ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
Alice: The only way to achieve the imposible is to believe that is posible. Our
work here is done. But let me tell you how we got here…
SCENE 1
-Alice is reunited with her mother-
Alice’s mother: Here you are, finally.
A lady: Miss Kingsleigh? You and the Wonder have been expected for over a
year.
Alice: There were complications, pirates and such, well… Could you tell to Lord
Ascot that I would like to see him immediately?
A lady: I’m afraid Lord Ascot passed away whilst you were at sea. The title’s
been passed on to his son.
Alice: Hamish?
A lady: Now chairman of the board.
Alice: How unfortunate.
-Alice leaves with her mother-
Alice’s mother: Your letters were so infrequent. I hardly know where you’ve
been all this time.
Alice: Mother, China’s incredible. We followed the Yangtze deel into the
interior. Most of the people had never seen a person with yellow hair before.
Alice’s mother: Were you never afraid?
Alice: Of course. But, when I was, I remember my dad.
Alice’s mother: You sound just like him.
Alice: I miss him.
Alice’s mother: I do, too. But the years pass quickly for me now. Time is a cruel
master.
Alice: Time is a thief and a villain.
Alice’s mother: I hear the Ascots are making Hamish’s succession tonight.
Alice: Perfect, we should go. Lady Ascot said that we will always be welcome.
Besides, I have a proposition for Hamish.
Alice’s mother: Hamish married last year, Alice. He seems to have got over your
public rejection.
Alice: A bussiness proposition, Mother.
Alice’s mother: Are you leaving again? So soon? There are matters here which
might benefit from your attention.
Alice: After my next voyage you won’t have to worry about anything.
Alice’s mother: Am I permitted to worry about tonight?
SCENE 2
(CLASICAL MUSIC PLAYING)
(They arrived at Hamish residence)
A lady: Miss Kingsleigh, what are you doing here?
Alice: I’ve come to give my report to Lord Ascot.
A lady: Right, well, follow me
-She guides them to where Hamish is-
Hamish: Alice. Well. Welcome home. We were afraid you might never come
back with our ship.
Alice: My ship. Hello, Hamish.
Hamish: It’s proper to refer to me as Lord Ascot. I know you’ve traveled the
world these last three years.
Alice: Yes. I’ve just returned.
Hamish: Well, then how was it?
Alice: The world?
Hamish: Yes
Alice: So enjoyable. You should visit it sometime.
(HAMISH SNICKERING)
Alice: Well, I’ve come to give my report.
Hamish: Of course, follow me, Miss Kingsleigh.
-They arrive at a private room-
Alice: The world has opened to us, we need to have more expeditions in
different rivers
Hamish: I’m sorry, Miss Kingsleigh. There will be no further expeditions.
Alice: What?
Hamish: Now, there is a position in the administrative office. You will start in
archives but on time ...
Alice: This isn’t about China, is it? It’s because I decided not to marry you
Hamish: I am sorry, Miss Kingsleigh, but this is all we can do for you. No other
company is in the business of hiring employees. And less women captains of the
ships.
Alice: You can’t do this. I own 10% of the Company. Your father gave me those
actions for me.
Hamish: Oh, correction. He gave them to your mother who sold them to me a
year ago, while you were gone with the bond of the house.
Alice: Her house?
Hamish: The bond we will redeem against your ship.
Alice: But that was my father’s ship. How I give up the “Wonder”?
Hamish: In fact, you will redeem the house. Introduce yourself to work on
Monday morning and you will receive a salary and a pension, otherwise, we
cannot help you or your mother.
SCENE 3
-Alice's mom appears-
Alice’s mother: Alice…, Alice!
Alice: How could you sell our actions?
Alice’s mother: Everything I do is for you, Alice. So you can make a decent start
in life.
Alice: Five minutes ago I was a sea captain.
Alice’s mother: A sea captain is no job for a lady. Time is against you, and
you’re being careless with it. The Wonder is just a ship.
-Alice runs away-
SCENE 4
Alice: Do I give up the “wonder” ship and the impossible? So who will I be?
Absolem: You’re Alice, of course.
Alice: Absolem?
-Absolem flies, and guides her to the mirror-
SCENE 5
Alice: How curious!
Absolem: You’ve been gone too long, Alice. And he will be gone before long.
Alice: Who will be gone? What has happened?
