III- TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCEDURE
PRELIMINARY
1. Greetings
2. Prayer
3. Checking of attendance
4. Classroom management
Before we proceed to our topic, let us have an
activity. This activity is called “GUESS THE
PICTURE.” I will group you into three and I will give
one picture to every group. All the members of the
group will give their idea and afterwards, one will
be chosen to present their gathered ideas in front
of the class.
A. Activating Prior Knowledge These are the following pictures for every group.
Group 1. Group 2.
2. Feedback
The teacher will ask the students the following
question before she proceed to her new lesson.
1. What are the basic categories of cleaning
supplies used in households?
2. What are some eco-friendly alternatives to
traditional cleaning supplies?
B. Establishing Purpose of the 1. Lesson Purpose
Lesson TOPIC: Cleaning Supplies
Presentation of the Objectives
Class, kindly read the objectives.
At the end of the lesson, the students will be
able to:
1. Identify the name of various cleaning
equipment
2. Explain the uses of cleaning equipment; and
3. Promote Safe and Effective Use of Cleaning
Supplies
Unlocking difficulties
Contamination-refers to the presence of harmful or
unwanted substances in a particular environment,
material, or system.
Surfactant-is a substan ce that lowers the surface
tension between two substances, such as between a
liquid and a solid, or between two liquids.
Detergent-is a cleaning agent that helps to remove
dirt, grease, and stains from surfaces or fabrics.
C. Developing and Deepening 1. Explicitation
Understanding Cleaning supplies are products used to clean and
maintain the hygiene of various environments, from
homes and offices to industrial settings. These supplies
help remove dirt, dust, stains, and harmful
microorganisms, ensuring a clean and safe
environment.
Importance of Cleaning Supplies:
1. Health and Hygiene: Cleaning supplies
help to eliminate harmful bacteria, viruses,
and allergens, reducing the risk of illness and
infections. Regular cleaning helps maintain a
hygienic environment, especially in places
like kitchens, bathrooms, and healthcare
facilities.
2. Preventing the Spread of Germs: Proper
disinfecting and sanitizing help reduce the
spread of contagious diseases, especially in
high-touch areas like doorknobs,
countertops, and electronics.
3. Enhancing Comfort and Well-being: A
clean and organized space is more
comfortable to live or work in. It helps
reduce stress, promotes productivity, and
creates a more pleasant environment.
4. Maintaining Property Value: Regular
cleaning and proper maintenance protect
surfaces, furniture, and equipment from
long-term damage, preserving their
appearance and function.
5. Aesthetics: Cleaning helps maintain a
visually appealing space by removing dirt,
grime, and stains, creating a welcoming
atmosphere.
Promoting the safe and effective use of
cleaning supplies is essential to ensure the
health and well-being of individuals, as well as to
protect the environment. Here are some strategies
to promote safe and effective cleaning practices:
1. Read and Follow Product Labels
Encourage the use of cleaning supplies by
following the manufacturer's instructions on the
label. The label typically provides important
information about:
Dilution guidelines – Some cleaning
products need to be diluted before use.
Safety precautions – Warnings about
proper ventilation, protective gear, or how to
handle spills or exposure.
Storage recommendations – Instructions
for safely storing cleaning products out of
reach of children or pets.
2. Use the Right Product for the Right Job
Using the appropriate cleaning supply for each
surface or task improves effectiveness and
prevents damage:
Multipurpose cleaners are great for
general cleaning, but specialized cleaners
(like glass cleaners or disinfectants) work
better on specific tasks.
Check compatibility with materials (e.g.,
using non-abrasive cleaners on sensitive
surfaces like wood or marble).
The teacher allows the students to identify first the
picture and explain its function and give feedback
afterwards.
1. Liquid detergent-is a type of cleaning product
that is used primarily for washing clothes, dishes,
or surfaces. It is a solution of surfactants, water,
and other ingredients that help to break down
dirt, grease, and stains. The liquid form makes it
easy to dissolve in water and spread evenly on
surfaces or fabrics.
2. Water- is one of the most important
components in cleaning. It is used as a
solvent in most cleaning processes because
it can dissolve a wide range of substances,
such as dirt, oils, and grime, making it easier
to wash away contaminants.
3. Cleaning detergent-is a substance used to
clean various surfaces, remove stains, and
break down dirt, grease, and grime.
Detergents typically contain surfactants,
which reduce the surface tension of water,
allowing it to penetrate dirt and oil, making
cleaning more effective.
4. Paper towels-are absorbent sheets of paper
that are commonly used for cleaning, drying, and
wiping up spills. They are disposable and provide
a convenient way to clean and maintain
surfaces, especially in environments where
hygiene and cleanliness are important.
5. Scrubbing foam is a type of cleaning product
that produces foam when applied to surfaces. It
is often used for cleaning stubborn dirt, stains,
grease, and grime. The foam is typically made
from a mixture of surfactants, detergents, and
sometimes abrasives, which help lift dirt away
from surfaces, making cleaning easier and more
effective.
6. Gloves are protective coverings worn on the
hands, typically made from materials such as
rubber, latex, vinyl, or nitrile. They serve as a
barrier between the skin and various substances,
including cleaning products, harsh chemicals,
dirt, germs, or contaminants.
2. Worked Example
How do you choose the right cleaning product for
different surfaces?
3. Lesson Activity
Students will be grouped again into two groups for
another activity. This activity is called “Pictionary”. One
member from each group is going to come in front and
draw the tool that I give to them. You will let your
groupmates identify what you are drawing by writing
their answer on the board. You only have 80 seconds to
draw and the first group to correctly guess the word
wins. Every correct answer is 10 points.
These are the words that they are going to draw.
1. Scrubbing foam
2. Liquid detergent
3. Paper towel
4. Cleaning detergent
D. Making Generalizations 1. Learners’ Takeaways
The teacher will ask the learners:
1. What is the difference between a disinfectant
and a sanitizer?
2. How can cleaning supplies be stored safely to
prevent accidents?
3. How can you safely dispose of cleaning products
that are no longer needed?
1. Reflection on Learning
The teacher will ask the learners to explain the
importance of cleaning equipment. The teacher will call
selected learners to share their answers. How does this
lesson help you to better understand the importance of
keeping your home clean and organized while making
sure the safety and efficiency?
IV. EVALUATING LEARNING: FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT AND TEACHER’S REFLECTION
