Research Design:: D. Proposed Methodology

The proposed methodology will use a quantitative research approach involving surveys to examine the contribution of management accounting to human resource management. The target population will be management accountants and HR personnel in Baguio City. Slovin's formula will be used to determine a sample size from this population with 95% confidence level. Data will be collected through structured questionnaires containing open and closed questions. Both quantitative and qualitative methods will be used to analyze the data, with descriptive statistics generated to summarize results.

Proposed Methodology

Research Design:

According to (Orodho, 2003) research design is a programme that guides the researcher in
collecting, analyzing and interpreting observed facts. This study examines the contribution and role of
management accounting in relation to the Human Resource Management (HRM). The researchers will be
using a quantitative research approach because it involves utilizing strategies that will take into
consideration the estimation of factors inside the gathering of individuals and bringing about numerical
information exposed to factual investigation. It is the investigation of specific questions by methods for
numeric portrayals and factual examination. The fundamental objective of this exploration is to gauge,
characterize and make a write about the connection of specific components (Rosenberg, 2003).

In addition, the researchers will be employing convenience research design in determining the
target population. Under this, the researchers will use a survey questionnaire to gather the data they desire
to have.

Population and locale of the study.

Population is a set of people, services, elements, events, and groups of households that are being
investigated (Ngechu, 2004). As for the respondents of this study, it will be those management
accountants and human resource managers/personnels that are currently working in Baguio City. Since it
is not possible to study the entire population, the researchers will be employing a smaller sample taken
using a descriptive research design. Whereas, a descriptive type of research involves the collection of data
to answer the questions concerning the current status of the subjects in the study (Best, 1993). It is
designed to gather information or conditions existing at a particular period of time.

Sample size determination is the mathematical estimation of the number of subjects/units to be

used and included in a study. In determining the sample size of the study, Slovin's formula will be used
by the researchers. Due to the fact that Slovin’s formula allows researchers to sample the population with
a desired degree of accuracy (Stephanie, 2013). Thus, Slovin’s formula was used to calculate the sample
size. With regard to the level of accuracy, a confidence level of 95% as suggested by Kothari (2005), this
means that there are 95 chances in 100 (or .95 in 1) that the sample results represent the true condition of
the population within a specified precision range against 5 chances in 100 (or .05 in 1) that it does not.

Data Gathering Tool

The information and data will be gathered through a structured survey questionnaire, which will
be administered for the respondents. This will result in comprehensive and systematic gathering of
information. The questions for the structured survey questionnaire will be composed of both open and
close ended questions. According to Mugenda (2003) open and close ended questions give the
respondents the freedom to respond in his or her own words.
Data Gathering Procedures

A research permission from the course instructor will be sought before the collection of data. The
researchers will collect the primary data through administering a structured survey questionnaire for the
respondents. While the secondary data will be collected through reviewing previous related studies.

Data Analysis:

Analysis is the process of simplification and interpretation of data. The structured survey
questionnaire will be screened for completeness and then coded and formatted. The data will be analyzed
by the use of both quantitative and qualitative methods of data analysis. The quantitative measures will be
used to generate descriptive statistics to analyze for frequencies, means and percentages. The qualitative
measures will be used to analyze and summarize key findings, explanations, interpretations and making
conclusions. The results will be reported using descriptive statistics such as frequency tables, pie charts
and graphs.
