List of recommended materials and tools:
Two skeins of main color Dolphin baby by Himalaya or
any similar yarn (for a mustard toy I used Banny Baby
    Wolans 28)
Half of a skein white or milky yarn color Dolphin baby by
Himalaya for the muzzle and the legs + 50 cm pink yarn to
    mark the mouth
One skein of black fluffy yarn, you will brush it (I choose
Lotus Cotton Grass Stretch by Kamteks, you may choose
Cotton Grass by Kamteks, mohair Classic by Alize or similar)
Some black yarn to make the nose (Jeans by YarnArt or
    Cotton Gold Plus by Alize)
1 skein Puffy by Alize for the body (100gr/ 9.2 m)
Round hat elastic (3 mm) 50 cm
   A plastic toggle (double hole)
   Toy eyes d. 25mm
   Toy stuffing (any polyfill fiber)
   Crochet hook size 4 mm
Strong thread and wide-eyed needle to decorate the eyes
A cut of hook and loop (hooked part) 10 cm length – to
 brush the ears
   False eyelashes (optionally)
Abbreviations (US crochet terms):
     MR-magic ring
     SC-single crochet
INC-single crochet increase (crochet 2 SC into one stitch)
DEC-single crochet decrease (close 2 stitches together grabbing
     front loops only)
     ST-stitches
     CH-chain stitches
     SL ST-slip stitch
     HDC – half double crochet
shift stitch – this stitch helps to keep symmetry. It is a normal SC.
Sign *- means repeat the sequence of stitches mentioned in
     brackets.
     E.G.:
     (1 SC, INC)*3 = repeat 3 times

2 SC, INC, 1 SC, INC, 1 SC, INC
It may help to crochet the baby caracal the way shown in the VIDEO
5Just a note: if you do not have enough experience in working with
plush yarn, crochet slowly and attentively.
It is easy to crochet but you can’t frog it many times. If you notice a
mistake, frog the round at once, you can’t do it later because the yarn
loses its shape.
Head
Use size 4 mm crochet hook to crochet the head, if you crochet loose it may help
to use size 3 mm or 3.5 mm not to make wide gaps between stitches
Start working in white yarn color.
I highly recommend watching the VIDEO, to crochet the rounds from 1 to 8
correctly.
1. CH8, into the 2nd stitch from hook now continue working along the
chain
2. 6 SC, 3 SC into one stitch, 6 SC, INC = 17st, place a stitch marker to
mark last stitch of the increase (this is the end of the round)

If you use safety eyes, install them into the stitches you marked:
Install the eyes in the 9th round (it is placed right above the round where
you made 12 increases)
install a back of the eye -
into a gap between the 18th and the
19th stitches (strictly in the 9th round)
into a gap between the 31st and the
32nd stitches (strictly in the 9th
round)
Do not fasten off the eyes right now;
make sure that they are placed
symmetrically. Make changes if it is
necessary.

