A diagonal fringed scrap blanket

Materials:
US Size 2 (2.75 mm) - 32” Circular Knitting Needle
Sock (Fingering) Yarn Scraps - Yardage Depends on Blanket Size (model is 45”x 50”)
Instructions:
Sort yarn scraps by length. You will need longer yarn pieces as the blanket grows. Two rows are knit with
each yarn scrap, creating 2 adjacent 4” yarn tails on the right blanket edge which makes fringe. Each yarn piece
needs to be at least 5-6 times the length of the row you are knitting.
Cast on 3 sts, leaving a 4-5” tail
Row 1: K across with same yarn, cut yarn at the end, leaving a 4-5” tail
Row 2: Kfb with new yarn, leaving a 4-5” tail, K across
Row 3: Kfb, K across, cut yarn at the end, leaving a 4-5” tail
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 until you reach the desired diagonal length. The model was knit to 371 sts (requiring 13
yd yarn pieces for 2 rows). Firmly square knot each of the two matching yarn tails together as your work progresses.
Turn work to wrong side. You’re now starting on the non-fringe edge with new yarn.
Row 1: Ssk, leaving a 4-5” tail, K across
Row 2: Ssk, K across, cut yarn at the end, leaving a 4-5” tail
Repeat these two rows until 3 sts remain, P3tog. Cut yarn, leaving a 4-5” tail, pull through st, binding off.
Knot last two fringe pieces together. Trim fringe evenly to 4”. Tucking a section at a time into folded 4” long heavy
paper and trimming the yarn edges along the bottom works well.