-Alice starts walking and arrives at the White Queen's Castle-
Rabbit: Oh, Alice. Thank goodness you’re finally here.
Smiling: It’s that girl again.
Rabbit: She’s late.
Alice: Have I come at a bad time?
Mirana: On the contrary. We were afraid you weren’t coming at all, we needed
to see you urgently.
Alice: What’s the matter?
Rabbit: The Hatter’s the matter.
Smiling: Or the matter of the Hatter.
Alice: Hatter?
Rabbit: He’s mad
Alice: Yes, I know, that’s his muchness. That’s what makes him so…. him
Smiling: And no scheme of ours can raise any sort of smile. We rather hoped
you might help us save him.
Alice: What happened?
Rabbit: There was a great storm. We ventured out into the Tulgey Woods to
investigate each site.
Smiling: Hatter was perfectly hatterish. Until…that blue paper hat… somehow
put him in mind…of his father’s tragedy. Slain by the Jabberwocky on
Horunvendush Day many years ago.
Rabbit: He’s just not himself anymore, that’s so terrible.
Mirana: But, if anything could bring the Hatter back as he usually is, it would be
seeing you again.
Alice: Well, where is he?
They point to the Hatter
Hatter: Go away!
Alice: Hatter, it’s me. Alice.
Hatter: Alice! You’re you. And you’re here. –(They hug)-. Are you, aren’t you?
Alice: Yes, Hatter.
Hatter: Good. You’re the only one. But you’ve always been Alice. And that’s
how I know you’ll believe me.
Alice: I missed you, Hatter.
Hatter: It’s my father, Alice.
Alice: Your father?
Hatter: Yes. My father. I lost him for many years. Or so I thought. Look –(He
shows her the little hat)-. I found this. The first hat I ever made. I thought I’d
tosed it away long, long ago. It’s imposible for it to be here, so if this hat
survived….my father must have too.
Alice: But, Hatter, that’s….
Hatter: I thought I wasn’t worthy of the Hightopp name , my father was a very
serious man. We had a terrible fight. I never said I was sorry when I had the
chance. But this means…that I can make things right .Do you believe me, don’t
you, Alice?
Alice: I want to. What can I do?
Hatter: Of course….My Alice… you could bring my father back to me.
Alice: The thing is…your father died. Long ago. You told me so yourself. No one
can bring him back. I’m sorry. But it’s…..it’s impossible
Hatter: No one but you…You are not you. Get out. I don’t know who you are.
You’re not my Alice. My Alice would believe me.
Alice: Hatter! Please!
-The Hatter leaves-
SCENE 6
Alice: We need to do something. He’s so terribly ill. I fear he’s…dying.
Smiling: We can’t lose him, Alice, we can’t… we really love him
Alice: He said, to make him better, I must bring his father back. But that…can’t
be possible
Mirana: Unless it could… Unless there was a way… yes… the only way!
Rabbit: What? No, no, no. You mustn’t.
Mirana: It is dangerous, vey dangerous. I could not ask you something to harm
you and harm us, but… It is too much to ask!
Alice: What is it?
Mirana: Alice, you must travel back in time
Rabbit: Oh no, it's risky…
Mirana: Go back into the past and save the Hatter’s father. If the Hatter’s
delusion is made true...then he would be made well again.
Alice: Go back in time? But how?
Smiling: The Chronosphere…
Mirana: The source that powers the Grand Clock of All Time. Legend has, it also
lets one travel across the Ocean of time. None of us can use it because we’ve
already been in the past and if your past self sees your future self.
Alice: What happens?
Mirana: There is no history of it happening. Nobody talks about the result, but it
is said that if it were to happen…everything would be history.
Alice: That sounds very dangerous.
Rabbit: But you’re not from here, only you can use it, Alice.
Smiling: It’s not impossible…merely… you can do it!
Alice: Hatter is my best friend. If he need me, I will help him.
-All cheering-
Alice: Where exactly is this Chronosphere?
Mirana: In the hands of Time. It’s his.
Alice: I’m sorry. Time is a he?
-Mirana guides her to the Grand Clock-
Mirana: He lives in a void of infinitude, in a castly of eternity.
Alice: Find Time’s castle, borrow the Chronosphere, and travel back in time to
save the Hatter’sfather so I will save the Hatter too.
Smiling: And remember, don’t try to break the past, present, or future!
