 Merits of Sūra ad-Dukhān

This is a „Meccan‟ sūrah.

The surah that mentions a divine portent of an evil destiny
that will come in the appearance of something unknown
called the SMOKE. It manifests in the sky and enveils the
unbelievers on the earth, until they cry in vain to God that
they shall believe in the Quran and its Messenger of only He
delivers them from this torment. It takes its name from the
“smoke” (dukhān) mentioned in verse 10. The surah
highlights the mercy that is the Quran, addresses the
obduracy of the powerful and wealthy oppressors, and draws
comparisons between the people of Pharaoh, Tubbaʾ, and the
Meccans. The people of Paradise will enjoy heavenly bliss
while those who were mighty in this world will suffer the
torments of Hell. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.)
that if this surah is recited at night, then seventy thousand
angels pray to Allah (s.w.t.) to forgive the sins of the reciter. If
recited on Thursday nights, all sins are forgiven and houses
are built for the reciter in Jannah.
 Merits of Sūra ad-Dukhān

The reward for reciting each letter of this surah is equal to

that of freeing a thousand slaves for seeking the pleasure of
Allah (s.w.t.).
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s.) said that whoever recites
surah ad-Dukhan in his faraa’idh (compulsory prayers) will be
protected from the torment of the Day of Judgement and will
easily be able to give his accounts. His book of deeds will
also be given to him in his right hand.
If kept in one‟s possession, this surah acts as a protection
from the plots of Shaitan. If kept under one‟s pillow before
sleeping at night, there will be no suffering from nightmares
and one will always get good dreams. Keeping this surah in a
place of business makes the trade prosper.
Imam Ja‟far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that keeping this
surah as a talisman ensures protection from the authorities
and makes people fond of the wearer. Drinking water in which
this surah has been dissolved is a cure for all ailments related
to the stomach.
 Merits of Sūra ad-Dukhān
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) is quoted saying that whoever
recites this Sura on a Friday night will be forgiven and will
receive for each of its verses the rewards of one who sets a
hundred thousand slaves free, and seventy thousand angels
will seek forgiveness for him; and Allah will build a mansion
for whoever recites it on Fridays. Imam Ja‟far as-Sadiq (pbuh)
has said that one who recites it during his obligatory and
optional prayers will be resurrected among those who will be
secure and Allah will shade him with the shade of His Arsh
and will try him an easy trial and give him his book (of
reckoning) in his right hand.
The Sura derives its name from Ayat #10 which warns of a
clearly visible smoke descending on the unbelievers. Some
commentators believe it refers to the smoke which will
envelop the world before
the day of Judgment,
 Merits of Sūra ad-Dukhān
and which will be especially painful for the unbelievers. There
is great reward for reciting this Sura in obligatory and
recommended prayers. At the beginning of this Sura, an
indirect reference is made to the night of Qadr. This was the
first time Muslims were told about Laylatul Qadr. The only
other mention of Laylatul Qadr in the Qur‟an is in Sura al-
Qadr, which has a direct reference to the holy night. Thus
both Sura‟s are recommended for recitation on the night of
Qadr.
The first six (6) Ayats discuss the holy night, and its
blessings. The Sura also ends with a mention of the Qur‟an as
a reminder for the people.

‎‫اللٌم ص ِو غلَ محم ٍد و ا ِل محمد‬
O' Allāh send Your blessings on Muhammad
and the family of Muhammad.

‫اے اهلل !رحمت فسام دمحم وا ل)ع (دمحم رپ‬

ऐ अल्राह भुहम्भद औय आरे भुहम्भद ऩय अऩनी सराभती यख़

In the Name of Allāh,
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

‫میظع اور دایمئ روتمحں واےل خدا ےک نام ےس‬

By the Manifest Book!

‫رونش اتکب یک مسق‬

गवाह है स्ऩष्ट ककताफ

‎ ﴾٣﴿ ‫ِإها اهزلواى ِفُ لّل ٍة مباره ٍة ۚ ِإها هوا م ِوذ ِرِن‬
Indeed We sent it down on a blessed night, and indeed
We have been warning [mankind].

‫مہ ےن اس قسا ں وک انک ابمرک راب ںیم نارل ایک ےہ مہ کشیب ذعاب ےس دراےن واےل ےھت‬

ननस्सॊदेह हभने उसे एक फयकत बयी यात भें अवतरयत ककमा है । - ननश्चम ही हभ सावधान
कयनेवारे है ।-

ˈinnā ˈanzalnāhu fī laylatin mubārakatin ˈinnā kunnā munḏirīna

‎ ﴾٤﴿ ‫ِفٌّا ِفرق هو ام ٍر ح ِن ٍّم‬ُ َ
Every definitive matter is resolved in it,

‫اس راب ںیم امتم تمکح و تحلصم ےک اومر اک ہلصیف ایک اجنا ےہ‬

उस (यात) भें तभाभ तत्वदर्शिता मुक्त भाभरों का फैसरा ककमा जाता है ,

fīhā yufraqu kullu ˈamrin ḥakīmin

‎﴾٥﴿ ‫امرا ِمن ِغ ِودها ۚ ِإها هوا مر ِس ِلّن‬ْ َ

as an ordinance from Us. Indeed We have been

sending [apostles],

‫ہی امہری رطف اک مکح وہنا ےہ اور مہ یہ روسولں ےک ےنجیھب واےل ںیہ‬

हभाये महाॉ से आदे श के रूऩ भें । ननस्सॊदेह यसूरों को बेजनेवारे हभ ही है । -

ˈamran min ʿindinā ˈinnā kunnā mursilīna

‎﴾٦﴿ ‫رحمة ِمن ر ِبم ۚ ِإهي ًٍ الس ِمّع الػ ِلّم‬
as a mercy from your Lord—indeed He is the All-
hearing, the All-knowing—

