WRITING SKILLS
REPORT WRITING

INTRODUCTION
✓ A report is a written account of an event that has occurred recently.
✓ It includes facts and is based on observations.
✓ It has a specific composition.
✓ A Report is a factual description or account of an event.
✓ It may also be an objective analysis or evaluation of something.
✓ Depending upon its nature, a report can be a single paragraph or a single page
writes up (Multiple Paragraphs).
✓ Thus we have various forms of reports- newspaper reports, inquiry reports,
progress or action taken report, a report of a meeting etc. each having a distinct
character and format.
✓ According to the subject matter different reports have different essential
elements in it.
A Report of some event/function held somewhere should contain:-
➢ Name and Nature of the event held.
➢ Occasion/purpose of the event.
➢ Date, time & place where the event held.
➢ Chief Guest(s) of the function
➢ Inauguration
➢ Chief Guest’s message
➢ Comprehensive details of the event
➢ The end of the report
POINTS TO REMEMBER
• Write a detailed report on the given event.
• Write a report in past tense.
• Give a catchy Headline to the report.
• Write the name of the reporter in the next line of the headline
(right hand side corner)
• Write a detailed report from the beginning till the end of the programme.
• (Name of the chief guest, prize winners etc.)
• Write a report in the box.
• Use short and simple sentences.
• Write a report in 120 words.
Some basic point to be taken care of while writing an informative report:
✓ A report should be written in past tense.
✓ A report should be written in a practical and professional manner
presenting the necessary information as clearly as possible.
✓ An effective report is easy to follow and very well structured
beginning with a heading and running into several small paragraphs
each dealing with only one aspect of the subject.
✓ The heading should be very clear and factual.
✓ The purpose of the report and how the information for it was
collected should be mentioned in the beginning.
✓ Round off with a summary of the situation, a conclusion or a
recommendation, appeal or warning, as is appropriate.

➢ Celebrate, organize, arrange, was held, Conducted
➢ invited, presided, introduced, started, felicitated, gave speech,
advised, told
➢ in charge of, participated, attended, decorated,
proposed/gave vote of thanks

DISTRICT SCIENCE EXHIBITION-2020
-STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE
Pune, August 6 : Shri. Rabindranath Tagore Jr. college had
organized a District Science Exhibition in the Recreation Hall of the
college on 4th and 5th August, 2020.
Noted scientist from ISRO and a local resident of district, XYZ,
was the chief guest. He presided over the opening ceremony. The
motive behind the exhibition was to make students aware of the new
discoveries and developments that have taken place in the field of
science. It focused on inspiring the students to take a keen interest in
science by looking at the wonders of science projected through
various models and experiments. The projects made by students were
modelled on importance of science in our day-to-day life, like the
working models of mechanical machines, electronic items etc.
Various students visited and enjoyed the exhibition over the
span of two days. The exhibition concluded with a felicitation
ceremony of all the participants. The project on central air purification
system won the best project award.
The HOD of the science department, while addressing the gathering
at the felicitation ceremony, praised the participants for their efforts.
The exhibition concluded with a vote of thanks given by the President of
Science Council, Radhika Khatri.
All in all, the exhibition was very well planned and was very successful.

‘Prize Distribution Ceremony’
Thane, January 15 : Prize Distribution Ceremony was
organized in New Vision Jr. College on the 15th January, 2021. Dr.
Deshmukh, an educationist had been invited as the chief guest. The
function was presided by The Zilla Parishad Education Officer, in the
presence of the dignitaries in the town. The function started
accurately on scheduled time.
The function was inaugurated by the chief guest by lighting
the lamp. The Vice Principal of Jr. College introduced the president
and the chief guest and all other honourable guests briefly. All of
them were felicitated with bouquets.
Then the main function of prize distribution started. One of our students,
Ganesh Mokashi, who had secured the highest marks in all subjects was
felicitated first. The chief guest offered him the prize of Rs.1000/-and a medal. All
the pupils clapped and congratulated him. The students who had done well in
different competitions held in the college throughout the year had been
honoured by the chief guest.
While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Dr. Deshmukh advised
the students to study hard and told them to make use of the opportunities. He
also told about the difficulties, hurdles that occur in the way of our life. But he
advised to accept those difficulties, hurdles as challenges and overcome them. He
supported these principles by telling the examples of great persons like Dr.
Babasaheb Ambedkar, Abraham Lincoln and the examples of some players,
musicians and actors. The speech was really very inspiring. The function
concluded with a vote of thanks given by the Supervisor of Jr. College, Mr.
Gaikwad.
Your college recently organized an awareness programme on
“International Women's Day”. Write a report in about 100-150 words,
adding all information and the overall happenings of this event.

International Women's Day was celebrated on 8th March in a unique way in
Navjeevan High School and Junior College, Rajapur. The Day began with a
beautiful and thoughtful prayer by the students of English club. The prayer
highlighted the importance of women, the role of women and her greatness
in every sphere of our life.
A skit on the life of 'Jhansi Ki Rani Lakshmi Bai', was enacted by class Xlth students. The
skit conveyed an inspiring message to the women of this generation to be women of
courage, compassion and care as well as to be self- reliant and an independent women.
Manasvi and Prathamesh of class XIl, highlighted the significance of the day and boosted
the self-confidence of the women present in the audience. They also appreciated the
unique qualities of women on the whole. All the women teachers were recognized and
felicitated for their unique qualities and skills with gift and certificate.
The principal Mr. Pradhan Sir addressed on the occasion and appreciated women and
their role in all walks of life. Vote of thanks was expressed by Manasvi of class XI. The
programme was concluded by singing the National Anthem. The entire programme of the
day was compered by Siddhi and Aditi of class XI. The Junior College teachers and
students with the guidance of the principal organized this grand event and made it a
success.

50 Students of Navjeevan High School & Junior College visited the Nagarhole park which
is also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park in Karnataka. It was a four day visit from 27th
September 2023 to 30th September 2023 led by Mr. R S. Naik Sir and two other senior
teachers - Mr. V.M. Patel and Mrs. Aruna Shastri of Science department. The team stayed
in the Bison resort. Students attended seminars and workshops on the first two days
conducted by the staff of the national park. Students were briefed about the safety and
precautions to be taken during their jungle safari.
On the third day, Students went for jungle safari in groups. Each group was
accompanied by a local guide. All the groups were successful in spotting the
big cats, sloth bears and other animals. Students took photographs and
noted their observations of the avifauna and the Wild life. Later, Students
made wonderful and scenic PowerPoint presentations on their observations.
They stated that they had acquired immense knowledge about the avifauna
and wildlife as well as the ways and need to conserve it. Thus, the visit to the
jungles of Nagarhole proved a successful tour indeed.