Mirana: Shhh smiling!
Smiling: I was only trying to help.
Mirana: Hatter’s counting on you, we want everything to go well
Smiling: We all are, go carefully.
-Alice enters within the clock and reaches the time castle-
SCENE 7
Alice: Anybody here? Hello?
Time: Will this day never end? It clings to me like a país of sweaty pantaloons….
Who is here? I saw you. How did you get in? Come out, you little, wriggling
worm!
Alice: Hello…
Time: Oh. It’s a girl.
Alice: Please, sir. I’m sorry to disturb you but if I could just have a moment of
your time.
Time: Time? Young lady….I am time, the infinite, the eternal, the inmortal. Unless
you have a clock. So, being Time.. I must five some of myself for you to have
me. Are you following what I’m saying?
Alice: Yes.
Time: Really? Oh. Do you promise to be concise?
Alice: Well, my friend is in mortal danger.
Time: Enough of your incessant jabbering! I have important work to do.
-The Time leaves and Alice follows him-
Alice: Please! I need to talk about it
Time: Everyone parts with everything eventually, my dear. Look the magnificent
Grand Clock of All Time. He is me, and I am he....and all that was or ever shall
be. I thought up that poem… How is, uh, my invincible machine, hmm?
Wilkins: Well, it’s …oh
Time: Silence!. You will speak when you are spoken too. The machine, Wilkins.
How is it?
Wilkins: Umm…
Alice: Hello. And who are you?
Time: These miniscule artisans are my Seconds.
Alice: I suppose every Secons counts.
Time: Count? I wish. They are rather stupid…… That was rude of me. I’m sorry...
So, your question. What is it? You have one minute exactly.
Alice: It’s about my best friend… Hatter… He’s thinks that his father is still alive.
And of course, his father cannnot really be alive because you see the
Jabberwocky killed his father on the Horunvendush Day, and I killed the
Jabberwocky and I’d like your permission to borrow the Chronosphere.
Time: AH! The Chronosphere. You want to borrow it. Loan it. Purloin it.
Alice: Yes.
Time: You ask….. to disintegrate history. The Chronosphere powers the Grand
Clock.
Alice: But I need it.
Time: Can someone please remove this, uh…yellow-haired kindergartener,
here.
Alice: Ok …thank you for your time, sir.
Time: Young lady, you cannot change the past. Though I dare say you might
learn something from it.
-Alice leaves and the Red Queen arrives-
SCENE 8
Red Queen: TIck Tock! Where are you?
Time: Coming, my love.
Red Queen: Present!
Time: Of course... My Darling...
Red Queen: Hmmm
Time: Oh… I present you with a gift made entirely out of love. And also a little
bit of metal and Wood, of course. I know how you love the tiny things.
-MUSIC BOX PLAYING-
Red Queen: I’ll treasure it forever.
Time: Oh, good!
Red Queen: You know what it is that I desire, why don't you give it to me?
Time: But, my love, I have done so much for you already.
Red Queen: Yes, yes, that’s all very well. But don’t you see? That…with my big
brain and you little Chronosphere. I could get even with my sister. And we
could rule the past, the present, and the future.
Time: You ask the impossible, my dear. I cannot give you the Chronosphere.
Red Queen: You would if you loved me. No one loves me. No one fears me.
Time: But I do, I love you.
-While they talk, Alice takes the Chronosphere-
Time: The Grand Clock!
Red Queen: Tick Tock! Don’t abandon me when I’m sulking!. What’s the matter
with you?
Time: The Chronosphere!
Red Queen: Alice…
Time: Stop her!
Red Queen: Stop her, idiot!
SCENE 9
Alice: How does it work?
Time: Stop!... Stop, you little mouse!
-Alice travels in the sea of time.-
Alice: It’s like a ship… Dead ahead …Don’t worry Hatter . I’ll save you and your
family.
-The Time follows Alice-
Time: You! Give me what is mine! Give ti back or there will be none of me left.
Come back!. You cannot win in a race against Time. I am inevitable.
-Alice manages to escape-
SCENE 10
Alice: Hatter? It’s you. You’re you again.
Hatter: Well, if I’m not, I wish I was . Have we met?
Alice: Yes, well, no. I mean, not yet.
Hatter: I feel like I should know you.
Alice: Well, we have met once, when I was younger, That’s because it hasn’t
happened yet.