‫ہی ا ب ےک رپورداگر یک رحمت ےہ اور یقینا وہ تہب سینے واال اور اجےنن واال ےہ‬

तुम्हाये यफ की दमारुता के कायण। ननस्सॊदेह वही सफ कुछ सुननेवारा, जाननेवारा है

raḥmatan min rabbika ˈinnahū huwa s-samīʿu l-ʿalīmu

‫ض وما بّوٌما ۖ ِإن هوجم‬ ِ ‫ر ِب السماو‬
ِ َ ‫ات ُّ واْلر‬
‎﴾٧﴿ ‫م ٍِل ِوّن‬
the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is
between them, should you have conviction.

‫وہ ا امسں و رنیم اور اس ےک امنیب اک رپورداگر ےہ ارگ مت نیقی رکےن واےل وہ‬

आकाशों औय धयती का यफ औय जो कुछ उन दोनों के फीच है उसका बी, मदद तुभ ववश्वास
यखनेवारे हो (तो ववश्वास कयो कक ककताफ का अवतयण अल्राह की दमारत
ु ा है )

rabbi s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-mā baynahumā ˈin kuntum mūqinīna

ُ‫َْل ِإ َل َٰ َي ِإْل ًٍ ِح ِّ ُ َوِ ِمّت ۖ َربن ْم َور ُّب ابا ِئنم‬

َ َّ َ ْ
‎﴾٨﴿ ‫اْلو ِلّن‬
There is no god except Him: He gives life and brings
death, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.

‫ ویہ‬- ‫ ویہ ایحب اطع رکےن واال ےہ اور ویہ ومب دےنی واال ےہ‬. ‫اس ےک عالوہ وکیئ خدا ںیہن ےہ‬
‫اہمترا یھب رپورداگر ےہ اور اہمترے زگہتش بزروگں اک یھب رپورداگر ےہ‬
उसके अनतरयक्त कोई ऩूज्म-प्रबु नहीॊ; वही जीववत कयता औय भायता है ; तुम्हाया यफ औय
तम्ु हाये अगरे फाऩ-दादों का यफ है

lā ˈilāha ˈillā huwa yuḥyī wa-yumītu rabbukum wa-rabbu ˈābāˈikumu l-

ˈawwalīna

‎ ﴾٩﴿ ‫بو ًم ِفُ ض ٍم ِلػبٍن‬
Rather they play around in doubt.

‫نکیل ہی ولگ کش ےک اعمل ںیم لیھک امتہش رکرےہ ںیہ‬

फल्ल्क वे सॊदेह भें ऩडे यहे हैं

bal hum fī šakkin yalʿabūna

‎﴾١٠﴿ ‫ّن‬ ُّ َ ُ ُ َ َّ ِ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ
ٍ ‫فارث ِكب ٍِم ثا ِثُ السماء ِبدخ ٍان م ِب‬
So watch out for the day when the sky brings on a
manifest smoke,

‫لہٰدا ا ب اس دں اک ااظتنر ےئجیک جت ا امسں واحضمسق اک دوھاں ےل رک ا اجےئ اگ‬

अच्छा तो तुभ उस ददन की प्रतीऺा कयो, जफ आकाश प्रत्मऺ धुॉआ राएगा।

fa-rtaqib yawma taˈtī s-samāˈu bi-duḫānin mubīnin

ٌ َ ٌ َ َ َ َٰ َ َ َّ َ ْ
‎﴾١١﴿ ‫ِغصَ الواس ۖ ً ذا غذاب ا ِلّم‬ َ

enveloping the people.[They will cry out:] „This is a

painful punishment.

‫وج امتم ولوگں وک داھنک ےل اگ ہک یہی دردناک ذعاب ےہ‬

वह रोगों का ढाॉक रेगा। मह है दख

ु द मातना!

yaġšā n-nāsa hāḏā ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ُ ْ ُ َّ َ َ َ ْ َّ َ ْ ْ َ َّ َّ
‎ ﴾١٢﴿ ‫ربوا اه ِصف غوا الػذاب ِإها مؤ ِموٍن‬
Our Lord! Remove from us this punishment. Indeed we
have believed!‟

‫بب ست ںیہک ےگ ہک رپورداگر اس ذعاب وک مہ ےس دور رکدے مہ اامیں ےل ا ےن واےل ںیہ‬

वे कहें गे, "ऐ हभाये यफ! हभऩय से मातना हटा दे । हभ ईभान राते है ।"

rabbanā kšif ʿannā l-ʿaḏāba ˈinnā muˈminūna

ٌ ُّ ٌ ُ َ ْ ُ َ َ ْ َ َ َٰ َ ْ ّ ُ ُ َ َّ َ
‎﴾١٣﴿ ‫اه ََٰ لٌم ِالذهرى ولد جاءًم رسٍل م ِبّن‬
What will the admonition avail them, when a manifest
apostle had already come to them,

