Are you familiar with the game?
All: Yes Sir
Alright, our game is somewhat
familiar to that. Florife: It is a nice game Sir!
There are five phrases that I’ve
prepared.
Alright, I guess you are all now

Alright! All of you did a great job!
All: Yes Sir!
Well done class!
C. Developmental Phase of the
Lesson
1. Presentation of the Lesson
With that, what do you think is
our lesson today?
Alright, what else class? Jhennah: I think it is all about
fitness sir.
Rain: Sir I think our lesson for
That’s correct! Our lesson for today is about sports.
today is all about Fitness at
Work through Sports.
So, are you all now ready to All: Yes sir
listen?
All: Yes sir
2. Discussion of the Lesson
Let us first define on what Team
Sports.
Team Sports is a type of sport
where the fundamental nature of
the game or sport necessitates
the participation of multiple
individuals working together as
a team.
Have you ever played any types
of team sports?
Alright! All: Yes Sir
As a player, we must have fitness
components in team sports.
So, what are the skills that you
and your teammates need in
playing team sports?
(Students raising their hands)
Andrew: Sir, we must have
communication and leadership.
Aside from communication,
leadership, coordination, the
most important skills that
players must have is teamwork.
We have here the different
activities that may improve
coordination?
Let us first define what is
coordination?
Richvan: Coordination is a process
that involves the use of strategies
and patterns of behavior aimed to
integrate actions, knowledge and
goals in order to achieve common
Yes, that’s right. We have here 2 goals.
types of activities that will
improve coordination.
Target Practice
Balloon kick
All: Yes Sir
Moving forward, we also have
different activities that may
develop agility and reaction
time.
What is the definition of agility
and reaction time?
(raising their hands)
Joseph: Sir, agility is the power of
moving quickly and easily.
Rafael: Reaction time is a measure
of the quickness with which an
organism responds to some sort of
stimulus.
Yes, that’s right. Thank you,
student 1 and 4.
Different activities that may
develop agility and reaction
time:
Wall pass
Balloon toss
Now, let’s go to power and
endurance.
Power and endurance are the
ability to execute movements of Andrian: Sir, it is the type of
power over time. serenade in their culture.
Example activity for power and
endurance is:
All: Squat Jumps!
Yes, that’s correct.
Keep in mind that in every
physical activities that we’re
doing, we must be aware on the
safety precautions on doing
physical activities.
All: Yes, Sir!
Playing sports or doing physical
activities may cause something
in our daily life. Some of which
help us become physically fit and
healthy, but we can also suffer
from injuries.
So, we have here the common
sports injuries and their first aid.
Class, what do you think are the
common sports injuries?
Florife: Sprain
Jhennah: Strain
Yes, that’s correct! Those are the
types of injuries that we’ve
mostly experienced.
For common sports injuries, we
have:
Dislocation
Fracture
(student’s raising their hands)
Lebron: Sir, dislocation is the
misalignment of two connected
joints that have come apart.
Thank you, student 1.
Dislocation is an injury in which
in the ends of your bones are
forced from a fall or a collision
during contact or high-speed
sports.
Now, what is fracture?
Florife: Sir, it is a broken bone.
Yes, that’s right. Thank you, Ms.
Florife.
A fracture is a partial or
complete break in the bone.
There are many different types
of fractures. Bone fractures are
often caused by falls, trauma, or
as a result of a direct blow or
kick to the body. Overuse or
repetitive motions can cause
stress fractures.
So, we tackled already about the
components of team sports and
the common injuries in sports.
Now, let’s go to Basketball and
Volleyball!
I’m aware that most of you here
loves sports. So first, what is
basketball? Lebron: It is a team sport with the
objectives to shoot the ball in the
hoop.
That’s correct. Basketball is a
team sport in which two teams,
most commonly of five players
each, opposing one another on a
rectangular court, compete with
the primary objective of
shooting a basketball through
the defender's hoop, while
preventing the opposing team
from shooting through their own
hoop.
Who invented the game
basketball? All: Dr. James Naismith
Dr. James Naismith created the
game basketball in December
1891. It is presented at the
famous school YMCA training
School in Springfield,
Massachusetts.
Now, what are the four types of
skills needed in playing
basketball? Rayvin: Shooting, dribbling, passing
and rebounding.
Thank you, Mr. Rayvin!
One of the most important skills
in basketball is shooting. It is the
act of tossing the ball with the
objective of putting it into the
basketball ring to get points.
Take note! When shooting the
ball, you must remember the
word BEEF which means
Balance, Eye and hand
coordination, Elbow alignment,
and Follow through.
Next is dribbling. Richvan: It is a skill in basketball
that permits a player to move inside
the court.
That’s right. Thank you, Mr.
Richvan.
Dribbling is a fundamental skill
in which a player uses one hand
to continuously bounce the ball
on the court. Dribbling helps you
control the ball, advance it
toward the hoop, and create
distance between you and your
defender. All: Yes Sir
Next is passing. It is a skill that
maximizes the player’s
involvement in setting up a play
to help the team scores.
Three ways of passing the ball:
Chest pass
Bounce pass
Overhead pass
Lastly, we have the rebounding. Jhenna: It is where you jump and
grab the ball.
Yes, that’s correct. Thank you,
Ms. Jhennah!
This is one of the major skills of
the game. Grabbing a rebound
means making your team gain a
chance to shoot again while the
other team actually loses it. This
is your ability to jump with
power to gain possession of the
ball when the ball bounces to the
rim after a failed shot before it
touches the floor.
We talked a while about
basketball. Now, let’s go to
volleyball.
Volleyball was invented by
William G. Morgan in 1985 in
Holyoke Massachussets. It is an
alternative game of basketball.
What do you think are the
different facilities and
equipment used in volleyball?
Rain: Playing court
Jimmuel: Net and post
Thirdy: The Ball
The playing court is a
rectangular shape measuring 18
meters in length and 9 meters in
width surrounded by a free zone
of at least 3 meters in width.
Parts of the volleyball court:
Center line
Attack line
Back zone
Service zone
The net and post
Two posts are placed vertically
along the center line, to which
the net is tied. Two antennas, 9
meters apart and 80cm each in
height attached on the net.
Lastly is the ball.
Thirdy: The ball is made up of
flexible or synthetic leather and
inside is a bladder made up of
rubber.
Thank you, Mr. Thirdy!
The volleyball ball is a spherical
measuring a diameter of 20.7-
21.3 and a circumference of 65-
67 centimeters or 26 inches and
weighs between 260-280 grams.
Now that you already know the
equipment and facilities of
volleyball, let’s now discuss what
are the basic skills in volleyball.
What do you think are the basic
skills in volleyball? Rain: Service, block, set or toss and
attack or spike.
Thank you, Ms. Rain.
We have six types of basic skills
in volleyball, those are:
Service
i. Underhand service
ii. Overhead service
Pass
Dig pass
Block
Set or toss
Attack or spike
Always remember class, all these
skills must be developed so that
you can benefit from playing
volleyball. If you lack the skills
needed, you may not achieve the
health benefits of this team
sports.
All: Yes, Sir!
That’s our lesson for today.
Any questions, clarifications
class? All: None, Sir!
Thank you and may God bless us
all!
D. Generalization
So here are some questions, to
deepen more your understanding.
1. Who was the proponent of the
game basketball? Rayvin: Dr. James Naismith!
2. Which of the following activities
may develop coordination? Richvan: target practice and balloon
toss
3. Which type of pass uses the floor
in transferring the ball towards a
teammate?
Audree: Bounce pass!
Wow! That’s right! I’m glad that
you have learned a lot on our
lesson.
All: Yes Sir
IV. Evaluation
For your activity, think of a
player that you know that
motivates you to work harder in
sports to achieve your dreams
and to succeed.
You may now start!
Time’s Up!
Pass your papers in front. (Students are passing their papers)
Alright! All your answers are
inspiring!
Well done class! I am glad that
you really understand and
enjoyed our lesson today. Don’t
forget that in sports, you will not
achieve or succeed if you will not
work harder.
All: Thank you, Sir. We will keep
V. Assessment that in mind.
So for your assessment, Take a
video of yourself while doing the
different skills of basketball and
volleyball.
For boys, you will execute the
different skills of basketball, and for
girls you will execute the different
skills of volleyball.
Do you have any questions?
Yes? (calls one student)
Florife: When will we submit it, Sir?
You will submit it during our period
before proceeding in our next topic.
Florife: Thank you, Sir!
You’re welcome! How about the
others do you have any questions?
All: None, Sir!
That's all for today. I hope you
learned something from our
lessons and have fun.
Goodbye class and see you on next
meeting!
All: Goodbye and Thank you Sir!
