Introduction
The word “Immersion” as it applies to the K to 12 curriculum is defined in the
Department of Education (DepEd) order No. 40, series of 2015:
Work Immersion refers to the part of the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum
consists of 240 of hands–on experience or work simulation, which the Grade 12
students will undergo to expose them to the actual workplace setting and to enrich the
competencies provided by the school under the supervision of the School Head and
designated personnel of the partner.
Work immersion is one of the best training methods since it is well organized
and conducted in a place where students will become productive and well developed. It
exposes them to the actual work related to their course. It help them to learn and
understand more the concept they had discussed in class. But what are the issues and
problems encountered by students doing work immersion?
One of its downside is safety. Since work immersion is done outside the
campus, supervision from teachers is necessary. Less or no supervision at all is risky
on the student’s side and there are cases that the school is not liable to anything that
will happen to the students. This is not just a burden to the parents but to the school as
well. Another one is the variety of results. Though one of the students to develop its
abilities and capabilities related to the subject matter, we cannot deny the fact the
development varies from person to person. To some it might be a very productive

immersion but to others, it might be successful. So constant evaluation and monitoring
is needed.
According to Department of Education order No. 30 s. 2017, one of the goals of
the K to 12 Basic Education program is develop in learners the competencies, work
ethics and values relevant to pursuing further education and or joining the world of
work. In order that the nations development target will be realized and to achieve
greater congruence with the basic education, work immersion is a required subject that
has been incorporated in the curriculum.
Under Annex A of Work immersion Curriculum Guide, it was emphasized that through
work immersion, students are exposed to and become familiar with work related
environment related to their field of specialization to enhance their competence. This
is for purpose that the students can relate directly to their postsecondary goal. Based
from these facts, this senior High School, they would have already acquired almost all
the competencies and skills that would prepare them for the curriculum exits (Higher
education, employment, middle-skills development and entrepreneuership) Work
immersion provides them with an avenue to apply what they have learned in a non-
school scenario. In work immersion, leaners are not only able to apply their previous
training but are also able to experience the social interactions in a work environment.
Their experiences during work immersion will develop many skills and values that
would help them as they trasition from high school to real life. In addition, Deped

order No. 40,s.2015 believed that in order to achieve its desired goals and objectives
work immersion needs to establish partnerships for work immersion opportunities for
students among others.

METHODOLOGY
The researchers will use descriptive method research in determining the
common problems on difficulties encountered by the Senior high students in their work
immersion. This study will be conducted in public school of Linao national high school
senior high students, the researcher choose the location of this study. It would help the
respondent by the giving the questions they given.
The instrument used in this study is researcher made questionnaire checklist to
gather the need data for the students profile. Questionnaires will be given to the whole
senior high students in Grade 12. Because they experience the work immersion, how
they communicate to the outside world. What problems they encountered during their
work immersion, How they solve the situation they encountered.