‫ب‬
‫ھال اں یک تمسق ںیم تحیصن اہکں جت ہک اں ےک ناس واحض اغیپم واال روسل یھب ا اکچ ےہ‬

अफ उनके होश भें आने का भौका कहाॉ फाकी यहा। उनका हार तो मह है कक उनके ऩास साफ-
साफ फतानेवारा एक यसर ू आ चकु ा है ।

ˈannā lahumu ḏ-ḏikrā wa-qad ǧāˈahum rasūlun mubīnun

ٌ ُ ْ َّ ٌ َّ َ ُ ُ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ َّ َ َ َّ ُ
‎﴾١٤﴿ ‫ثم ثٍلٍا غوي ولالٍا مػلم مجوٍن‬
but they turned away from him, and said, „A tutored
madman?‟

‫اور ابہوں ےن اس ےس منہ ریھپایل اوراہک ہک ہی اھکسنا ڑپاھنا وہا دویاہن ےہ‬

कपय उन्होंने उसकी ओय से भॉह

ु भोड र्रमा औय कहने रगे, "मह तो एक र्सखामा-ऩढामा
दीवाना है ।"

ṯumma tawallaw ʿanhu wa-qālū muʿallamun maǧnūnun

َ ُ َ ْ ُ َّ ً َ َ َ ْ ُ َ َّ
‎﴾١٥﴿ ‫اب ل ِلًّل ۚ ِإهنم غا ِئدون‬
ِ ‫ِإها ه ِاضفٍ الػذ‬
Indeed We will withdraw the punishment a little; but
you will indeed revert [to your earlier ways].

‫ریخ مہ وھتری دری ےک ےئل ذعاب وک اٹہےتیل ںیہ نکیل مت رھپ ویہ رکےن واےل وہ وج رکرےہ وہ‬

"हभ मातना थोडा हटा दे ते है तो तुभ ऩुन् कपय जाते हो।

ˈinnā kāšifū l-ʿaḏābi qalīlan ˈinnakum ʿāˈidūna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ُ َ ُ َّ َٰ َ ْ ُ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ ُ ْ َ َ ْ َ
‎﴾١٦﴿ ‫ٍِم هب ِطش البطصة النبرى ِإها موج ِكمٍن‬
The day We shall strike with the most terrible striking,
We will indeed take vengeance [on them].

‫انک دں ا ےئ اگ جت مہ تخس مسق یک رگتف رکںی ےگ ہک مہ یقینا دبہل ےنیل واےل یھب ںیہ‬

माद यखो, ल्जस ददन हभ फडी ऩकड ऩकडेंगे, तो ननश्चम ही हभ फदरा रेकय यहें गे

yawma nabṭišu l-baṭšata l-kubrā ˈinnā muntaqimūna

ٌ‫َو َل َك ْد َف َج َّوا َل ْب َل ٌُ ْم َل ٍْ َم ِف ْر َغ ٍْ َن َو َج َاء ًُ ْم َر ُس ٌٍل َهرِم‬

‎﴾١٧﴿
Certainly We tried the people of Pharaoh before them,
when a noble apostle came to them,

‫اور مہ ےن اں ےس ےلہپ فسوعں یک وقم وک ا رامنا جت اں ےک ناس انک رتحمم ربمغیپ ا نا‬

उनसे ऩहरे हभ कफयऔन की कौभ के रोगों को ऩयीऺा भें डार चुके हैं, जफकक उनके ऩास एक
अत्मन्त सज्जन यसर ू आमा

wa-la-qad fatannā qablahum qawma firʿawna wa-ǧāˈahum rasūlun karīmun

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ٌ‫َا ْن َا ُّدوا إ َل َُّ ِغ َب َاد َّالل ِي ۖ إ ِّهُ َل ُن ْم َر ُس ٌٍل َا ِمّن‬

‎﴾١٨﴿
[saying,] „Give over the servants of Allah to me; indeed
I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you.

‫ہک اهلل ےک دنبوں وک ریمے وحاےل رکدو ںیم اہمترے ےئل انک اامبب دار ربمغیپ وہں‬

कक "तुभ अल्राह के फन्दों को भेये हवारे कय दो। ननश्चम ही भै तुम्हाये र्रए एक ववश्वसनीम

‫ّن‬‫ب‬
ٍ ٍِ ‫م‬ ‫ان‬ ‫ط‬ ‫ل‬ ‫س‬ ‫ب‬ِ ‫م‬‫ّن‬‫ث‬ِ ‫ا‬ ُ ‫ه‬ِ ‫إ‬ِ ۖ ‫ي‬ِ ‫الل‬ َ ‫ل‬‫غ‬ ‫ٍا‬‫ل‬‫ػ‬ ‫ث‬ ‫وان ْل‬
‎﴾١٩﴿
Do not defy Allah. Indeed I bring you a manifest
authority.

