Nausicaa

Notes
Nausicaa is a lightweight cropped summer raglan top with short rolled sleeves. It's a
simple, beginner friendly knit to venture into garment knitting. With little eyelets and
twisted ribbing details, it will flatter any type of yarn : think speckles, linen or cotton
blends. Easy to modify, it can also serve as a canvas for more experienced knitters who
want a relaxing and quickly rewarding project.
The pattern gives instructions on how to use however much yarn you have so you can
easily adapt the length to your body and style preference. Make it cropped, long, add
sleeves : change it however you like !

Yarn :
350 (380 / 400 / 425 / 500), 600 (650 / 750/ 850 / 950) meters
385 (416 / 437 / 465 / 547), 656 (711 / 820 / 930 / 1040) yards
of fingering weight yarn.
Sample was knit with Cosmic Strings Sock Yarn in Nausicaa.
These recommendations are for a very cropped top : a longer body will require more.

Needles :
Main Fabric : 3.75 mm (US 5) circular needles with appropriate length to knit in the round
and magic loop or DPNs.
Ribbing : 3.25 mm (US 3) circular needles with appropriate length to knit in the round
or sizes required to get gauge

Gauge :
22.5 st x 30 rnds per 10 cm – 4" with larger needles in stockinette stitch after blocking

This gauge makes a very drapey, light fabric in fingering weight. You might find that you
prefer a denser look with a heavier yarn, so don't hesitate to try a sport or a DK. This is
safer than knitting a different size at a tighter gauge.

Notions :
Stitch markers, tapestry needle and scissors
Stitch holder or scrap yarn to put sleeves stitches on hold
Row counter recommended

Techniques used :
Top down in the round Raglan shaping with simple increases
Twisted ribbing, eyelets
Rolled sleeves edges
Pattern includes written instructions

Finishing :
Knit 1 round. Weave in all ends and block gently.
Ribbing :
The ribbing is made of two equal parts : if
you want to make the hem longer, you can
weigh your yarn beforehand to check when
you've used about half of it. Keep at least 8
times the circumference of the body to
bind-off.

Switch to smaller needles.
