I started this book on Saturday, only briefly remembered its existence on Sunday and today I just said fuck it. I refuse to have another book lounging on my currently reading list, guilting me with its beady little eyes. I can talk to my mother about why we're not BFFs 5-EVAH like her friends and their daughters if I really want to feel guilty, book!

Anyway, I don't know why I couldn't connect with Cronin's Key. It had many elements I enjoy in a novel: paranormal stuff, soulmate stuff, a cop MC, a ginger MC, a vampire MC, a Scottish MC (three of those are the same person, btw). Also, a vampire history lesson. Which, again, I generally enjoy.

But all I got from it was a big ol'

But I'm still counting it as read. CUZ I DO WHAT I WANT SO FUCK YOU.

I don't know who I'm yelling at. Probably the voice in my head that likes to make up rules like "you can't mark a book as read unless you read at least half of it." What an asshole.

I'm a rebel, baby! Ha!

Yeah, this is also why I haven't read Red Dirt Heart yet. I've like some of Walker's stuff, but for the most part she's just not my author. I dunno why.

Borderstar Oh god, you have one of those voices too?! Yeah mine makes all sorts of rules up for me :/ I'm having the same issue with this book - but I started it about a month ago and got to 15%, then promptly forgot about it until I saw your update! lol

Ha! That's funny. :) Glad I'm not the only forgetful one with rule-loving voices in her head.

Karen Sorry this one didn't work for you but from someone who recently persevered with a book she should have done a DNF on. I say 'go you!'. No point in torturing yourself unless of course you're going to enjoy it ;-)

Exactly my thought, Karen. ;)

message 20: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. All I did was read the sample of the story. It totally failed to catch my attention I think, in part, because there was no conflict between the two main characters - it was way too smooth and easy. Boring, in other words. Now if there'd been some conflict or the cop had actually tried to fight his automatic acceptance of the situation, I might have actually purchased the story. I kept falling asleep though, so ...

message 21: by Rosa, really (new) - added it

Rosa, really Yeah, that was one of my problems with it too. They didn't even so much as kiss for first 21% and I still thought it was too easy. On the other hand there are those fated mate books where one MC spends the entire time fighting it and that annoys the shit out of me as well. So who knows.

Optimist ♰King's Wench♰ But I'm still counting it as read. CUZ I DO WHAT I WANT SO FUCK YOU.

Actually cackled aloud. Thanks. I needed that.

message 24: by Therese (new)

Therese Great review Rosa! After reading it, I think I will bump the sample down my long, long list...(but maybe I'll enjoy it, so far I've liked the Walker books I've read).
Ach well, better luck with the next one!

message 25: by Rosa, really (new) - added it

Rosa, really Nah, don't go by me, Therese. Everybody and their poodle liked this book. But thank you! :)