‫اورخدا ےک ساےنم اوےچن ہن ونب ںیم اہمترے ناس تہب واحضدلیل ےل رک ا نا وہں‬

औय अल्राह के भुकाफरे भें सयकशी न कयो, भैं तुम्हाये र्रए एक स्ऩष्ट प्रभाण रेकय आमा हूॉ

wa-ˈan lā taʿlū ʿalā llāhi ˈinnī ˈātīkum bi-sulṭānin mubīnin

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ُ ُ ْ َ َ ْ ُ ّ َ َ ّ َ ُ ْ ُ ّ َ
ِ ‫و ِإ ِهُ غذت ِبر ِبُ ور ِبنم ان ثرجم‬
‎﴾٢٠﴿ ‫ٍن‬
I seek the protection of my Lord and your Lord, lest
you should stone me.

‫اورںیم اےنپ اور اہمترے رب یک انپہ اچاتہ وہں ہک مت ےھجم اسگنسر رکدو‬

औय भैं इससे अऩने यफ औय तुम्हाये यफ की शयण रे चुका हूॉ कक तुभ भुझ ऩय ऩथयाव कयके
भाय डारो

wa-ˈinnī ʿuḏtu bi-rabbī wa-rabbikum ˈan tarǧumūni

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ُ َْ َ ُ ْ ُ ْ َّ َ
‎﴾٢١﴿ ‫ٍن‬
ِ ‫و ِإن لم ثؤ ِموٍا ِلُ فاغج ِزل‬
And if you do not believe me, keep out of my way.‟

‫اور ارگ مت اامیں ںیہن الےت وہ وت ھجم ےس اگل وہاجو‬

ककन्तु मदद तुभ भेयी फात नहीॊ भानते तो भुझसे अरग हो जाओ!"

wa-ˈin lam tuˈminū lī fa-ʿtazilūni

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ُ ْ ُّ ٌ ْ َ َ ُ َ َّ َ ُ َّ َ َ َ َ
‎﴾٢٢﴿ ‫فدغا ربي ان ً َٰؤْل ِء لٍم مج ِرمٍن‬
Then he invoked his Lord, [saying,]„These are indeed a
guilty lot.‟

‫رھپ ابہوں ےن اےنپ رب ےس َراع یک ہک ہی وقم بزی رجمم وقم ےہ‬

अन्तत् उसने अऩने यफ को ऩुकाया कक "मे अऩयाधी रोग है ।"

fa-daʿā rabbahū ˈanna hāˈulāˈi qawmun muǧrimūna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ُ َ َّ ُّ ُ َّ ً ْ َ َ ْ ََ
‎﴾٢٣﴿ ‫فاس ِر ِب ِػب ِادي لًّل ِإهنم مجبػٍن‬
[Allah told him,] „Set out with My servants by night; for
you will indeed be pursued.

‫وت مہ ےن اہک ہک امہرے دنبوں وک ےل رک راوتں راب ےلچ اجو ہک اہمترا اھچیپ ایک اجےن واال ےہ‬

"अच्छा तुभ यातों यात भेये फन्दों को रेकय चरे जाओ। ननश्चम ही तुम्हाया ऩीछा ककमा जाएगा

fa-ˈasri bi-ʿibādī laylan ˈinnakum muttabaʿūna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ُ َ ْ ُّ ٌ ُ ْ ُ َّ ً ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ ُ ْ َ
‎﴾٢٤﴿ ‫واثر ِك البحر رًٍا ۖ ِإهٌم جود مغرلٍن‬
And leave the sea calmly; they will indeed be a
drowned host.‟

‫اوردرنا وک اےنپ احل رپ سانک وھچر رک لکن اجو ہک ہی رکشل رغق ایک اجےن واال ےہ‬

औय सागय को ल्स्थय छोड दो। वे तो एक सेना दर हैं, डूफ जानेवारे।"

wa-truki l-baḥra rahwan ˈinnahum ǧundun muġraqūna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

‎﴾٢٥﴿ ‫ٍن‬ ُ ُ َ َّ َ ُ َ َ ْ َ
ٍ ّ‫ات وغ‬ ٍ ‫هم ثرهٍا ِمن جو‬
How many gardens and springs did they leave behind!

‫ہی ولگ ےنتک یہ نااغب اورےمشچ وھچر ےئگ‬

वे छोड गमे ककतनॆ ही फाग़ औय स्रोत

kam tarakū min ǧannātin wa-ʿuyūnin

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ َ َ َ ُ
‎ ﴾٢٦﴿ ‫وزرو ٍع ومك ٍام ه ِر ٍِم‬ُ َ
Fields and splendid places,

‫اور ینتک یہ ایتیھکں اور دمعہ اکمناب وھچر ےئگ‬

औय ख़ेनतमाॊ औय उत्तभ आवास-

wa-zurūʿin wa-maqāmin karīmin

‫‪Sūra ad-Dukhān‬‬ ‫سورة الدخان‬

‫َ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫ُ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫ْ‬

‫وهػم ٍة هاهٍا ِفٌّا فا ِه ٌِّن ﴿‪‎﴾٢٧‬‬‫َ‬ ‫َ‬
‫!‪and the bounties wherein they rejoiced‬‬

‫اور وہ ںیتمعن نج ںیم مسے اُرا رےہ ےھتیہی ااجنم وہنا ےہ اور مہ ےن ست اک وارب دورسی وقم وک‬
‫انبدنا‬

‫‪औय सुख साभग्री ल्जनभें वे भज़े कय यहे थे।‬‬

‫‪wa-naʿmatin kānū fīhā fākihīna‬‬

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ َ ٓ ً ْ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ َٰ َ َ
‎ ﴾٢٨﴿ ‫هذ ِلم ۖ واورثواًا لٍما اخ ِرِن‬
So it was; and We bequeathed them to another people.