Cut the yarn and hide remained yarn tail inside the head.
Eyes and muzzle sculpting
You will need a cut of plush yarn main color (50 cm length). You may
choose any strong thread.
Step three rounds from the center of
the muzzle and place 2 pins with the
distance 3 stitches between the pins.
All sculpting process is shown in the
VIDEO
It may help to repeat sculpting one
more time.
When sculpting is done, use white
plush yarn to close orange yarn color.
Watch the VIDEO 2.43min
Eyes decoration
All decoration process is shown in the VIDEO
I recommend using main yarn color to decorate the eyes (the same yarn
you crochet the head)+ white plush yarn, and any black yarn similar to
the indicated gauge 100gr /120 or 150 m. I choose Jeans by YarnArt.
Just a note: it may help to drop
some super glue to fasten off
the eyes. Work very neatly,
each drop of glue is seen on
eyes surface.
When you embroider the
whites and the eyelids,
embroider black stripes as
pictured.
Watch the VIDEO from 3.30 min.
Eyelashes
It may help to attach the lashes but I recommend doing it before you
decorate the eyes.
All process is shown in
the VIDEO another
toy is used as an
example (from 0.00 to
6.00 min
Please note: work neatly when you glue lashes
P.S. If you glue lashes the toy is intended for children aged 5+ (please keep it in
mind).
          Nose embroidering
          Place pins to mark embroidering:
place 2 pins in the 1st orange round
(red pins), and one more pin in the
          center, stepping one white round
          down.
          All embroidering process is shown
          in the VIDEO
Work neatly, try to make a small narrow
nose, the smaller nose the cute the muzzle
          of the toy.
Embroider along the stitches, grabbing each
                        stitch. One lower stitch.
It may help to use any
black yarn to decorate
the nose, choose yarn
similar to indicated
gauge 100gr /120-150m.
I choose Jeans by
YarnArt.
P.S. I do not recommend
using black plush yarn
because the nose may
look weird.
If you make a white baby lynx, I recommend
making neat and small nose and it may help to
embroider two short stripes up from the nose (I
          mean one stitch up).
When you finish the nose
embroidering, place pins to mark
the mouth:
Step 3 stitches from sculpting from
each side (blue pins), and two green
pins in the middle.
Watch the VIDEO from 3.30 min
Mouth
Mouth crocheting and sewing is shown in the VIDEO
Pattern:
1. Leave a yarn tail about 10 cm length
and make CH7
2. turn into the 2nd stitch from hook,
crochet 6 HDC
Cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail
(about one meter length)
Place pins: two pins right under the
smile (approx. into the places where
the edges of the sculpting are placed)
And one more pin in the middle where
two yarn colors meet.
Sew the mouth along the marked
places.
It may help to sew the mouth together
from both sides to keep neat shape
(pink pins) grabbing one stitch from
each side.
Watch the VIDEO from 3.22 min
Crochet a tongue.
Leave a yarn tail 10 cm length and
crochet:
CH2, turn into the 2nd stitch from hook,
1 SC, leave a yarn tail 10 cm length, cut
and fasten off the yarn.
Attach the tongue to the mouth.
Watch the VIDEO from 4.33 min
Hide all remained yarn tails inside the head foundation, fasten off and
cut.
Embroider spots on the muzzle
All process is shown in the VIDEO
Place 3 pins on one and the opposite side of
the muzzle. Make sure that they are placed
symmetrically.
Use the same yarn you used to embroider the
nose.
When embroidering is done,
fasten off the yarn in the
foundation of the head.
.
Fluffy head
decoration
Step 1 or 2 rounds up from the
eyes and place pins at an angle to
mark the stripes location.
All process is shown in the VIDEO
Use fluffy yarn (fold it in half).
Pull the yarn tight it will help you to brush
the stripes easy
Now when you finish embroidering, it is
time to do brushing.
Do not brush the stripes near the eyes well,
                              other stripes must be fluffier.
Ears
VIDEO on how to crochet and connect the ears
At first crochet 2 parts in white color
 1. CH3, turn into the 2nd stitch from hook
 2. INC, INC = 4st, CH1, turn
 3. INC, 2 SC, INC = 6st, CH1, turn
 4. 6 SC, CH1, turn
 5. INC, 4 SC, INC = 8st, CH1, turn
 6. 8 SC, CH1, turn
 7. 8 SC, CH1, turn
 8. INC, 6 SC, INC = 10st, CH1, turn
 9. 10 SC, CH1, turn
 10. 10 SC, CH1, turn
 11. INC, 8 SC, INC = 12st, CH1, turn
 12. 12 SC
Now without turning the work: crochet SC along 3 sides of the ears,
making 2 increases into the corners (crochet 2 SC into one stitch)
crochet to flat side, make a slip stitch to finish.
Crochet the following way: 10 SC, INC, INC, 10 SC, SL ST
Cut and fasten off the yarn.
Follow the same pattern to crochet fluffy parts.
Watch the VIDEO from 6.25 min
If you choose Lotus Cotton Grass stretch by Kamteks, take only one
thread and crochet loose. Choose the same crochet hook size you used
for plush yarn.
If you choose thinner yarn, fold it in half (to get two or three threads)
and follow the same pattern.
Your aim is to make the ear size equal to the plush one.
If fluffy part of the ear is shorter, you will
need to crochet several more rounds (12 SC
in each round) until you get the length you
need. I made one more round.
Watch the VIDEO from 7.25 min
When black and white parts of the ear are
equal, now without turning: crochet SC
along three sides of the ear, making 2
increases in the corners (crochet 2 SC in
one stitch) crochet to flat side, make a slip stitch to finish.
Work the same way as you do for white part.
Do not cut the yarn when
you finish black parts.
Connect two parts (white and black) grabbing back loops only. Watch
the VIDEO from 9.40 min
In details:
11 SC, 2 SC (grabbing black part only, leaving a gap between white and
black parts, skip 2 SC, and now continue grabbing stitches of both parts
11 SC, 1 SL ST
Now take black yarn.
Watch the VIDEO from 13.00 min.
Attach the yarn to a stitch between black and white parts.
1 round: 3 SC on white part and 3 SC on black part
2 round: 6 SC
3 round: make 3 decreases to close the opening,
4 round: now you will need to make the tip of the ear longer, so
crochet single crochet, turning the work after each SC. You will
need to crochet 4 or 6 SC.
Black tip of the ear should be about 2 or 3 cm length (you can do it
shorter or longer).
When you finish the tip of the ear, tie all remained yarn tails inside the
                               ear.
When you finish, brush the ear well.
     Sew the ears
All process is shown in the VIDEO
It is the most difficult step of head
decoration. It will influence on how
your finished work looks. Watch the
video attentively and read my
notes.
Bend inner tip of the ear to the
middle and sew.
Now find the places on head to sew the ears.
Place them stepping 6 rounds up from the eyes.
Keep the distance 10 or 12 stitches between the ears, stepping 6
stitches from the decoration on each side. Please note: when you sew
the ears they become closer to each
other, just keep it in mind and leave
several extra stitches between the ears.
You may change the ears location as
you like best
Make sure that side parts of the ears
(where you made the folds) are placed
towards you and the tips of the ears
are strictly placed up.
At first sew front side and then sew
inner side.
Bend them and place at an angle
down to back part. White part is seen
in front a little.
Use an invisible seam, watch the
video (grab a stitch of the ear, then a
stitch of the head and alternate
them). As a result, the seam is not
                                  seen.
When you sew the 2nd ear, make
sure that the parts are placed
symmetrically with the distance
10 or 12 stitches between the
ears.
Muzzle sculpting
Sometimes you may skip the step.
The nose of the baby caracal should look as pictured.
If the muzzle looks longer and the shape differs, you definitely need to
do sculpting.
Watch the VIDEO (another toy is shown as an example) and repeat
after me.

