9. Some common sense which people should have

9.1 DO NOT Disregard safety tips or science. DO NOT Disrespect Government regulations. Seek help when in danger or
dire need.

9.2 When outside: If you feel an ITCH on your face or nose or eyes or belly (or anywhere in the body): first disinfect
your hand/gloves with disinfectant alcohol and then you can take care of the itch. Then disinfect your hand/gloves
with disinfectant alcohol again (basic hygiene).

9.3 Don’t get into a fight with the authorities – if you have a genuine issue, explain it to them politely. Last thing you
want is to spend your ‘quarantine time’ in a prison or getting spanked by the police.

9.4 Don’t go for walks or jogging in the community park – this is not the time. Don’t be stupid. Walk inside the house or
kitchen garden or do skipping or yoga or aerobics or Pilates. If you son’t know how to do it; Watch a video and
learn.

9.5 Keep your house well ventilated. If the oxygen content in your house goes low – you will develop headaches very
soon. Keep yourself hydrated – low water intake also can cause symptoms like headaches.

9.6 When people develop symtoms, they are often scared to go to the hospital and think they can cure themselves.
Here is a question from me: How will you cure yourself from COVID -19, if you develop Pneumonia and your lungs
start to collapse or start filling with water? Don’t take the risk – just call your doctor and/or seek emergency help
IMMEDIATELY - if you develop symptoms of breathing problem. There is a better chance of survival if your
‘breathing problems/issues’ are handled by medical experts.

9.7 DONOT drink disinfectants – it’s toxic and will prove fatal. Keep away disinfectants from Children – it’s not
something to play with. If any accidents happen – contact Emergency services immediately.

9.8 Antibiotics will not help prevent COVID-19. Antibiotics are meant for fighting against bacterial infections. Only
Antiviral drugs can help and that too there are specific ones. DO NOT take antiviral drugs without prescription and
consultation of a doctor.

9.9 Drinking alcohol (like Wine, Whiskey, Beer or Rum) doesn’t stop the virus infection. If someone is propagating that
drinking hard drinks can help fight virus – that person is plain STUPID. Moreover over drinking or an oversdose of
hard drink (0.3 to 0.4 alcohol in blood) can prove fatal.

9.10 Mental health : Staying at home for a long period of time can be really stressful because your mind is not used to
such lockdowns. Develop some hobby or interest to keep your mind occupied. Hobbies like reading books; doing
research in a topic you always wanted to dig in; painting; sketching; writinga diary or stories; watching movies;
indoor games; leaning to cook; indoor fitness programs; trying listening to new music styles; socializing over the
internet/phone.

Fix a strict schedule similar to your normal working days – otherwise you might end up with sleeping
disorders and over eating. I faced it first hand and developed sleeping disorder and then finally recovered as I
developed keen research interest in Virology, Immunology and Medical Science. Having a pet also usually helps as a
stress relief - I had/have a pet cat and two turtles to play around with. Stay safe.
