all, the exception to his rule…the only person who sees and accepts him as he truly is...his one and only game changer…and she’s all his.

“You took all the bad inside me and replaced it with hope. Woke me up…made me feel something again.”

“You gave me stitches, Scout.”

Scout Patterson-

1321285 bigthumbnail

☑ Upcoming journalist hopeful
☑ Country girl from a small town who carries similar plight like Gable in the romance and betrayal department.
☑ The only girl in a family full of protective men (her mother is deceased).

Scout is just your average girl who moves to Washington from Idaho (where she’s from) on a scholarship to attend Hallervan Uni. She wants to live a normal college life, but as luck would have it, the bad boy of campus sets his eye on her and she’s forever caught up in his web.

My two-cents:
Gable was a good start for The Powers That Be series. Granted, it did remind me a tad of an inkling of Tammara Webber’s Easy in regards to the whole pen-pal emailing thing and not knowing who the other person is (at first!) on the other end…But! I thought it was cute. And uh, uber sexy after a while! *wink wink!*

As for content—well…. I actually would have liked more interaction and dialogue between Gable and Scout before they actually got to together and declared their love to one another. I mean, a lot of their “actual talks” came in through the emails or texts but never in person. I get that with the whole pen-paling aspect of their relationship, that it initially started as an innocent school assignment (*which I may add, felt like a pointless tandem thrown as a ploy in the plot because the endeavor never went anywhere*) that was supposed to remain anonymous with both recipients not to reveal who their identities. But, as this is a story with characters that are not dumb and oblivious to their surroundings, they eventually figure out who they’re spilling the beans and their secrets to (-subtracting the big oopsie that Gable’s little brother reveals to Scout) early on and from there, it’s a matter of “what” and “where” they’re going to take things from there.

Both Gable and Scout spent a lot of the book running away from each other and their feelings due to being hurt in the past by friends and lovers. Their situations create a somewhat even battlefield as both have experiences parallel twinges in the woes of love (although Gable’s one ended up in tragedy) and therefore created a type of camaraderie and unspoken understanding between the two that helped build on their friendship and romance.

So, my verdict?
A wonderful read that I *no joke* read in just one sitting!! I was that hooked!! I hope that in Zeke’s and the rest of Gable’s brothers’ upcoming stories, that there will feature even more background and interaction between the brothers, their family as well as the female protagonists.

Otherwise, an addicting and engaging story that kept me fanning myself and wanting MORE Gable!! Hehe!!

Great job, Ms. Bentley! September 2015?! Omigah, I'm going to die!! I want Zeke NOW!! *pouts* lol♥
