Riordan is an intelligent author. Let me explain a little better…
I think that he is intelligent not only because he takes advantage of the countless legends, monsters and gods that plague the Greek mythology, but also for the combination that he has created between a current society represented by a New York teenager and the ancient world of Greek mythology. It’s this "cultural crash" I like the most in all his books, the way a teenager has to face an archaic reality which is unknown for him but that is part of his dna. In this second book, Riordan tells us a story based in a myth that most of mythology fans will surely know but which nevertheless it won’t make lose the interest. In general, I think Percy Jackson books are a good youth adult reading and a great way to learn about the myths and legends of the cradle of our civilization.

Riordan es un autor inteligente. Dejad que me explique un poco mejor. No solo es inteligente porqué aprovecha a su favor la infinidad de leyendas, monstruos y dioses que plagan la mitología griega, sino también por la combinación que ha conseguido crear entre una sociedad actual representada por un adolescente neoyorkino y el mundo antiguo de la mitología griega. Es precisamente este “choque cultural” el que más me gusta de sus libros, el cómo un adolescente urbanita tiene que enfrentarse a una realidad arcaica que le es desconocida pero que a la vez forma parte de su adn. En este segundo libro Riordan nos adentra en una nueva historia que los aficionados a la mitología seguramente conocerán pero que no por ello hace que pierdas el interés. En general considero que los libros de Percy Jackson son una buena lectura juvenil y una gran forma de conocer los mitos y leyendas de la cuna de nuestra civilización actual.
