Cardigan
Whitney Terrell - @adventurebounddesigns

SNOWBURST CARDIGAN 1
The sweater is knit from the top down, with some short row shaping to raise the back of
the neck for comfort. The colorwork chart is started after the short rows and continues to the
underarm separation.
This pattern is medium dif culty because of the yoke chart. The yoke goes by quickly.
Use tacking sparingly in the yoke to control oats at your desired rate being sure to AVOID
stacking a tack from one round to the next in the same column of stitches.

Suggested Needles and Notions:

Needle sides are suggestions. Use the sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.
-US 4 or 2 sizes smaller than main needle
- US 6
- DPN or small circular needle in all sizes for working sleeves
- BOR Marker + additional markers for chart
- Waste yarn or stitch holders for sleeve
- Darning needle
- Scissors
- Blocking Mat and pins

a unique marker after the 3rd stitch. Join in the round and PM to indicate BOR, be careful not
to twist sts. The unique marker marks the center front of the sweater and where color
changes should occur.
NOTE- Steek stitches are always worked alternating colors to secure the yarn in this
section. The Steek section is not charted feel free to work in stripes or in a checkerboard
pattern to balance yarn usage. The Steek stitches will not be mentioned in the pattern further
until the time comes to pick up bands and cut the steek. All shaping occurs in the body
stitches and all stitch counts will EXCLUDE the stitches from the steek.

Secure Steek:
Using your preferred method secure your steek stitches between the column of stitches
2 and 3 and 4 and 5. (I use my sewing machine and a short stitch because I nd it less bulky
than a crochet edge.)

Front bands:
Left Front: With smaller needle, pick up and knit 2 stitches over every three rows in
between the body of the sweater and the steek stitches. Make sure to end up with an odd
number of stitches to that your bands will be balanced. Work in k2, p2 rib for 12 rows.
Right Front: Repeat as for left front band. After row 5 evenly space 10 button holes in
then next row using the YO, K2tog across the band. Work 6 more rows and bind off in
pattern.
Finishing
Weave in ends and block. Enjoy your sweater!