Count 17 stitches. I highly recommend watching the VIDEO
Basic part is a repetition of 5 rounds:
     1. Make 17 knit stitches
     2. Bind off 17 stitches (I mean you bind off 16, and the 17th
        stitch is on your fingers).
P.S. you always bind off stitches from opposite side from
        working yarn
     3. Draw 17 stitches through back loops of closed stitches
     4. Bind off 17 stitches
     5. Draw 17 stitches through back loops of closed stitches
Now repeat rounds from 1 to 5.
You make 7 braids this way + repetition of the 5th round
Final process is shown in the VIDEO
Final width of the body (folded in half) is about 20 or 23 cm, the length –
29 or 30 cm.
If you want to change the design, focus on my measures (standard
width of the finished body is about 20 or 23 cm, the length – 29 or 30
cm), this size is perfect for my PJ bags :)

When he body is finished, you just need to
make assembly
Attach the head
Place pins to mark:
   1. In front: a point right under the mouth
      where 2 yarn colors meet
   2. In back: the 12th round from the center
   3. Symmetrically from both sides
All pins are placed on bottom part of the head, make sure that back pin is not
placed too high; there is a chance that the head may look weird if you sew the
body too high.
You will crochet the body in the head.
Watch the VIDEO for more details
P.S. If you do not want to crochet the
head in the body, it may help not to bind
off the stitches on the neck and simply
sew the body on the head. Grab a loop of
the head and a loop of the body
alternately. I recommend grabbing loops
under the braids of the neck, so the design
is seen.
Connect the legs and the
body
  Front legs:
1. Place the legs on front side (from both
sides).
2. Lift up the leg and crochet SC to the braid
of the neck grabbing lower loops.
Example is shown in the VIDEO.
Connect the 2nd leg the same way, make sure that it is placed
symmetrically to the eyes and the nose.
Hide remained yarn tail inside the leg and drop some super glue to
fasten off.
Connect back legs and the body the same way:
1. Step 2 rounds up from the bottom of the body.
Place both legs along the edges (on front side of the body)
Hide remained yarn tail inside the leg and drop some super glue to
fasten off.
Connect the tail and
the body
Step 4 rounds up from bottom part of the
body (you may change the tail location),
find the middle and sew or crochet the tail
in the body, using remained yarn tail (you
did the same to connect the legs).
Put in hat elastic

If you are making a white baby lynx
It may help to embroider fluffy stripes on front legs surface
            Congrats!
You have just finished the pattern.
