 1. PLANNING INFORMATION
    A. EFFECTIVITY
       All AB139/AW139 helicopters from S/N 31005 to S/N 31157 (except S/N 31007), from
       S/N 31201 to S/N 31398 and from S/N 41201 to S/N 41293 (except S/N 41237)

    B. COMPLIANCE
       Part I
Within one hundred (100) FH or one (1) month from receipt of this Service Bulletin,
whichever comes first, and then every twenty-five (25) FH until part II is applied.
       Part II
        • Immediately after accomplishment of part I, if damages on sensing element beyond
acceptable limits are found during the accomplishment of part I of this Service
           Bulletin.
        • Within one hundred (100) FH or one (1) month, whichever comes first, after first
accomplishment of part I, if either interference without damages between firewall
reinforcements and sensing element is detected or an acceptable damage on
sensing element is found during the accomplishment of part I of this Service Bulletin.
        • Within fifteen hundred (1500) FH or at first engine removal, whichever comes first,
after first accomplishment of part I, if interference is not detected and damages on
sensing element are not found during the accomplishment of part I of this Service

    C. CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS
       N.A.
    D. REASON
This Service Bulletin is issued to provide the necessary instructions to modify fire
detection sensing element installation, thus preventing possible interference with the
       firewall reinforcements.
                                                                                   S.B. N°139-468

      E. DESCRIPTION
Following some events of chafing between the engine fire detection system sensing
element and the reinforcements introduced by firewalls retro modification P/N
3G7106P06011 or repair drawing P/N 3G0203P00311, this Service Bulletin provides
the instructions to ensure the appropriate clearance between the parts.
In particular, part I of this Service Bulletin prescribes a visual inspection of the affected
area that has to be repeated every twenty-five FH, in case interference between
firewall reinforcements and sensing element is found, until accomplishment of part II.
Part II provides instructions to implement an improved design (fire detection LH and
RH retromod P/N 3G2610P00211), installing a new bracket between sensing element
and firewall reinforcement, in order to increase clearance and to prevent any possible
         interference issue.
      F. APPROVAL
The technical content of this Service Bulletin is approved under the authority of DOA
nr. EASA.21.J.005. For helicopters registered under other Aviation Authorities, before
applying the Service Bulletin, applicable Aviation Authority approval must be checked
         within Leonardo Helicopters customer portal.
E.A.S.A. states mandatory compliance with inspections, modifications or technical
directives and related time of compliance by means of relevant Airworthiness
         Directives.
If an aircraft listed in the effectivity embodies a modification or repair not LHD certified
and affecting the content of this Service Bulletin, it is responsibility of the
Owner/Operator to obtain a formal approval by Aviation Authority having jurisdiction on
the aircraft, for any adaptation necessary before incorporation of the present Service
         Bulletin.
      G. MANPOWER
To comply with this Service Bulletin the following MMH are deemed necessary:
         Part I: approximately one (1) MMH;
Part II: approximately ten (10) MMH.
MMH are based on hands-on time and can change with personnel and facilities
         available

 3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
                                               GENERAL NOTES
                         a) Place an identification tag on all components that
are re-usable, including the attaching hardware that
has been removed to gain access to the
modification area and adequately protect them until
                             their later re-use.
                         b) Exercise extreme care during drilling operations to
prevent instruments, cables and hoses damage.
                         c) After drilling, remove all swarf and sharp edges.
Apply on bare metal a light film of primer unless the
hole is used for ground connection.
                         d) Lenghts in the figures are in mm.
 PART I
 1. In accordance with DM 39-A-00-20-00-00A-120A-A, prepare the helicopter on ground for
a safe maintenance. Disconnect the battery, all electrical power sources and/or the
      external power supply.
 2. Prepare access to the inspection area on the left side as follows:
2.1 Put the Platform (GG-01-00), or an approved alternative, adjacent to the left side
               of the fuselage.
2.2 Open the access door (461AL). Refer to AMP, see DM 39-A-06-41-00-00A-010A-
               A.
 3. Prepare access to the inspection area on the right side as follows:
3.1 Put the Platform (GG-02-00), or an approved alternative, adjacent to the right
               side of the fuselage.
3.2 Open the access door (462AR). Refer to AMP, see DM 39-A-06-41-00-00A-
               010A-A.
 4. With reference to figure 1, perform a visual inspection of the fire detection system
sensing element for possible interference with the firewall reinforcements and damage.
4.1 In case of no findings or if a scratch is found on the sensing element with a depth
of 0.1 mm or lower, go to step 5.
4.2 If a scratch is found on the sensing element with a depth higher than 0.1 mm,
               perform following steps:
4.2.1 Remove the damaged sensing element. Refer to AMP, see DM 39-A-

3.2 Remove the FMM according to the engine maintenance manual (see chapter
             73.20.03, paragraph 5.A).
3.3 Install clamp P/N 7C31-1AA on new sensing element bracket P/N
             3G2610A00551 using two rivets P/N MS20615-4M3R.
                                              CAUTION
Make sure that there is clearance between the firewall
reinforcement and the sensing element new routing
when positioning the bracket, according to figure 2
                        section C-C.
                                                  NOTE
It is allowed to temporarily disconnect the sensing
element from clamps near the firewall reinforcement, if
required to have an easier access to the work area.
3.4 Install the sensing element bracket P/N 3G2610A00551 on the firewall
reinforcement using two rivets P/N NAS9307M-4-01.
3.5 Fix the sensing element with sensor bushing P/N NSA5592-01 on the clamp in
             the new position.
3.6 Install the FMM according to the engine maintenance manual (see chapter
             73.20.03, paragraph 5.B).
3.7 Install the Number 1 starter generator according to AMP DM 39-A-24-31-01-00A-
             720A-A.
 4. Prepare access to the work area on the right side as follows:
