I picked this book up with some trepidation but liked the sound of it so hoped for the best, and I’m glad I did, overall this was a pleasing read.
This book reminded me a little of Kristen Ashley’s The Golden Dynasty, but for me Captive of the Horde King, was a far more palatable read and thus a more enjoyable read. Unlike, The Golden Dynasty, rape does not occur in this story, and it along with the abuse of women is not a naturalised component of the Dakkar culture.
Dakkar is the native planet of the Dakkari Horde, with all other species such as Luna’s being transplants/settlers, as all settlers much abide by the laws of the Horde or face their wrath/punishment. Luna is a human who in an attempt to protect her younger brother from the wrath of Dakkari gives herself to one of the Horde Kings, assuming she will either die or become his whore – what she doesn’t expect is that he will make her (view spoiler)
Luna is thrust into a strange environment where she does not understand the customs or language and as a reader you learn along with her, and as she does she has to also deal with her unexpected desire and affection for the warrior King she is now bound to.
What I liked about this book was that due to the King knowing the universal language he and Luna could talk to each other and did not need to rely on a translator.
There are those who are unhappy about the human King having Luna at his side and others who wish to use her to punish him but I’m happy to say this book ends in a HEA.
This as a nice little morsel that I see myself picking up again at some point.
Acquired via KU.

Thanks Monique.
I know what you mean I love alien romances but I've found some horrors over the years, so I'm always extra happy when it's a good one ;-)
Yay happy reading, I think you'll enjoy this :-)
