1. PLANNING INFORMATION
A. EFFECTIVITY
NOTE
Installed floats with P/Ns and S/Ns present in Tables 1,
2.A and 2.B marked with letter “R” after the S/N are not
affected by this Service Bulletin.
Part I
All AW169 installing aft float with life raft assemblies P/N 6F9560V01931 and/or
P/N 6F9560V02031, with S/Ns listed in Table 1.
Part II
All AW169 installing fwd float assemblies P/N 6F9560V01731, and/or
P/N 6F9560V01831 and/or aft float with life raft assemblies P/N 6F9560V01931 and/or
P/N 6F9560V02031, with S/Ns listed in Table 2.A and Table 2.B.
B. COMPLIANCE
Part I
Within and not later than 25 flight hours after the issue of this Service Bulletin.
Part II
Within and not later than 24 months after the issue of this Service Bulletin or in
conjunction with the Task 95-24 or 95-25 of the DM 69-A-05-21-00-00A-028A-A (as
applicable), whichever occurs first.
C. CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS

D. REASON
Due to manufacturing defects, DART issued the SB n°23-2 (ref. to Annex A of this
Service Bulletin) to prescribe the replacement of three specific batches of Float
assemblies.
E. DESCRIPTION
Due to two production quality escapes occurred during the manufacturing process at
LHD supplier, DART, three batches of Emergency Floatation Systems (EFS) and
Emergency Floatation Systems with integrated Life Rafts (EFS&LR) must be removed
from service for repair/restoring of the approved configurations. So, this Service Bulletin
prescribes the replacement of three specific batches of FWD EFS P/N 6F9560V01731

or P/N 6F9560V01831, and of AFT EFS&LR P/N 6F9560V01931 or
P/N 6F9560V02031 affected by two manufacturing discrepancies reported by DART.
Depending on the defect type, the replacement is required to be performed within two
different compliances.
In case the replacement of any float is not performed within the allowed compliance
time, the whole Emergency Floatation System must be deactivated and secured.
F. APPROVAL
The technical content of this Service Bulletin is approved under the authority of DOA
nr. EASA.21.J.005. For helicopters registered under other Aviation Authorities, before
applying the Service Bulletin, applicable Aviation Authority approval must be checked
within Leonardo Helicopters customer portal.
EASA states mandatory compliance with inspections, modifications or technical
directives and related time of compliance by means of relevant Airworthiness
Directives.
If an aircraft listed in the effectivity embodies a modification or repair not LHD certified
and affecting the content of this Service Bulletin, it is responsibility of the
Owner/Operator to obtain a formal approval by Aviation Authority having jurisdiction on
the aircraft, for any adaptation necessary before incorporation of the present Service
Bulletin.
G. MANPOWER
To comply with this Service Bulletin the following MMH are deemed necessary.
Part I: approximately two (2);
Part II: approximately two (2).
MMH are based on hands-on time and can change with helicopter configuration,
personnel and facilities available. MMH are not comprehensive of the overall hours
necessary to get access to work areas and to remove all the equipment that interferes
with the application of the prescribed instructions.

MATERIALS on free of charge basis, except for Consumable Materials and Special
Tools.
NOTE: Customers who fail to comply with the instructions in this Service Bulletin before
the compliance date are not eligible for the aforementioned special policy.

Administration Dpt.
NOTE: WRM will include RETURN MATERIAL AUTHORIZATION (RMA) number; the
unit disembarked from the aircraft (P/N 6F9560V01731 and/or 6F9560V01831 and/or
P/N 6F9560V01931 and/or 6F9560V02031) has to be returned to LH within thirty (30)
calendar days after the shipment of the replacement part. In case of missing return
within thirty (30) calendar days, Customer will be invoiced for the price of the
replacement part (P/N 6F9560V01731 and/or 6F9560V01831 and/or
P/N 6F9560V01931 and/or 6F9560V02031).

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL NOTES
a) Place an identification tag on all components that
are re-usable, including the attaching hardware that
has been removed to gain access to the modification
area and adequately protect them until their later re-
use.
b) Shape the cables in order to prevent interference
with the structure and the other existing installations,
using where necessary suitable lacing cords and
plastic cable tiedown.
c) During the installation of bonding braids or
components requiring grounding, clean the surface
structure in order to obtain a good ground contact.
d) Exposed thread surface and nut must be protected
using a layer of tectyl according to MIL-C-16173
grade I.
e) All lengths are in mm.
PART I
1. In accordance with AMP DM 69-A-00-20-00-00A-120A-A, prepare the helicopter on
ground for a safe maintenance. Disconnect the battery, all electrical power sources and/or
the external power supply.
WARNING
IF IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO INSTALL A NEW FLOAT
ASSY WITHIN THE COMPLIANCE TIME, FLOAT AND
LIFE RAFT SYSTEM MUST BE INHIBITED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH ANNEX B.
NOTE
Repeat the following steps 2 and 3 for all the affected
fwd float assemblies left/right.
2. In accordance with AMP DM 69-A-95-65-03-00A-520A-A or AMP DM 69-A-95-65-04-00A-
520A-A (as applicable), remove the affected aft float with life raft assy and send it back to
Leonardo so to comply with DART SB N°23-2.

NOTE
An aft float with life raft assy is considered serviceable if
its S/N does NOT belong to the list shown in Table 1
(ref. to Fig. 1) OR, for the S/N is present in Table 1, if a
letter “R” is marked after the S/N.
3. In accordance AMP DM 69-A-95-65-03-00A-720A-A or AMP DM 69-A-95-65-04-00A-
720A-A (as applicable), reinstall a serviceable aft float with life raft assy.
4. Return the helicopter to flight configuration and record for compliance with Part I of this
Service Bulletin on the helicopter logbook.
5. Gain access to My Communications section on Leonardo WebPortal and compile the
“Service Bulletin Application Communication”.
As an alternative, send the attached compliance form to the following mail box:

3. In accordance with AMP DM 69-A-95-65-01-00A-720A-A, AMP DM 69-A-95-65-02-00A-
720A-A, AMP DM 69-A-95-65-03-00A-720A-A or AMP DM 69-A-95-65-04-00A-720A-A
(as applicable), reinstall a serviceable fwd float or aft float with life raft assy (as applicable).
4. Return the helicopter to flight configuration and record for compliance with Part II of this
Service Bulletin on the helicopter logbook.
