1. PLANNING INFORMATION

A. EFFECTIVITY
AW139 helicopters S/N 31571, 31579, 31586 and 31590.

At Customer's option.

C. CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS

D. REASON
This Service Bulletin is issued in order to provide the necessary instructions on how to
complete the installation of the FLIR SS380HDc according to TFU variant
P/N 3G9350P02211.

E. DESCRIPTION
The FLIR SS380HDc TFU variant P/N 3G9350P02211 replaces the Turret FLIR Unit
(TFU) P/N 3290004-638 with the TFU P/N 3290008-7007.
With respect to the TFU general characteristics of the FLIR 380HD, the new one is
lighter and smaller than the previous. The new TFU will be positioned under the nose
of the helicopter, in the same position of the other TFU. The structural and electrical
provisions already installed can be used for the installation of the new TFU.
The following three lasers are installed in the TFU:
Laser Pointer/Illuminator (class 3b-4)
Eye-Safe Laser Rangefinder (class 1)

Covert Active Laser Illuminator (class 4).



NOTE
Supplement n°43 of RFM is dedicated to kit FLIR
SS380HDc and contains information about limitations,
procedures and performance data related to this kit.

F. APPROVAL
The technical content of this Service Bulletin is approved under the authority of DOA
nr. EASA.21.J.005. For helicopters registered under other Aviation Authorities, before
applying the Service Bulletin, applicable Aviation Authority approval must be checked
within Leonardo Helicopters customer portal.

EASA states mandatory compliance with inspections, modifications or technical
directives and related time of compliance by means of relevant Airworthiness
Directives.
If an aircraft listed in the effectivity embodies a modification or repair not LHD certified
and affecting the content of this Service Bulletin, it is responsibility of the
Owner/Operator to obtain a formal approval by Aviation Authority having jurisdiction on
the aircraft, for any adaptation necessary before incorporation of the present Service
Bulletin.

G. MANPOWER
To comply with this Service Bulletin twenty (20) MMH are deemed necessary.
MMH are based on hands-on time and can change with personnel and facilities
available.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL NOTES
a) Place an identification tag on all components that
are re-usable, including the attaching hardware that
has been removed to gain access to the
modification area and adequately protect them until
their later re-use.
b) Protect properly all those equipment not removed
from area affected by the modification during
installation procedure.
c) Let the adhesive cure at room temperature for at
least 24 hours, unless otherwise specified.
d) All lengths are in mm.

1. In accordance with AMP DM 39-A-00-20-00-00A-120A-A, prepare the helicopter on


ground for a safe maintenance. Disconnect the battery, all electrical power sources
and/or the external power supply.
2. With reference to Figure 3 Detail A, remove the lower panel P/N 3G5331A19231; keep
hardware for later reuse.
3. With reference to Figure 2 Isoview 1, check the installation of the vendor identification
labels on the TFU P/N 3290008-7007.
4. With reference to Figure 2 Isoview 1, apply the identification plate P/N A016A004B1 on
the TFU P/N 3290008-7007.
5. With reference to Figure 2 Isoview 1 and in accordance with
AMP DM 39-A-11-00-01-00A-720A-A, apply the decal P/N AW003DBHL003E01H on the
TFU P/N 3290008-7007.

NOTE
If necessary, apply braided sleeves EN6049-006 on
electrical cables to protect the areas where chafing and
contact with structure can occur.
6. Install the TFU P/N 3290008-7007 as described in the following procedure:

NOTE
The QDD upper assy and lower assy are parts of the
quick disconnect device P/N QDD-1.
6.1 With reference to Figure 2 Isoview 2, install the QDD LWR assy on the TFU
P/N 3290008-7007 by means of n°8 screws P/N NAS1351C4H16.

6.2 With reference to Figure 2 Isoview 2, torque the screws to 6.35Nm; secure the
hardware by means of safety wire P/N MS20995C32.
6.3 Install the four handles, supplied with the TFU, on the TFU P/N 3290008-7007.
6.4 With reference to Figure 3 Detail B, hold the TFU using the four handles and lift it
until the LWR plate assy is against the upper plate.
6.5 With reference to Figure 3 Detail B and C, slowly turn the TFU toward the LOCK
position indicated on the bottom plate.
6.6 With reference to Figure 3 Detail B, install the QDD quick pin.
6.7 With reference to Figure 3 Detail C, torque the locking bolt to 5.6Nm.
6.8 Remove the four handles from the TFU.
6.9 With reference to Figure 4 Detail D, connect the electrical connectors A453P1,
A453P2, A453P3, A453P4 to the relevant TFU connectors.
6.10 With reference to Figure 4 Detail D1, install the bonding strap
P/N 999-7000-09-118 to the TFU by means of existing hardware.
6.11 In accordance with AMP DM 39-A-20-00-00-00A-711A-A, tighten the screw
P/N MS35207-260 to the standard torque value.
6.12 With reference to Figure 4 Detail E, remove the indicated bracket
P/N 3G5331A07851.
6.13 With reference to Figure 4 Detail E, drill n°4 holes thru bracket
P/N 3G5331A65451 and install n°4 nutplates P/N MS21071-08 by means of n°8
rivets P/N MS20426AD3.
6.14 With reference to Figure 4 Detail E, install the bracket P/N 3G5331A65451 by
means of existing hardware.
6.15 With reference to Figure 5 Bottom View, trim RH LWR panel P/N 3G5331A20451
coordinating with the hinge bracket RH P/N 3G5331A05452; re-identify the panel
into P/N 3G5331P01051.
6.16 With reference to Figure 5 Bottom View, trim LH LWR panel P/N 3G5331A45731
coordinating with the hinge bracket LH P/N 3G5331A05352.
6.17 With reference to Figure 5 Section H-H close the indicated panel hole by means
of n°2 plies of fiberglass and adhesive EA934NA; re-identify the panel into
P/N 3G5331P00931.
6.18 With reference to Figure 5 Detail F and in accordance with AMP
DM 39-B-93-55-09-00A-720A-K, install the RH LWR panel P/N 3G5331P01051
by means of existing hardware.
6.19 With reference to Figure 5 Detail G and in accordance with AMP
DM 39-B-93-55-08-00A-720A-K , install the LH LWR panel P/N 3G5331P00931
by means of existing hardware.

7. In accordance with applicable steps of AMP DM 39-B-93-55-00-00A-369A-K, perform
the bonding check of the TFU.
8. If the bonding values are out of the acceptable limits, do the operations that follow:
8.1 Make sure that bonding surfaces are cleaned.
8.2 In accordance with applicable steps of AMP DM 39-B-93-55-00-00A-369A-K,
repeat the bonding check of the TFU.

NOTE
Cut the profile of the gasket P/N A519A-A000 to adapt
it to the outline of the TFU.
8.3 If bonding values are still out of the acceptable limits, remove the TFU and re-
install it interposing a conductive gasket P/N A519A-A000 between the TFU and
the structure.
9. In accordance with AMP DMs 39-B-93-55-08-00A-720A-K and
DM 39-B-93-55-09-00A-720A-K install the TFU covers.
10. Remark the kit so obtained as “4G9350F01111” on the Chart A.
11. In accordance with weight and balance changes, update the Chart A (see Rotorcraft
Flight Manual, Part II, section 6).
12. Return the helicopter to flight configuration and record for compliance with this Service
Bulletin on the helicopter logbook.
13. Send the attached compliance form to the following mail box:
