READING THE PATTERN

Sizes are separated by parentheses, so you can
interpret them as size 1 (size 2) size 3 (size 4) size 5
(size 6) size 7 (size 8) size 9. For example when you
see "cable cast on 3 (3) 4 (4) 4 (4) 5 (5) 6 stitches" ABBREVIATIONS
this means that size 1 should cast on 3 stitches, size 2
should cast on 3 stitches, size 3 should cast on 4 SM: slip marker
stitches, and so on. YO: yarn over

THIS PATTERN IS FOR PERSONAL, NON-

COMMERCIAL USE ONLY. THE PATTERN
MAY NOT BE COPIED, RESOLD OR
REDISTRIBUTED IN ANY WAY. NOR MAY
YOU SELL ANY ITEMS PRODUCED USING
THE DIRECTIONS IN THIS PATTERN.
TECHNIQUES
YARN OVER (YO)

Take your working yarn and Pull the yarn to the back,
Knit the next stitch normally
place it in the front making sure that it wraps
note that if your next stitch
around your right needle
is a purl. you should bring
the yarn to the front again
THE TOP
Note: you are knitting this sweater in reverse (to avoid purling
the entire sweater)
1. Using your 6mm needles, long tail cast on 60 (60) 60 (64) 64
(64) 68 (68) 68 stitches. Join in the round, making sure that
your stitches are not twisted. Place a stitch marker at the
beginning of the row
2. *Knit 1, purl through the back loop* repeat section inside *
until the end of the row. This is 1x1 twisted ribbing.
3. Repeat step 2 until you have done 8 rows of ribbing
4. Switch to your 8mm needles. Set up row: [Purl through the
back loop, knit 18 (18) 18 (19) 19 (19) 20 (20) 20, purl
through the back loop, place marker. Purl through the back
loop, knit 8 (8) 8 (9) 9 (9) 10 (10) 10, purl through the back
loop, place marker.] Repeat section inside [] a total of 2
times. You have sectioned the front, sleeve, back, and sleeve.
5. Increase row: *Purl through the back loop, yo, knit until 1
stitch before stitch marker, yo, purl through the back loop,
SM*, repeat section inside * a total of 4 times. You have
increased by 8 stitches.
6. *Purl through the back loop, knit until you have 1 stitch
before the stitch marker, purl through the back loop, SM*
repeat section inside * a total of 4 times.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you have 164 (164) 164 (184) 184
(184) 204 (204) 204 stitches. 46 (46) 46 (51) 51 (51) 56 (56)
56 stitches for the front and back and 36 (36) 36 (41) 41 (41)
46 (46) 46 stitches for the sleeves. You will now divide the
sleeves from the body.
8. Work 46 (46) 46 (51) 51 (51) 56 (56) 56 stitches, place the
next 36 (36) 36 (41) 41 (41) 46 (46) 46 stitches on a scrap
piece of yarn, work 46 (46) 46 (51) 51 (51) 56 (56) 56
stitches, place the next 36 (36) 36 (41) 41 (41) 46 (46) 46
stitches on a scrap piece of yarn. Leave all stitch markers
where they are (so they still separate the front from the
back). You have 92 (92) 92 (102) 102 (102) 112 (112) 112
stitches for the body.
THE BODY
You will now just be working on the
stitches for the body.
1. Increase row: *Purl through the back
loop, yo, knit until 1 stitch before stitch
marker, yo, purl through the back loop,
SM*, repeat section inside * a total of 2
times. You have increased by 4 stitches.
2. *Purl through the back loop, knit until
you have 1 stitch before the stitch
marker, purl through the back loop,
SM* repeat section inside * a total of 2
times.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have 100
(108) 116 (126) 134 (142) 152 (160) 168
stitches. 50 (54) 58 (63) 67 (71) 76 (80)
84 stitches for both the front and the
back.
4. You will now continue knitting
without increases to lengthen the body.
a. *Purl through the back loop, knit
until you have 1 stitch before the
stitch marker, purl through the back
loop, SM* repeat section inside * a
total of 2 times.
b. *Purl through the back loop, yo, ssk,
knit until you have 3 stitches before
the stitch marker, k2tog, yo, purl
through the back loop, SM* repeat
section inside * a total of 2 times.
5. Repeat step 4 until your piece measures
15 (15) 16 (17) 18 (19) 20 (21) 21 inches
from the neckline (or to desired length).
6. Cast off loosely (if you're working with
mohair I recommend an elastic bind off
or sizing up needles for the cast off)
THE SLEEVES
1. Turn your work inside out so that the right side (in this
case, the reverse stockinette side) faces you. Pick up the
36 (36) 36 (41) 41 (41) 46 (46) 46 stitches that were on
hold, then pick up 8 (8) 8 (9) 9 (9) 12 (12) 12 stitches
under the sleeve. Place a stitch marker to mark the
beginning of the row (in the middle of the newly picked
up stitches). You have 44 (44) 44 (50) 50 (50) 58 (58) 58
stitches. Turn your work so that the wrong side is
facing you (so that you are only doing knits).
2. You will now add length to the sleeves. Knit in
stockinette until your sleeve measures 17 (18) 19 (20) 21
(22) 22 (22) 22 inches from the underarm (or to desired
length).
3. Cast off loosely (if you're working with mohair I
recommend an elastic bind off or sizing up needles for
the cast off)
4. Repeat for the other sleeve :)
5. Weave in all ends
You're done!