‫اور وہ ںیتمعن نج ںیم مسے اُرا رےہ ےھتیہی ااجنم وہنا ےہ اور مہ ےن ست اک وارب دورسی وقم وک‬
‫انبدنا‬

हभ ऐसा ही भाभरा कयते है , औय उन चीज़ों का वारयस हभने दस

ू ये रोगों को फनामा

ka-ḏālika wa-ˈawraṯnāhā qawman ˈāḫarīna

‎﴾٢٩﴿
So neither the sky wept for them, nor the earth; nor
were they granted any respite.

‫رھپ وت اں رپ ہن ا امسں رونا اور ہن رنیم اور ہن اںیہن تلہم یہ دی یئگ‬

कपय न तो आकाश औय धयती ने उनऩय ववराऩ ककमा औय न उन्हें भुहरत ही र्भरी

fa-mā bakat ʿalayhimu s-samāˈu wa-l-ˈarḍu wa-mā kānū munẓarīna

ِ ‫ولكد هجّوا ب ِوُ ِإسرا ِئّو ِمن الػذ‬
ِ ٌِ ‫اب الم‬

‎﴾٣٠﴿
Certainly We delivered the Children of Israel from a
humiliating torment,

‫اور مہ ےن ینب ارسالیئ وک روسا نک ذعاب ےس اچبایل‬

इस प्रकाय हभने इसयाईर की सन्तान को अऩभानजनक मातना से

wa-la-qad naǧǧaynā banī ˈisrāˈīla mina l-ʿaḏābi l-muhīni

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ْ ُ ْ َ ّ ً َ َ َ ُ َّ َ ْ َ ْ
‎﴾٣١﴿ ‫ِمن ِفرغٍن ۚ ِإهي هان غا ِلّا ِمن المس ِر ِفّن‬
from Pharaoh. Indeed he was a tyrant among the
profligates.

‫فسوعں ےک رش ےس وج رنادیت رکےن واولں ںیم یھب ست ےس اواچن اھت‬

अथाित कफयऔन से छुटकाया ददमा। ननश्चम ही वह भमािदाहीन रोगों भें से फडा ही सयकश था

min firʿawna ˈinnahū kāna ʿāliyan mina l-musrifīna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ َٰ َ َ ْ ُ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ
‎﴾٣٢﴿ ‫ولك ِد اخجرهاًم غلَ ِغل ٍم غلَ الػال ِمّن‬
Certainly We chose them knowingly above all the
nations.

‫اور مہ ےن ینب ارسالیئ وک امتم اعنیمل ںیم ھجمس وبھج رک ااختنب ایک ےہ‬

औय हभने (उनकी ल्स्थनत को) जानते हुए उन्हें साये सॊसायवारों के भुकाफरे भॊ चुन र्रमा

wa-la-qadi ḫtarnāhum ʿalā ʿilmin ʿalā l-ʿālamīna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ٌ ُّ ٌ َ َ َ َ ٓ ْ َ ّ ُ َ ْ َ َٓ
‎ ﴾٣٣﴿ ‫ات ما ِف ِّي بًلء م ِبّن‬
ِ ِ‫واثّواًم ِمن اْل‬
And We gave them some signs in which there was a
manifest test.

‫ک‬
‫اور اںیہن ایسی یشااینں دی ںیہ نج ںیم ھال وہا ااحتمں نانا اجنا ےہ‬

औय हभने उन्हें ननशाननमों के द्वाया वह चीज़ दी ल्जसभें स्ऩष्ट ऩयीऺा थी

wa-ˈātaynāhum mina l-ˈāyāti mā fīhi balāˈun mubīnun

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ُ ُ َ َ َ ُ َٰ َ َّ
‎﴾٣٤﴿ ‫ِإن ً ؤْل ِء لّكٍلٍن‬
Indeed these ones say,

‫کشیب ہی ولگ یہی ےتہک ںیہ‬

मे रोग फडी दृढताऩूवक

ि कहते है ,

ˈinna hāˈulāˈi la-yaqūlūna

َ ‫إ ْن ًِ َُ إ َّْل َم ٍْ َث ُج َوا ْ ُاْل َول ََٰ َو َما َه ْح ُن ب ُم‬

َ‫وصرِن‬
ِ ِ ِ ِ
‎﴾٣٥﴿
„It will be just our first death, and we shall not be
resurrected.

