I. PROJECT TITLE: SciRun: Igniting Curiosity on the Run
II. PROJECT RATIONALE:
Gubat National High School is a home to a thriving community of eager students and
committed Science teachers. On September 4, 1979, Proclamation No. 1895 was issued, designating
September as National Science Club Month and granting authority to the former Science Foundation of
the Philippines to carry out plans and events in conjunction with the Philippine Society of Youth Science
Clubs, Inc., and the Science Club Advisers Association of the Philippines. Pursuant to the Presidential
Proclamation No.28, declaring September as the Nation Science Club Month -The two science-related
clubs of Gubat National High School collaborates on a project that fosters information among the
pupils and to celebrate the month of September as the Nation’s Science month.
SciRun: Igniting Curiosity on the Run is a fund-raising activity of the Sci-Pi Organization
in collaboration with the Youth for the Environment in Schools Organization that aims to
promote a healthy lifestyle, social skills, teamwork, physical fitness, and to share scientific
knowledge even on the run by having Science stations that are scattered along the route of the
Fun run. The funds raised through this activity will be used in future activities and projects by
the both organizations:
Sci-Pi Organization Future activities and projects:
      1. STEMbayan renovation (benches and tables)
      2. Production of dishwashing soaps
      3. STEMfest this November
      YES-O future activities and projects:
      1. Buying trash bins for buildings in Gubat National High School.
      III. PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
    a) Celebrate Science Month in a dynamic and engaging manner.
    b) Foster a love for science among students and the local community.
    c) Promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle while emphasizing the importance of being
       mentally curious.
    d) Strengthen community bonds through shared interests and activities.
    e) Contribute to science education initiatives through participation and fund raising efforts.
    f) To serve as an income generating project for the two organization
STRATEGIES:
A. Phase 1
1. The information made by the Sci-Pi and YES-O Public Information Officer will be
disseminated through both of the organization’s social media platforms (with the help of the
SSLG) and posting flyers in every building.
2. The two organization’s officers and Representatives will begin to accept the PHP 35
registration fee starting on September 14, 2023 to September 22, 2023, from the participants who
want to take part in the event. Those who already paid the registration fee will be automatically
listed as participants in the SciRun, and will be given a permission letter.
3. A letter of request will be sent to the School’s RCYC for assistance in the said event.
B. Phase 2
1. All of the necessary materials, tools, and equipment will be prepared on September 18, 2023.
2. Sci-Pi and YES-O Representatives will get in touch with the Local Government Unit (LGU)
on these days to ask for guidance in the said event.
C. Phase 3
1. Coordination to Barangay Captains of the respective barangays that is part of the FunRun
route.
D. Phase 4
1. Assistance of the RCYC members and the LGU on the day of the event.
2. Organizing the participants of the event.
3. Sci-Pi Officers along with some of the YES-O Officers will prepare the 7 Stations along
with the Science Activities in their corresponding locations. While other YES-O officers will be
assigned in handling participants belongings.
Station 1: Solve the riddle.
Mechanics:
1. Groups that arrive at the station will be given a riddle; if they get the first answer correctly,
they can proceed to the next station. The remaining groups that didn’t get the answer will
continue answering riddles.
Station 2: What’s in the Box
Mechanics:
1. This activity will use the sense of touch of the participants.
2. On the table, there will be five boxes with holes aligned consecutively with different materials
inside.
3. The participants (each member of the group) will put their hands inside the box.
4. Each member should describe and guess the material inside.
5. All members must guess their respective materials to pass the station.
Station 3: 4 pics one word
Mechanics:
In order for the participants to advance to the next station they must first solve the puzzle.
1. The facilitators on the station will give each group an activity that displays four pictures. All
four images belong to a specific category or theme, which relates to the the word “Science”
2. Below the images, there is a set of empty spaces that represent the number of letters in the
mystery word.
3. Your goal is to guess the word that connects these four pictures.
4. If you had a hard time guessing, the facilitators will only give you 2 hints
Remember that the player or group with the most points and who finishes it faster at the end, will
become the winner and have the capabilities to advance on the next station.
Station 4: Ril or Fik
Mechanics:
1. The group of participants must choose a representative to draw a trivia and they will answer if
it’s ril (real) or fik (fake). If they answered wrong, they will eat a small portion of bittermelon. If
they got the correct answer, they will be able to proceed to the next station.
Station 5: Scirades
Mechanics:
1. The groups will play charades
2. The grpup will only need one or two representatives per group
3. The representative/s will draw in a carton containing science related words that will then be
acted by them.
4. The remaining group members need to guess the word to advance to the next station.
Station 6: Catch the airplane
Mechanics:
1. Catch the paper airplane.
2. Unfold it to reveal the question.
3. Proceed to station 7 if the question is successfully answered, if not, we shall pour water on the
person who does not correctly answer the question.
Station 7:
Station 7, as the last station, will consist of two kinds of games namely; a. What Element
Am I? and b. Bouncing SciQuiz. The mechanics of the games are as follows:
A. WHAT ELEMENT AM I?
       1. The participants will be asked to fall in line according to their arrival time.
       2. Each of the participants will be shown a flashcard with an element symbol.
       3. The participant will try to recognize what element is in the flashcard.
       4. If the participant succeeds, he/she will proceed to the next game, however,
       5. If the participant fails, he/she will go back to the end of the line and wait for
       his/her next turn to come.
B. BOUNCING SCIQUIZ
       1. After the participant succeeded in the first game, he/she will proceed to the
       second game.
       2. Each of the participants will be given a science-related question with choices.
       3. There will be four cups which corresponds to the four choices of the question.
       4. The participant will then answer the question by aiming and shooting the
pingpong ball to the cup that corresponds to his/her answer.
       5. The participant will be given five chances to shoot the pingpong ball.
       6. If the participant succeeds to put the ball into the cup of the correct answer, he/she
will then be able to pass Station 7, however,
       7. If the participant fails, he/she will proceed to the additional round.
C. Additional Round
This round is only for participants that failed to pass the Bouncing SciQuiz. Those who
have passed the second game will not participate in the round anymore.
       1. The participant will be asked to throw a six-sided die. The die answers the
question, “Will I able to exit Station 7?”.
       2. The chances of getting a “YES” is 5/6 whilst the chances of getting a “NO” is or
       1/6.
       3. If the participant gets YES, he/she will exit Station 7.
       4. In contrary, if the participants get NO, he/she will wait for his/her turn by going
back at the end of the line in the additional round.
4. Closing and awarding of the winners of 500 Pesos for the first place, 350 for the Second
Place, and 150 for The third place.