Hatter: Oh, when will it happen?
Alice: Years from now. When you’re older
Hatter: I’ll meet yoyu when you’re younger and I’m older?
Alice: It doesn’t make much sense.
Hatter: Makes perfect sense to me. I’m Tarrant.
Alice: I know. I’m Alice.
Hatter: Alice, you seem to have time all mixed up.
Alice: Listen, I know it sounds strange, but I need to find your family.
Hatter: Oh, well Alice, you’re in luck. Right this way
SCENE 11
-They arrive to the castle-
Hatter's father: Congratulations, dear Mirana, on your coming of age. And
now… the crown is for the Princess Iracebeth.
Red Queen: Ignorant peasants
-The Hatter starts to laugh-
Red Queen: What are you doing? Idiot!. Don’t look at me that way!
-All laughing-
Red Queen: Silence! The next person who laughs will never laugh again!
Queen Elsemere: Iracebeth, please! However would you stop people from
laughing?
Female: Uh, put a bag on her head
-All laughing again-
Red Queen: Put a bag on your head! Put a bag on all of you heads! Yes! We’ll
sew up your lips…carve your tongues, cut off your ears, off with you! Just off, off,
off with their….
The King: Iracebeth, enough! Iracebeth, I had always hoped that you would
one day show the necessary qualities to become the queen you were born to
be. I realice now that day will never come. People of Witzend…upon my death,
my Crown will pass to the Princess Mirana.
Mirana: Father, no.
Red Queen: What? But that’s not fair! I’m the eldest!
The King: You are unfit to rule, Iracebeth
Red Queen: I hate you. I hate you all! Oh! And I shall note ver forget you, you
sniggering Hightopps! No, I shall wreak a terrible revenge! Vile
Mirana: Racie…
Red Queen: Oh , don’t “Racie” me! You started it. Why don’t you tell them the
truth?
-Mirana ducks her head-
Red Queen: I didn’t think so. No one loves me. No one loves me! I hate you all
Queen Elsemere: Iracebeth!
SCENE 12
-The Hatter stays with his father-
Hatter’s father: If you are to be a hatter worthy of the. Hightopp name you must
be sane, sober, disciplined. Everything you now are not!
Hatter: All I did was laugh, Father. I couldn’t help her. Her head is rather
voluminous.
Hatter’s father: You cost the princess ger Crown! Do you know what this means
to us?
Hatter: Why am I never good enough for you?
Hatter’s father: Why are you always such a disappointment to me?
Hatter: There. You’ve said it, Father. Well, if I’m such a disappointment I don’t
suppose you’ll be sorry if I leave home.
SCENE 13
-The Time arrives-
Hatter: Ughh
Thackery: Oh, no!
Hatter: Ahh!
Thackery: Who is he?
Time: I am Time... The infinite and inmortal... The personification of time itself. I
know you may find this concept a little bit hard to digest but please keep your
bewilderment brief and to the point…
Thackery: Your Majesty, nice to meet you
Time: I seek a thief of meager intellect... Her hair
Thackery: Yes?
Time: Yellowish and her name Alice
Hatter: And what is your bussines with her?
Time: She took something from me. I will not say what it was. It's not important.
It's a trifle. I don't see why you are making such a fuss... It is as nothing... I must
have it back, but not that I'm concerned
Hatter: Well, you are in luck, oh, timely one. Because just today I invited Alice to
tea
Thackery: What's an Alice?
Hatter: Shhh!... Why don't you have a seat and we can wait together.
Thackery: There's no room at the table... No room! No room!
-The Hatter launches a cup towards him-
Thackery: Plenty room!... Tea time! Tea time! Would ya like a scone? Scone!
Time: No...
Hatter: So... If you are really Time, whatever suchness you claim... Perhaps you
can answer me this. I have always wondered when “soon” is.
Time: If you vex me, it will be an eternity.... When is she coming?
Thackery: uhh?
Hatter: Well... I never actually said she was coming old bean... I merely said I
had invited her
-All laughing-
Time: Very good. Very clever. Well played, Sir. Well played.
Hatter: Thank you.
Time: You were asking me before whe “soon” is? Let me try to explain when is
now, all right? Now is... exactly 1 minute till tea time and until the Young Alice
joins you for tea... it will always remain 1 minute till tea time for you and your
dunderheads.