‫ب‬
‫ہک ہی رصف ہلی ومب ےہ اور سب اس ےک دعب مہ ااھٹےئ اجےن واےل ںیہن ںیہ‬

"फस मह हभायी ऩहरी भत्ृ मु ही है , हभ दोफाया उठाए जानेवारे नहीॊ हैं

ˈin hiya ˈillā mawtatunā l-ˈūlā wa-mā naḥnu bi-munšarīna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ َ ْ ُ ُ َ َ ٓ ُ ِ َ
‎﴾٣٦﴿ ‫فاثٍا ِبابا ِئوا ِإن هوجم ص ِاد ِلّن‬
Bring our fathers back [to life],should you be truthful.‟

‫اور ارگ مت ےچس وہ وت امہرے ناب دادا وک ربقوں ےس ااھٹ رک ےل ا و‬

तो रे आओ हभाये फाऩ-दादा को, मदद तुभ सच्चे हो!"

fa-ˈtū bi-ˈābāˈinā ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ْۚ ‫َا ًُ ْم َخ ّْ ٌر َا ْم َل ٍْ ُم ُث َّبع َو َّال ِذ َِن ِمن َل ْب ِل ٌِم‬

َ ْ ُ ٍ ُ َ ْ ُ َّ ْ ُ َ ْ َ ْ َ
‎﴾٣٧﴿ ‫اًلنواًم ۖ ِإهٌم هاهٍا مج ِر ِمّن‬
Are they better, or the people of Tubbaʿ, and those
who were before them? We destroyed them; indeed
they were guilty.

‫ف‬ ‫ن‬ّ ‫ب‬ ‫ھ‬ ‫ب‬

‫ال ہی ولگ رنادہ رتہب ںیہ نا وقم ع اوراں ےس ےلہپ واےل ا ساد ںیہنج مہ ےن اس ےئل ابتہ رکدنا‬
‫ہک ہی ست رجمم ےھت‬
क्मा वे अच्छे है मा तुब्फा की कौभ मा वे रोग जो उनसे ऩहरे गुज़य चुके है ? हभने उन्हें
ववनष्ट कय ददमा, ननश्चम ही वे अऩयाधी थे

ˈa-hum ḫayrun ˈam qawmu tubbaʿin wa-llaḏīna min qablihim ˈahlaknāhum

ˈinnahum kānū muǧrimīna

َ‫ض َو َما َب ّْ َو ٌُ َما َْل ِغبّن‬َ َ ْ

ْ‫ات َواْلر‬ َ َ َّ َ ْ َ َ َ َ
ِ ِ ‫وما خلكوا السماو‬
‎﴾٣٨﴿
We did not create the heavens and the earth and
whatever is between them for play.

‫اور مہ ےن رنیم و ا امسں اور اس یک درایمین ولخماقب وک لیھک امتہش رکےن ےک ےئل ںیہن دیپا ایک ےہ‬

हभने आकाशों औय धयती को औय जो कुछ उनके फीच है उन्हें खेर नहीॊ फनामा

wa-mā ḫalaqnā s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍa wa-mā baynahumā lāʿibīna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ‫َما َخ َل ْك َو ُاً َما ِإ َّْل ب ْال َح ّق َو َل َٰ ِن َّن َا ْه َث َر ًُ ْم َْل َِ ْػ َل ُمٍن‬

‎﴾٣٩﴿
We did not create them except with reason; but most
of them do not know.

‫مہ ےن اںیہن رصف قح ےک ساھت دیپا ایک ےہ نکیل اں یک اکثشبب اس ارم ےس یھب اجلہ ےہ‬

हभने उन्हें हक के साथ ऩैदा ककमा, ककन्तु उनभें से अधधककय रोग जानते नहीॊ

mā ḫalaqnāhumā ˈillā bi-l-ḥaqqi wa-lākinna ˈakṯarahum lā yaʿlamūna

َ َ ْ َ ْ ُ ُ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َّ
‎﴾٤٠﴿ ‫ِإن ٍِم الفص ِو ِمّكاثٌم اجم ِػّن‬
Indeed the Day of Judgment is the tryst for them all,

‫کشیب ہلصیف اک دں اں ست ےک ااھٹےئ اجےن اک رقمرہ وقب ےہ‬

ननश्चम ही फैसरे का ददन उन सफका ननमत सभम है ,

ˈinna yawma l-faṣli mīqātuhum ˈaǧmaʿīna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ُ َ ً َ ً ً ْ َ
َ ِ ‫َِ ٍْ َم ْل ِغ ِوُ مٍلَ َغن مٍلَ ض ًّْئ َوْل ً ْم‬
َ‫وص ُرون‬ ُ ْ َّ ْ َ ُ
‎﴾٤١﴿
the day when a friend will not avail a friend in any way,
nor will they be helped,

‫سج دں وکیئ دوست دورسے دوست ےک اکم ا ےن واال ںیہن ےہ اور ہن اں یک وکیئ دمد یک اجےئ یگ‬

ल्जस ददन कोई अऩना ककसी अऩने के कुछ काभ न आएगा औय न कोई सहामता ऩहुॉचेगी,

yawma lā yuġnī mawlan ʿan mawlan šayˈan wa-lā hum yunṣarūna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ُ َّ ُ َ ْ َ ُ ُ َّ ُ َّ َ َّ َ َّ
‎ ﴾٤٢﴿ ‫ِإْل من ر ِحم الل ي ۚ ِإهي ًٍ الػ ِزِز الر ِحّم‬
except for him on whom Allah has mercy.
Indeed He is the All-mighty, the All-merciful.

