fingering weight yarn

Needle size 3.5mm double pointed & circular 16” optional 4

mm needle for cast on.

Tension: 30 stitches and 34 rows in pattern counted only on

rows 1 and 4 =4” knit circularly on 3.5mm needles. Try not to
stretch your knitting width wise too much when you
measure.

Long tail knitted thumb cast on. This is a very versatile cast on; it has a firm yet
elastic edge.
METHOD:
You will need a long tail (the length will depend on how many stitches you wish
to cast on approximately ¼ to ½” per stitch). Place a slipknot on the right hand
needle, wrapping the tail around your left thumb, clockwise.
Using the yarn from the ball wrap it around your right index finger.
Insert the needle through the loop on your left thumb, wrap the yarn with your
right hand around the needle, and pull a stitch through. Gently snug up the loop
and repeat.

Pattern repeat is 5 stitches & 4 rows. Stitch count increases to 6 st(s) on rows 2 & 3
then back down to 5 st(s) at the completion of row 4. Only, count your st(s) after
completing rows 1 or 4.

Neck
Using either double pointed needles or 16”, circular needle in size 3.5mm (if you
cast on tightly use a 4mm needle to cast on and then change to the 3.5 mm
needle for rest of top) and your loosest cast on, I used the long tail knitted cast
on described above.

Cast on 110 stitches join into a circle being careful not to twist the stitches.
Place a marker and start on row 1 of pattern. Work 22 repeats of the 5-stitch
pattern. Continue working in pattern for 16 rows total. You should be about to
start row 1 of the pattern.
Use different colour markers than used to designate the beginning of row.

Work the first 15 stitches in pattern, (theses will be the right sleeve) place a new
marker,
The next stitch should be a k1tbl, work this stitch and 39 more stitches, (these will
be for the front), place a marker,
The next stitch should be a k1tbl, work this stitch and 14 more stitches, (these will
be for the left sleeve), place a marker,
The next stitch should be a k1tbl, work this stitch and 39 more stitches, (these will
be for the back), and you should now be back at the beginning of round
marker.

Now that markers are in place, you will do your first increase round. You should
be about to start row 2 of pattern. table shows how to increase stitches in

NOTE: On the following row, when you - 0 - 1 ℓ 2
get to the m1 either, knit or purl into it - - ℓ 1
to continue the stitch pattern. Always
work the increased stitches into pattern and keep the marked k1tbl stitch
constant.

3
Continue in pattern increasing every other row for a total of 17 (22) times.
Then increase every 4 rows 10 times.
At this point you should have 68(78) stitches between sleeve markers (counted
on a row #1 or 4).

Work the 1st marked stitch, loosely cast off the 68 (78) sleeve stitches, you should
now be at the 2nd marker, work until the end of the front 95 (105) stitches,
cast off the next 68 (78) stitches for the left sleeve.
Work the last 95 (105) stitches.
You should be back at the beginning.
Cast on 10(15) stitches for underarm, work until the next underarm space, and
cast on 10(15) stitches.
You should have 210 (240) stitches.
Continue in pattern working the newly cast on stitches into the pattern.
When work measures 14(16)” from the underarm cast on or the length you
require.
Cast off loosely in pattern on a row # 1 or 3.
You are Done.
