Rocket Popsicle Pattern by Hiyo Crochet

www.hiyocrochet.com
Nothing says “summer” better than popsicles (actually popsicles and the always-creepy ice
cream truck music). Here’s an amigurumi version of a classic!

Supplies

Yarn: Scheepjes Stone Washed XL, Aran, 50g=75m, 70% Cotton, 30% Acrylic. In Red
Jasper (red), Moon Stone (white), Blue Apatite (blue), and Axinite (light brown).
Hook: 4mm
Tapestry Needle
2 Safety Eyes--Any size
Stitch Marker if you need it
Poly-Fill

Gauge
2

Truly doesn’t matter with this one. I did use a very small sized hook for this yarn, but it makes it
less likely there will be holes where the stuffing might show. However, it makes the front post
half double Crochets pretty fiddly. If you’re having trouble doing the hand gymnastics just
switch to any hook up to and including 6.00mm.

Finished Size
6” tall and 2” wide or whatever.

Special Stitches
FPhdc: Front Post Half Double Crochet
BLO: Back Loop Only

Skill Level

Remember, you adventurous beginners can search up these stitches on YouTube. I’d make my
own basics videos but YouTube is already so saturated with excellent instructional videos (that
and I hate my voice, my hands, and it would probably come out rubbish).

Notes
This guy is worked in rounds starting at the top. There is no joining at the end of rounds. No
sewing involved unless you count the stitch for the mouth.

With Red Jasper (red) ch 3, sl st to first ch to make a ring.

3

Rnd 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a sc), 6 sc in ring--6 sc

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st (remember start with the actual st
from Rnd 1, not the ch)--12 sc
Rnd 3: (2 sc, 1 sc) around--18 sc. By now your little nubbin
will be curving. Make sure it curves AWAY from you so the
right side of the work ends up on the outside.
Rnd 4: Hdc around--18 Hdc.
Rnd 5: [FPhdc in next 3 sts, Hdc in next 3 sts] three
times--9 FPhdcs and 9 Hdc.
Rnd 6: Repeat Rnd 5.

Rnd 7: Repeat Rnd 5. Join Moon Stone (white) and fasten off Red Jasper (red). The shape
should be a bit triangular now.
4

Rnd 8: With Moon Stone (white) repeat Rnd 5.

Rnds 9-10: Repeat Rnd 5. Time for eyes and stuffing in the top. Put the eyes wherever they

look cutest.
Rnd 11: Repeat Rnd 5. Join Blue Apatite (blue) and fasten off Moon Stone (white).
Rnds 12-14: Repeat Rnd 5.
Rnd 15: In BLO, sc around--18 sc.
Rnd 16: [sc 2 tog, sc] six times--12 sc.
Rnd 17: [sc 2 tog, sc] four times--8 sc. Join
Axinite (light brown) and fasten off Blue
Apatite (blue). More stuffing time!
Rnds 18-23: With Axinite (light brown), sc
around--8 sc.
Rnd 24: Add a little more stuffing into the
stick, sc 2tog around--4 sc. Fasten off
leaving a tail. Thread onto tapestry needle
and cinch closed.

Finishing
Using black yarn or thread embroider a little
mouth under the eyes. Use a cotton swab
and some powder blush to make rosy
cheeks.
Push the stick into the piece so that the blue rnd of BLO sc is the bottom of the popsicle. If it’s
not staying put you can put a stitch on each side.
Weave in ends.