‫عالوہ اس ےک سج رپ خدا رمح رکے ہک کشیب وہ بزا ےنشخب واال اور رہمناں ےہ‬

र्सवाम उस व्मल्क्त के ल्जसऩय अल्राह दमा कये । ननश्चम ही वह प्रबुत्वशारी, अत्मन्त

दमावान है

ˈillā man raḥima llāhu ˈinnahū huwa l-ʿazīzu r-raḥīmu

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ُّ َّ َ َ َ
‎ ﴾٤٣﴿ ‫ِإن ضجرت الزل ٍِم‬َ َّ
Indeed the tree of Zaqqūm

‫کشیب ا رخب ںیم انک وھتہش اک درجت ےہ‬

ननस्सॊदेह ज़क़्कूभ का वऺ
ृ

ˈinna šaǧarata z-zaqqūmi

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ْ ُ ََ
‎﴾٤٤﴿ ‫طػام اْل ِث ِّم‬
will be the food of the sinful.

‫وج گناہگاروں یک ذغا ےہ‬

गुनहगाय का बोजन होगा,

ṭaʿāmu l-ˈaṯīmi

ُ ُْ ْ َ ْ ُْ َ
‎﴾٤٥﴿ ‫ٍن‬
ِ ‫هالمٌ ِو ِغ ِلُ ِفُ البط‬
Like molten copper it will boil in the bellies,

‫وہ ےلھگپ وہےئ ناےبن یک امدنن ٹیپ ںیم وجس اھکےئ اگ‬

तेर की तरछट जैसा, वह ऩेटों भें खौरता होगा,

ka-l-muhli yaġlī fī l-buṭūni

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ْ ََْ
‎ ﴾٤٦﴿ ‫هغل ُِ الح ِم ِّم‬
boiling like boiling water.

‫ےسیج رگم ناین وجس اھکنا ےہ‬

जैसे गभि ऩानी खौरता है

ka-ġalyi l-ḥamīmi
Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ْ َ َ َٰ َ ُ ُ ْ َ ُ ُ ُ
‎﴾٤٧﴿ ‫خذوى فاغ ِجلٍى ِإلَ سٍ ِاء الج ِح ِّم‬
„Seize him and drag him to the middle of hell,

‫ی‬ ‫ہ‬ ‫ح‬

‫فسوتشں وک مکح وہاگ ہک اےس ڑکپو اور بیچوں چیب م نک ےل اجو‬
ّ

"ऩकडो उसे, औय बडकती हुई आग के फीच तक घसीट रे जाओ,

ḫuḏūhu fa-ʿtilūhu ˈilā sawāˈi l-ǧaḥīmi

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ْ ََ ْ ِ َ َ ْ َ ُّ ُ َّ ُ
‎﴾٤٨﴿ ‫اب الح ِم ِّم‬
ِ ‫ثم صبٍا فٍق را ِس ِي ِمن غذ‬
then pour over his head the punishment of boiling
water.‟

‫رھپ اس ےک رس رپ وھکےتل وہےئ ناین اک ذعاب اندلی دو‬

कपय उसके र्सय ऩय खौरते हुए ऩानी का मातना उॊ डेर दो!"

ṯumma ṣubbū fawqa raˈsihī min ʿaḏābi l-ḥamīmi

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ُ َ ْ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ ْ ُ
‎﴾٤٩﴿ ‫ذق ِإهم اهت الػ ِزِز الن ِرِم‬
„Taste! Indeed you are the [self-styled] mighty and
noble!

‫وہک ہک اب اےنپ ےئک اک مسہ وھکچ ہک مت وت بزےاصجت ہع ّسب اور رتحمم ےہک اجےت ےھت‬

"भज़ा चख, तू तो फडा फरशारी, सज्जन औय आदयणीम है !

ḏuq ˈinnaka ˈanta l-ʿazīzu l-karīmu

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ُ َ ْ َ ُ ُ َ َ َٰ َ
‎﴾٥٠﴿ ‫ِإن ً ذا ما هوجم ِب ِي ثمجرون‬َّ

This is indeed what you used to doubt!‟

‫یہی وہ ذعاب ےہ سج ںیم مت کش دیپا رکرےہ ےھت‬

मही तो है ल्जसके ववषम भें तुभ सॊदेह कयते थे।"

ˈinna hāḏā mā kuntum bihī tamtarūna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ َ َ َ َّ ُْ َّ
‎﴾٥١﴿ ‫ّن‬
ٍ ‫ِإن المج ِكّن ِفُ مك ٍام ا ِم‬
Indeed the Godwary will be in a secure place,

‫اصابحں وقتی ٰوفحمظ اقمم رپ وہں ےگ‬

ِ ‫کشیب وہ‬

ननस्सॊदेह डय यखनेवारे ननल्श्चन्तता की जगह होंगे,

ˈinna l-muttaqīna fī maqāmin ˈamīnin

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

‎﴾٥٢﴿ ‫ٍن‬ ُ ُ َ َّ َ
ٍ ّ‫ات وغ‬ ٍ ‫ِفُ جو‬
amid gardens and springs,

‫نااغب اورومشچں ےک درایمں‬

फाग़ों औय स्रोतों भें

fī ǧannātin wa-ʿuyūnin
Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ َ َ ُّ َ ْ َ ْ َ ُ ُ َ ُ َ ْ َ
‎﴾٥٣﴿ ‫ِلبسٍن ِمن سود ٍس و ِإسجبر ٍق مجكا ِب ِلّن‬
dressed in fine silk and brocade, sitting face to face.

‫وہ رمشی یک نارنک اورومیٹ وپساک ےنہپ وہےئ انک دورسے ےک ساےنم ےھٹیب وہں ےگ‬

फायीक औय गाढे ये शभ के वस्र ऩहने हुए, एक-दस

ू ये के आभने-साभने उऩल्स्थत होंगे

yalbasūna min sundusin wa-ˈistabraqin mutaqābilīna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ُ ُ َ ْ َّ َ َ َ َٰ َ َ
ٍ ‫هذ ِلم وزوجواًم ِبحٍ ٍر ِغ‬
‎﴾٥٤﴿ ‫ّن‬
So shall it be, and We shall wed them to black-eyed
houris.

‫ااسی یہ وہاگ اور مہ بزی بزی ا وھکنں وایل وحروں ےس اں ےک وجرے اگلدںی ےگ‬

ऐसा ही उनके साथ भाभरा होगा। औय हभ साफ गोयी, फडी नेरोवारी ल्स्रमों से उनका वववाह
कय दें गे

ka-ḏālika wa-zawwaǧnāhum bi-ḥūrin ʿīnin

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ٓ َ َ ُّ َ َ َُْ
‎﴾٥٥﴿ ‫ِدغٍن ِفٌّا ِبن ِو فا ِهٌ ٍة ا ِم ِوّن‬
There they will call for every fruit, in safety.

‫وہ واہں ہش مسق ےک ویمے وکسں ےک ساھت بلط رکںی ےگ‬

वे वहाॉ ननल्श्चन्तता के साथ हय प्रकाय के स्वाददष्ट पर भॉगवाते होंगे

yadʿūna fīhā bi-kulli fākihatin ˈāminīna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ُ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ َ ْ ْ َّ َ ْ ْ َ ُ ُ َ
ْ‫ْل ِذولٍن ِف ٌَّا ال َمٍت ِإْل ال َمٍثة اْلول ََٰ ۖ َوولاًم‬َ
َ ْ َ ََ
‎ ﴾٥٦﴿ ‫غذاب الج ِح ِّم‬
There they will not taste death except the first death,
and He will save them from the punishment of hell

‫ح ّہی‬ ‫م‬ ‫ع‬ ‫ہل‬ ‫ب‬

‫اور واہں ی ومب ےک الوہ یسک ومب اک سہ ںیہن انھکچ وہاگ اورخدا اںیہن م ےک ذعاب ےس‬
‫وفحمظ رےھک اگ‬
वहाॉ वे भत्ृ मु का भज़ा कबी न चखेगे। फस ऩहरी भत्ृ मु जो हुई, सो हुई। औय उसने उन्हें
बडकती हुई आग की मातना से फचा र्रमा

lā yaḏūqūna fīhā l-mawta ˈillā l-mawtata l-ˈūlā wa-waqāhum ʿaḏāba l-ǧaḥīmi

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

ُ َ ْ ُ ْ َ ْ َ ُ َ َٰ َ َ ّ َّ ّ ً ْ َ
‎﴾٥٧﴿ ‫فضًل ِمن ر ِبم ۚ ذ ِلم ًٍ الفٍز الػ ِظّم‬
—a grace from your Lord. That is the great success.

‫ہی ست ا ب ےک رپورداگر اک لضف و رکم ےہ اور یہی ایشاں ےک ےئل ست ےس بزی اکایمیب ےہ‬

मह सफ तुम्हाये यफ के ववशेष उदाय अनुग्रह के कायण होगा, वही फडी सपरता है

faḍlan min rabbika ḏālika huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ُ َّ َ َ َ ْ ُ َّ َ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ
‎﴾٥٨﴿ ‫ف ِإهما ِ َّسرهاى ِب ِل َسا ِهم لػلٌم ِجذهرون‬
Indeed We have made it simple in your language, so
that they may take admonition.

‫سپ مہ ےن اس قسا ں وک ا ب یک رناںےس ا ساں رکدنا ےہ ہک ساند ہی ولگ تحیصن احلص رکںیل‬

हभने तो इस (कुयआन) को फस तुम्हायी बाषा भें सहज एवॊ सुगभ फना ददमा है ताकक वे
मादददहानी प्राप्त (कयें

fa-ˈinnamā yassarnāhu bi-lisānika laʿallahum yataḏakkarūna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َ ُ َ ْ ُّ ُ َّ ْ َ ْ
‎﴾٥٩﴿ ‫فارث ِكب ِإهٌم مرث ِكبٍن‬ َ

So wait! Indeed they [too] are waiting.

‫رھپ ا ب ااظتنر رکںی اور ہی ولگ یھب ااظتنر رک یہ رےہ ںیہ‬

अच्छा तुभ बी प्रतीऺा कयो, वे बी प्रतीऺा भें हैं

fa-rtaqib ˈinnahum murtaqibūna

Sūra ad-Dukhān ‫سورة الدخان‬

َّ َ ُ ٓ َ َّ َ ُ َ َ ّ َ َّ ُ َّ َ
‎‫اللٌم ص ِو غلَ محم ٍد و ا ِل محمد‬
O' Allāh send Your blessings on Muhammad
and the family of Muhammad.

‫اے اهلل !رحمت فسام دمحم وا ل)ع (دمحم رپ‬

ऐ अल्राह भुहम्भद औय आरे भुहम्भद ऩय अऩनी सराभती यख़
