Clockout Blow is Mario's fourth Bros. Attack in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It is one of Technikki's inventions, which is given to the brothers alongside Yoo Who Cannon before the two embark on an undercover investigation on Offandon Island. According to Technikki, the item was built upon the work of her fellow genius inventor and rival, Adaphne. Its name is a pun on "knockout" and "clock." This attack is somewhat similar to Magic Window, as both involve the player reacting to which Mario Bro. is about to strike the enemy. The item that Mario uses to initiate the attack is a blue stopwatch resembling a + Clock.

Costing 12 BP to activate, the clockwork rapidly speeds up Mario and Luigi's movement, additionally causing their perception of everything else to slow to a crawl and become monochromatic. Dashing quickly around the battlefield, the Bros. then randomly close in on a grounded enemy, entering a short bullet time period during which the player must input A Button or B Button depending on which brother is attacking. Failing to do so makes the bro slip and do less damage. This repeats eight times regardless of any misinputs. Successfully performing every Action Command allows one of the brothers to launch an enemy upward at the eighth strike, allowing the other bro to hit that enemy four times in midair. Finally, both brothers appear together for a final strike where they hit the enemy into the ground with X Button. If the only enemies on the field are flying enemies (including bosses), the attacking bro will miss their first move and cause the attack to end early.

Despite it appearing that a random brother attacks for each hit, there are only two sequences of inputs the game can choose. The first brother to appear can be used to tell what sequence of inputs must be performed.

  • Input sequence one: A Button B Button A Button A Button B Button B Button A Button A Button B Button B Button B Button B Button X Button.
  • Input sequence two: B Button A Button B Button B Button B Button A Button A Button B Button A Button A Button A Button A Button X Button.
