"Figure-8 Circuit"[1] is a musical theme composed by Shinobu Nagata for Mario Kart DS, where it plays in Figure-8 Circuit (outside of mission 2-2) and Mario Circuit. This theme is used as a recurring motif throughout the game.

Mario Kart DS[edit]
Mario Kart DS marks the first appearance of "Figure-8 Circuit". In the kiosk demo version of the game, the theme is in the key of C major and uses different instruments.
The game also features eight additional arrangements of the theme.
- The title screen theme of Mario Kart DS incorporates "Figure-8 Circuit" as its B section.
- The theme that plays in Shroom Ridge quotes "Figure-8 Circuit".
- The theme that plays in Delfino Square quotes "Figure-8 Circuit".
- The theme that plays in Waluigi Pinball quotes "Figure-8 Circuit" approximately 32 seconds.
- The theme that plays in Battle Mode quotes "Figure-8 Circuit" 9 seconds in.
- The themes that play during the cutscene showing the top 3 drivers and in the game's trophy screen quote "Figure-8 Circuit".
- The theme that plays during the game's staff credits quotes "Figure-8 Circuit".

Mario Kart Tour[edit]
In Mario Kart Tour, an arrangement of "Figure-8 Circuit" plays in DS Mario Circuit. This arrangement uses higher-quality samples, but it is otherwise near identical to the original.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as part of Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass, an arrangement of "Figure-8 Circuit" plays in DS Mario Circuit. It is likewise titled "DS Mario Circuit" in the Nintendo Music app. A looping drum set beat is added to the instrumentation whenever the player is driving at top speed while in first place.

Mario Kart World[edit]
In Mario Kart World, a jazz-funk arrangement of "Figure-8 Circuit" can play in Free Roam during the day. It is fully titled "Figure-8 Circuit (Mario Kart DS)" in the Nintendo Music app. The corresponding Nintendo Music image depicts a race on Mario Bros. Circuit, a scenario in which the arrangement cannot play. The arrangement has a section that references "the lick".
