am Aramco approved HSE officer. I have more than five year experience as a safety
officer. I did my Belcher of Arts from AIOU. I have done NEBOSH and also done IOSH
and OSHA 30 HOURS construction.

Q.1 What is safety?
Ans: Safety is a common sense, saving life of our self and other.
Q.2 What are the responsibilities of Safety Officer?
Ans:
1) Conduct toolbox talk, and discussion of observation of unsafe act and unsafe condition
etc.
2) Work permit system and attachment of documents such as JSA and Method Statement.
3) Heavy equipment checklist.
4) Implementation the rules and regulations of safety and the client procedure in working
place.
5) Make daily inspection to the worker to ensure that they are working within the frame of
safety.
6) Checking the safe work plan and housekeeping in working area before starting the work.
7) Design and install different kind of safety sign i.e. informative, directional etc.
8) Regular inspection and maintains the safety and firefighting equipment.
9) Arrange First-aid training classes to the worker.
10) Preparing daily report regarding safety in working place.
11) Inspection of heavy equipment and lifting material such as wire rope, sling and shackle
etc.
12) Check the welfare facility is available at site for example Tiolat, Drinking water and rest
shelter, Smoking shelter etc.
13) Check that the workers wear the proper PPE as per required job.
Q.3 What is toolbox talk?
Ans: Toolbox talk is an informal group discussion that focuses on a particular safety issue.
These tools can be used daily to promote department safety culture as well as to facilitate
health and safety discussion on job site.
Q.4 What is near-miss?
Ans: Near-miss is an unplanned, unwanted event that did not result in injury or damage. It is
Also called “Near-Hit” or “Close Call”.
For Example: Material falling from scaffolding and almost hitting an employee
underneath.

Ans: Hazards are the source or situation which is the potential to cause injury or damage.

Ans: Any unplanned, unwanted event which is a potential to cause harm or injury.
Q.7 What is Accident?
Ans: Any unplanned, unwanted event which is the potential to damage the property or fatality.
Q.8 What is unsafe act?
Ans: Anything that person does which may cause injury or accident.
Q.9 What is unsafe condition?
Ans: A condition in work place which may cause injury or accident.
Q.10 What is means by JSA (Job Safety Analysis)?
Ans: Job Safety analysis is the step by step analysis of a job to determine the safe working
procedure is called JSA.
Q.11 What is the purpose of JSA?
Ans: The purpose of JSA is to identify the hazard and control measure.
Q.12 What are the steps of JSA?
Ans:
1) Select the job to be analysis.
2) Identified the potential to the hazard.
3) Documents the control measure.
4) Identified who is responsible.
5) Monitor and remove.
Q.13 What is hierarchy of hazard?
Ans:
1) Elimination: Physical removes the hazard.
2) Substantial: Replace the hazard.
3) Administrator Control: Isolate people from hazard.
4) Engineering Control: Change the way of people they are working.
5) PPE: Protect the worker by Personal Protective Equipment.

Ans: Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter. It is a process which breaks the electrical circuit to
prevent electrical shock.

Ans: Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker. It is a device use in electrical installation with high earth
impedance to prevent shock.
Q.16 What is means by method statement?
Ans: It is legal document which is submitted by the sub-contractor to the main contractor.

task or process to be completed including a step by step guide on how to do the job
safety.

Ans: Material Safety Data Sheet is detail information of the physical and chemical properties
as well is health safety and fire.
Q.18 What is welding?
Ans: Welding is the process in which two or more metal are join together with applications of
heat.
Q.19 What is gas cutting?
Ans: The process of cutting metal by using oxygen and combustible gas is called gas cutting.
Q.20 What is SWL?
Ans: Safe work load is the maximum load that can apply to the lifting tools safely.
Q.21 What is work radius?
Ans: Is the maximum distance where a certain activities for lifting.
Q.22 What is IDLH?
Ans: Immediately Danger to Life and Health.
Q.23 What is LEL?
Ans: Lower Explosive Limit. The minimum concentration of vapor gasses and dust in air
below which propagation of flame does not occur on contact with a source of ignition is
called LEL.
Q.24 What is UEL?
Ans: Upper Explosive Limit. The maximum proportion of vapor gasses and dust in air above
which proposal the flam does not occur on contact with a source of ignition is called
UEL.

Ans: Construction Safety Manual. It has two volumes. One is CSAR and other is WSSM.
CSAR means Contractor Safety Administrative Requirements.
WSSM means Work Site Safety Manual. Both have four parts.