Thackery: Hmm? Watch it.
Time: Enjoy the present.
Thackery: I’ve seen him in his true light now, haven’t I?... Time to go.
Time: I must get the Chronosphere back, she cannot be far away. –Grunts-.
Hatter: What a curious chap.
Time: What a gentleman.
Hatter: Bye bye
-The Time leaves-
Hatter: I can’t believe he just said that, can you?
-Everyone repeats the same thing over and over again-
Thackery: What?
Hatter: Can’t bloody move
Thackery: Wait! What’s he done?
Hatter: The blighter’s stuck us all at 1 minute to tea time.
Thackery: TEA TIME… FOREEEEVEEER!
SCENE 14
-Alice meets the Hatter’s father-
Young Hatter: Look father, a customer with a lovely head…right here. What is
the hat of you heart’s desire, madam?. Something….feathery,
something….button-y.
Hatter’s father: Good afternoon, miss…
Alice: Good afternoon, sir.
Hatter’s father: The function of a hat is to follow the proper dictum of society
hmm, not to be fun.
Young Hatter: Father…I have something fun.
Hatter’s father: What is it?
Young Hatter: It’s a hat.
Hatter’s father: Oh, Tarrant, you’ve got it on backwards.
Young Hatter: Stop, You’ll ruin it.
Hatter’s father: Now, let me finish, oh dear… oh well… tomorrow … I’ll show you
precisely how to make a proper hat. Hmm?
-Young Hatter runs away crying -
Hatter’s father: Hating is a serious business. I can’t have his frivolous ideas keep
him from his true potential. Now. Yes. Yes, I think this hat will suit you…perfectly.
Alice: Thank you ever so much, Mr. Hightopp. Although, I really need to go
now, Have a lovely evening!. –Alice goes out to look for the queen-. Where is
she?
SCENE 15
Young Red Queen: What are you doing?
Young Mirana: Nothing sister…-Young Mirana leaves-.
Young Red Queen: Here you are, little ants, A nice new home. (See the crumbs)
-Enter the queen with Mirana hand in hand-
Queen Elsemere: What did I tell you two? No more tarts.
Young Red Queen: I didn’t eat any tarts.
Queen Elsemere: Why are these crusts under your bed?
Young Red Queen: She put them there.
Queen Elsemere: Did you, Mirana?
Young Red Queen: You did it! Tell her! Why do you stay in silent?
Queen Elsemere: Tell the truth, Mirana. Did you eat the tarts and putt he crusts
there?
Young Mirana: No, mother.
Young Red Queen: But you did it! You’re lying!
Queen Elsemere: The tarts are under your bed. Don’t blame your sister.
Young Red Queen: No, it’s not fair. It’s not fair! -The red queen comes out-.
-The Young Red Queen leaves the room-
SCENE 16
-Alice hears the sound of the clock-
Alice: The stroke of 6... the clock… She’ll hit her head!
-The Young Red Queen hits her head-
Red Queen: My head!!!... Stupid roses.
Extra 1: Oh, the princess…. Oh no! Is your head all right, miss?
Extra 2: Careful. It’s bleeding.
Extra 3: Oh no…
- Queen Elsemere arrives with Young Mirana-
Queen Elsemere: Iracebeth? Iracebeth! Where is she?... Oh, my Darling!
Young Red Queen: Daddy, my head hurts.
The King: Arms around my neck. –He carries her in his arms-.
Queen Elsemere: Mirana! Mirana!
Extra 1: Did you see that?
Extra 2: Yes. That’s a nasty fall. -Murmuring continues. -
Alice: You cannot change the past…
“ Thought I dare say, you might learn something from it.”
-Alice looks out a window and sees the hatter's father keeping the little hat-
“The first hat I ever made. I thought I’s tossed it away long, long ago.”
“It’s impossible for it to be here, and yet... Here it is. So if this hat survived... Then
my family must have too.”
Alice: They’re …alive. They’re alive!
-The Time arrives-
Time: Your foolishness… astouns me. You have no conception of how reckless…
you have been. The dangers that you have caused in me.
-The Time starts to fail-
Wilkins: What are we going to do? Quick! Where’s the manual? Who’s got the
manual?
Time: I need that Chronosphere now. It must go back to the Grand Clock
Alice: I’ll only use it one more time, sorry
Time: You will rescue no one. Wherever you go, I will find you. The Grand Clock
must not stop. You cannot escape Time.
