"Effortless to Use, Lightning Fast, and Outstanding Support"
What do you like best about Umbraco?

As a daily user of Umbraco, I find it very easy to use. The user interface is clearly laid out, making it simple for new users to learn the CMS quickly, which is especially helpful since I am responsible for training others. We make use of the news and events features on our website, and the way Umbraco automatically renders images is extremely convenient, saving us a lot of time. The load times are probably the fastest I have experienced; moving between content, media, and forms is seamless. Whenever we have encountered issues, the Umbraco team has been quick to respond and resolve our tickets, showing great responsiveness. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Umbraco?

Small details, such as the absence of a clear format button when uploading copy to a webpage, can be frustrating. It would be much more convenient if there were an option to upload media—like pictures or documents—in bulk and then adjust all their properties from a single page, rather than having to edit each one individually. This would save a lot of time. Similarly, having the ability to delete or move multiple pages at once would also be a helpful improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best CMS on the market; by a long shot"
What do you like best about Umbraco?

I have been using Umbraco for over 5 years at this point. Daily use.

I've seen my fair share of content management systems, from Wordpress, Joomla to custom built ones some of which i've even built myself. However, generally, there's not much Umbraco can't do.

Extremely easy to get set up initially.

It's also easy enough to expand Umbraco, to integrate various packages or even to write your own backoffice plugins, dashboards, packages or content apps.

Umbraco is lightweight without a lot of the extra fluff; the best user and member experience you could get in my opinion.

Customer Support has been good for us, especially as we're Umbraco partners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Flexible and Developer-Friendly CMS Built on .NET"
What do you like best about Umbraco?

What I appreciate most about Umbraco is its balance between flexibility and structure. It offers a robust CMS foundation while allowing developers to build fully customized solutions in .NET. This makes it suitable for everything from straightforward content sites to complex digital platforms. The intuitive backoffice also empowers editors to manage content efficiently without technical expertise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Umbraco?

Upgrading between major Umbraco versions can sometimes be challenging, particularly when dealing with custom code or third-party packages. However, the improvements and new capabilities introduced in each release make the effort worthwhile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive CMS with plenty of customisation options"
What do you like best about Umbraco?

Umbraco's open source nature is fantastic for implementing additional functionality. This, in turn, allows you to customise everything to suit your business needs and goals. The platform is also incredibly intuitive and since we started using Umbraco ten months ago I've been able to train other in-house users with ease. From a campaign perspective, having the option of conditional fields within Forms is a huge benefit and it's a feature we use often when catering content to specific audiences. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Umbraco?

When in grid view and looking at lots of uploaded documents, Umbraco doesn't allow you to drag the column outwards to reveal the full PDF name. This can be frustrating when trying to locate multiple, similarly named documents in a particular folder. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Friendly and flexible"
What do you like best about Umbraco?

I really like Umbraco because of how incredibly flexible it is, it adapts to a wide range of project needs, whether you're building a simple site or a complex application. Development can move fast thanks to its robust out of the box features, which save time without sacrificing customisation. The diverse ecosystem of packages makes it easy to extend functionality without reinventing the wheel, and for someone new to content management systems, Umbraco is a fantastic learning platform. Its intuitive interface and strong community support make it approachable, while still offering depth for more advanced users.

Umbraco is also very user friendly when it comes to managing content. Adding and editing pages is straightforward, with a clean interface that makes it easy to navigate even for beginners. You can make changes quickly and preview exactly how they'll appear before publishing, which gives you confidence that everything looks just right. This real-time feedback loop is especially helpful when collaborating with clients or stakeholders who want to see updates instantly. It streamlines the content workflow and helps maintain a polished, professional site without unnecessary delays. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Umbraco?

One aspect of Umbraco that I find frustrating is working with nested content. While it's powerful for structuring complex data, it can quickly become overwhelming when there are too many layers buried within each other. Navigating through deeply nested fields to make a simple change often feels tedious and unintuitive, especially when you're trying to maintain clarity across multiple content types. It can slow down the editing process and make it harder to spot where specific content lives, which isn't ideal when you're aiming for efficiency or collaborating with less technical users.

