Making a wedding cake from scratch, especially from home, can seem like
a difficult task. The good news is, with a few key tools the process can be
made a lot easier!
Below I've outlined the specialist equipment required in this course to
successfully create a wedding cake made from buttercream.
1 - Cake Pans: For the wedding cake in this course, I used three cake
tins for each tier (3 x 12 inch cake tins, 3 x 10 inch cake tins and 3 x 8
inch cake tins). You can use whichever sizes you like, but I would
highly recommend having more than 1 of each size as this will save
you an incredible amount of time (ideally you want to have the same
number of cake tins for the number of layers per tier - e.g. in my
case I had three cake layers per tier, so I used three cake tins per
tier).
2 - Mixer (either a hand mixer or bench mixer), with a whisk
attachment.
3 - Strong turntable
4 - Large offset spatula
5 - Cake scraper
6 - Large cake board (you want the size of the cake board to be
atleast 4 inches larger than the size of your largest tier (e.g. if your
bottom/largest tier is 10 inches wide, then I would recommend
buying a 14inch cake board).
7 - Oven tray to help transport larger cake layers when decorating
(this is only necessary if your cake tiers are 12 inches or larger).
If you are interested in purchasing some of the equipment above and are
not quite sure where to find them, then I have a YouTube video you can
check out that has links in the description box to these products.