Alice: I’m sorry. But I must save Hatter. -Alice goes through the mirror-
Time: Aliceee! Aliceeee! Come back with my Chronosphere..
SCENE 17
Alice’s mother: Alice? Alice? Alice?
Alice: Where am I?
Alice’s mother: You’re in an institution.
Alice: How long have I been here?
Alice’s mother: Not long. You were found in an upstairs room at the Ascots’.
Hamish had you brought here. You were behaving so strangely. They say you
were trying to get under the furniture. Talking about the atmosphere?
Alice: The Chronosphere! Hatter! I’ve got to go back. There’s nothing wrong
with me
Alice’s mother: It is really necessary for you to be here.
Alice: I can’t be here! I’VE GOT TO BACK!
-Alice runs away-
Alice’s mother: Oh no no! Don’t let her get away! Hurry!
SCENE 18
-Alice sees how the red queen kidnaps the Hatter's father-
Red Queen: Revenge is mine.
Alice: She took them….
SCENE 19
-Alice returns to the present-
Alice: Hatter! Hatter! Your family. They’re alive
-Hatter is about to die surrounded by his friends-
Rabbit: He’s barely ticking.
Mirana: We fear you are too late my dear Alice, everything got out of control.
Mirana: He’s fading away. I can’t bear to see him like this
Rabbit: Say your goodbyes, Alice.
-Everyone leaves the room except Alice-
Alice: Please, wake up, Hatter. Please. Wake up. Please wake up!... I know
what this means now..The hat of paper that you do, your father kept it all those
years, now he needs your help. I’m so sorry, I thought it was impossible. I should
have believed you.
Hatter: You believe me?
Alice: I’ll always believe in you.
Hatter: It’s you, isn’t it? I’d know you anywhere… You’re Alice.
Alice: Hatter… I missed you so much.
Hatter: So have I, dear. But if my father’s still alive…Why has he not come home
Alice: Because he is being held captive by the only person cruel enough to
keep him lock all these years.
Hatter: I’m going to find that Red Queen and bring my father home.
SCENE 20
- The Red Queen is in her Castle and The Time arrives-
Red Queen: Where the devil have you been? Where’s Alice? Where’s my
Chronosphere? Hm?
Time: She jumped into a looking glass. She’s gone.
Red Queen: What you let her get away?
Time: No. I must find her. Where is she?
Red Queen: How should I know where she is?
Time: Because she is your enemy. She muttered...an utterance about…
Hightopps… Hightopps... She said she was going to rescue them. What could
this mean?
Red Queen: I know exactly what that means.
Time: Hmm?
Red Queen: You see, from now, dearest. I’m in charge
SCENE 21
-Alice and her friends enter the Castle-
Alice: This should be the right room
Hatter: They must be this way. I just know it. Father? Anyone?... He’s not here?...
He’s not here.... He’s not here. But I was certain that he was here. I could feel it.
Alice: I’m so sorry
-Finds a secret door-
Hatter: Father!? Father!!... It’s you!
-Red Queen arrives-
Red Queen: Hello, Alice
Hatter: Ahh!
Red Queen: Thank you ever so much. You have just delivered to me the most
powerful device in the entire universe. Along with your dearest friends. And my
dearest enemy.
-Red Queen takes the Chronosphere-
Mirana: Racie!
Red Queen: Shut up!
Alice: Wait! Your Majesty, stop! You cannot change the past. Believe me, I
have tried.
Red Queen: Oh Alice, you always were an irksome, slurvish, interrupting thing.
When I get back, I shall have the heads of all your friends. And then I shall have
your head. Ta-ta. Come on, Mirana.
Time: Don’t let her see herself or else she will destroy everything.
-They leave-
Hatter: I now recall why I don’t like her
Rabbit: What are we going to do? What’s the plan?
Time: It’s up to you now, Alice.
Alice:. I will retrieve the Chronosphere and restore order to the universe. Do you
understand?
Rabbit: Yes, of course, of course, of course. Got it
SCENE 22
-The Red Queen and Mirana reach the past-
Mirana: Where are we?
Red Queen: You know where we are.
-Behind the door-
Queen Elsemere: Why are these crusts under your bed?
Red Queen: She put them there
Queen Elsemere: Did you, Mirana?
Red Queen: Did you, Mirana?
Red Queen: You did, tell her!
Queen Elsemere: Tell the truth, Mirana. Did you eat the tarts and put the crusts
there?
Mirana: No
Mirana: No, Racie, no!
Red Queen: You’re a liar! Liar! You’re lying!
SCENE 23
Hatter: This cannot be good
-Alice arrives and takes the Chronosphere-
Alice: We’ve got to go now!
-Time breathing heavily-
Time: She has broken the past.
Smiling: Only putting back the Chronosphere can save us now!
-Alice, Red Queen and Mirana arrive-
Rabbit: Follow me. This way –saves Wilkins- I’ve got you, wee man.
Wilkins: Tick-Tock Tick.Tock. Gotta save the Grand Clock.
Mirana: I won’t leave you, Racie.
Wilkins: Sir, sir! Hold on, sir! She’s here! The girl who tricked you and made you
look a complete idiot!
Rabbit: I have cherished every moment with all of you
Smiling: Time’s up
Wilkings: She’s not going to make it! She needs more time, sir!
Time: I have not ticked my last tock yet!... It appears that my invincible
machine…
Wilkings: Nooo!
Time: Is in fact...Vincible.
-Alice puts the Chronosphere in place-
Time: Did I miss anything?
Alice: Are you all right?
Time: Oh! There is much to do, hmm? Wilkins!
Smiling: They did it! They did it!
-Mirana tries to hug Red Queen-
Red Queen: Get off me! Ugh… Why does this always happen to me? Why does
no one love me?
Mirana: I love you, Racie.
Red Queen: No, you don’t! This is all your fault.
Mirana: I know. I ate the tarts and I lied about it. I shouls have just told the truth,
and none of this would have ever happened. I’m so sorry. If it’s not too late…
Please, forgive me, I really love you.
Red Queen: That’s all I ever wanted to hear. Really it was. –They hug. -
Hatter: Your Majesty… I do beg pardon for any intrusion. Can you free my father
now?
Mirana: Of course!
-Mirana releases him-
Hatter: Thank you…Oh my father! My dear father! –They hug. - You, father, you
kept my blue hat. I make hats, Father, I’m a hatter.
Hatter’s father: I always knew you were, my boy.
SCENE 24
Time: All is well. Yes?
Alice: I know you tried to warn me. But I didn’t listen. I’m sorry. I used to think
Time was thief… Stealing everything I loved. But I see now that you give before
you take and every day is a gift. Every hour, every minute, every second.
Time: Hmm? It is said that Time is a friend to no man, but I will remember you
always and please… Do not come back
SCENE 25
Hatter: Alice. Oh, Alice. You simply must come and meet my father. After all,
you are the very person who saved him, aren’t you? We’re going to have so
much fun together… Ohh. But, of course you have a family of your own, don’t
you? Very important thing a family. You only get the one.
Alice: Oh, Hatter. I fear I may never see you again.
Hatter: My dear Alice. In the gardens of memory… In the palace of dreams…
That is where you and I will meet.
Alice: But a dream is not the reality
Hatter: Who’s to say which is which?
Smiling: You did it, Alice. An impossible thing
Alice: Not as impossible as saying goodbye to you, my friends. Goodbye, Hatter
-Alice goes through the mirror-
Hatter: Goodbye, Alice
SCENE 26
Hamish: Now, please. The deed to your husband’s ship. Just sign here… And the
house is yours…Time is money.
Alice: I’m afraid he most certainly is not.
Alice’s mother: Alice…
Alice: Time is many things, Hamish, but he isn’t money. Not is he our enemy, sign
the papers, Mother.
Alice’s mother: You want me to sign them?
-Alice gives her mother a pen-
Alice: But what about the Wonder? It’s just a ship. But you are my mother, and I
only have one
Hamish: Sou you’ve decided to be a clerk? I knew that you would. Headstrong
or not.
Alice’s mother: You’re not a nice man, Hamish. I’m glad my daughter didn’t
marry you.
-Alice’s mother takes the contract-
Hamish: Mrs. Kingsleigh…
-Alice’s mother breaks the contract-
Hamish: No, you can’t! You can’t! You can’t!
Alice’s mother: Alice can do whatever Alice chooses, and so can I. Good day
-Helen and Alice leave the room-
It’s not impossible…merely…. Un-possible