I also wish you could see exactly what changes were made when reviewing the history of the page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful, Flexible, and Developer-Centric: Umbraco Cloud is Our Go-To for a Reason"
What do you like best about Umbraco?

As a team managing multiple channels (website, adviser portal, etc.) across a three-platform environment (dev, staging, production), Umbraco Cloud has been a game-changer. Since our preferred technology stack is Microsoft, the fact that Umbraco is built on the .NET framework was a major advantage. It allowed us to leverage our existing in-house expertise, which contributed to a remarkably smooth ease of implementation.

The platform's flexibility from a development perspective is its best feature. The ability to write our own custom property editors is invaluable, allowing us to tailor the content management experience precisely to our editors' needs. This simplifies complex tasks and ensures brand consistency. Furthermore, the power to add custom APIs gives us the headless capabilities we need to integrate Umbraco seamlessly with our other business-critical systems.

Whenever we've needed guidance, the documentation has been readily available and comprehensive. On the rare occasion we've hit a roadblock, the support has been incredibly responsive and knowledgeable. Combined with the streamlined deployment pipeline and the ability to easily add our custom domain, Umbraco Cloud provides the perfect balance of creative freedom and enterprise-level reliability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Umbraco?

While the flexibility is a huge plus, it comes with a steeper learning curve compared to more restrictive, plug-and-play CMS platforms. A developer new to the Umbraco or .NET ecosystem will need some ramp-up time to fully grasp its architecture and best practices.

Additionally, while the core product is solid, the quality of third-party packages can sometimes be inconsistent. It requires a bit of due diligence from our development team to vet packages before integrating them to ensure they are stable, secure, and well-maintained. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to Use and Great for Brand Consistency, But Requires Lots of Clicking"
What do you like best about Umbraco?

We're just launching our new website with Umbraco, so we're learning everything it can do. Initially, it's allowing our employees to create a standardized look for our product offerings. Using the various modules, we can maintain our brand throughout all pages. It's very easy to use and has straightforward navigation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Umbraco?

There's a lot of clicking to add various content pieces to the flexible content areas. We also have lots of products (which are pages), and there's no easy way to search or find the pages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solid and can be convenient but some obvious areas for improvement"
What do you like best about Umbraco?

I like the centralised media function and the ease of use when choosing and implementing modules. Being able to use custom presets and copy/paste modules has been a very big help when putting content across many pages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Umbraco?

It feels like there isn't enough control on my end on how exactly modules can look on a page compared to competitors' CMS systems. Basic HTML functionality appears as an option but when I try to use it the HTML changes I make do not apply when previewing/publishing a module. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful, customisable CMS for all."
What do you like best about Umbraco?

Umbraco's ecosystem keeps growing and with version 14 dropping Angular and using Web Components, TypeScript, and the Umbraco UI Library the back office experience just keeps getting better, this along with the new RESTful API it makes managing content from the code side even easier, especially with integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Umbraco?

With dropping Angular and using the new back office this has lead to some teething issues, things that used to work no longer do or things often work in a different way than we are used to, these bugs do get fixed at a fast pace but it's still frustrating at times. "Efficient and User-Friendly with Strong Support"
What do you like best about Umbraco?

I love how Umbraco makes web editing tasks straightforward and efficient, dramatically easing the process of managing website content. The simplicity of logging in and editing articles quickly stands out to me as a major benefit. I find the drag-and-drop feature extremely useful as it allows me to maneuver elements smoothly within the editor. Additionally, the rich text editors provide great versatility in content management, and the ability to copy blocks from one article to another streamlines my workflow significantly. Umbraco handles updates and new document uploads with seamless efficiency, resolving previous difficulties I've faced with content management. The support I've received has been extensive, making initial setup very simple and tackling any issues that arise. This ease of use enables me to focus on other tasks, enhancing my productivity throughout the day. Overall, the features Umbraco offers are invaluable in making my work faster and more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Umbraco?

I find the process of inputting images and videos into Umbraco not as straightforward as it could be, and making this process simpler would be beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
