1. What is your personal relationship with literature?
(1 paragraph in not less than 15
sentences.) Discuss your attitude towards literature, cite instances from way back to strengthen
your claim.
A life filled with words is a safe haven, that is literature for me. My personal relationship
with literature transcends mere entertainment. It embodies a profound connection to my life that
is rooted deeply in my values and how I live life every day. It has this driving force that shapes
my growth and development as an individual. It sparked my self-introspection, allowing me to
dig deeper and reflect on my actions and decisions in life. For example, when I have read
stories about typical young adult romance, I always run into situations wherein there are lots of
misunderstandings between the couples. It irked me when I read scenarios like that. However,
it became an eye-opener to me how important communication is in a relationship. It is not
always one party who should adjust for the other. Rather, it should be both of the parties
involved in the relationship who should meet halfway, instead of making a ruckus. Perhaps, one
thing that literature teaches me is that one should not make haste in finding a romantic partner.
One should go with the flow of the waters of life and wait until someone knocks on your door,
enters your life, accepts you for who you are, and stays amidst all the cruelties you will be facing
together. In addition, it expanded my understanding of the world, where I was able to know the
lenses of various people on various subjects or issues that are being reflected in our society.
For example, when I read literature entitled 'Intrigue' by Delores Fossen, I was spoonfed about
pieces of information how there is corruption happening to those people in power, happening
not just in a specified country, but rather, all around the globe. Moreover, it insinuates the
scenario of how people in power use their money and reputation to step the back of those who
are at the rock bottom of society. Upon reading this, I have come to realize that this kind of
situation is not just evident in the Philippines, but also to the first- world countries like America.
2. How has literature inspired you? (1 paragraph, 15 sentences) Discuss instances or incidents
in your life where you were inspired by something that you have read. It could be a passage, a
character, or the entirety of the story.
Literature has inspired me in many ways I haven't expected. The pages of the books be
they physical or online, allow me to explore the worlds I have yet to experience. It inspires me to
broaden my horizon, foster empathy, a profound understanding of human life, and much
appreciation for the richness of human experiences. Back then, I used to read online literary
works. I have this story that has greatly impacted my stance in life and this is entitled Task
Force Indigo: Remember Me, Harmony. This was the specific line in the story that says, "Never
ignore the good things in life even when you're going through hell," that had engraved in my
mind. I surely, posted it on Twitter to keep me reminded of how this quote from this story lifted
me up again. When I encounter things that are not doing any good to my mental and physical
state, I always think of negativity and that all Ying is kind of pounding me out of my safe zone.
I'm a whole wreck, closed ears, and ignore the good things in life. However, when I read this
passage, I awoken to the reality that amidst all the crises in life, there is always that goodness
around, keeping us to be stable and strong. Yes, that quote really inspired me to keep going
and be more optimistic and outgoing. Ignoring good things made me realize that I just wasted
opportunities. It's like picking up gold covered with mud and throwing it since it is not deemed to
have value because of the mud overshadowing it. To conclude, literature has had a profound
impact on my well-being as an individual who strives better for her daily endeavors. Thus, it
creates a well-balanced life for me.
3. As a future teacher, how will you teach, the love of literature to your students? (1 paragraph,
15 sentences)
As a future teacher, my goal would be to instill a love for literature in my students by
creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment. First, I would cultivate a classroom
environment that celebrates reading and encourages students to explore different genres and
authors. This can be done by having dedicated time for independent reading and establishing a
classroom library with a diverse range of books. There should also be sharing and discussing
book recommendations. By making reading a valued and enjoyable activity, students will be
more likely to develop a love for literature. Also, I would strive to make literature relevant and
relatable to my students' lives by selecting texts that align with their interests, experiences, and
cultural backgrounds. By choosing books that resonate with them, students will be more
engaged and invested in the reading process. In addition, I would encourage students to make
connections between the characters in the literature and their own lives. I would like them to
foster a profound understanding and appreciation of literature. Moreover, to enhance students'
engagement with literature, I would incorporate a variety of interactive activities into my lessons.
This could include role-playing, creating visual representations from books, and conducting
literature circles. Also, I will let them explore digital storytelling and interactive reading platforms.
By providing opportunities for students to be actively engaged with the literature, I will foster
deep connection and appreciation for literature. I will also encourage my students to think
critically about the themes, messages, and social issues presented in the literature. With this,
there would be meaningful discussions that will happen in the class.
