Young Kraken

You will need:
Small quantity of worsted weight yarn
Tiny quantity of white yarn.
3.5mm hook
3mm hook
9mm red buttons x2
Fibrefill stuffing
Needle
Young kraken is worked in continuous rounds;
use a marker at the start of each round to tell
where you’re at in the pattern.
BODY AND TENTACLES:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring
Rnd 2: sc in each st (6)
Rnd 3: sc in each st (6)
Rnd 4: [sc in next 2 st, inc 1] 2 times (8)
Rnd 5: [sc in next 3 st, inc 1] 2 times (10)
Rnd 6: sc in each st (10) by Crafty and Devious
Rnd 7: [sc in next 4 st, inc 1] 2 times (12)
Rnd 8: [sc in next 5 st, inc 1] 2 times (14) craftyanddevious.wordpress.com
Rnd 9: [sc in next 6 st, inc 1] 2 times (16)
Rnd 10: [sc in next 7 st, inc 1] 2 times (18)
Rnd 11-13 : sc in each st (18)
Rnd 14: [sc in next st, dec 1] 6 times (12)
Rnd 15: [sc in next st, dec 1] 4 times (8)
Rnd 16: sc in each st (8)
Stuff through hole
Rnd 17: [sl st, ch 20-30*, sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc to end of chain] 8 times, sl 1. Fasten off.
*Vary the length of each tentacle by chaining between 20 and 30 st. It helps if you chain loosely
and sc into the back bumps, rather than the front of the stitches.

LEFT FIN:
This fin is made by crocheting down from the top, using 3mm hook.
Attach yarn at the 2nd round from the top. ch 1, sc in next 3 st, hdc in next 2 st, dc in next st, dc
and hdc in next st, sl st in next st, fasten off.
RIGHT FIN:
This fin is made crocheting up to the top, using 3mm hook.
Attach yarn at the opposite side of the bottom of the first fin (about round 10). ch 1, hdc and dc in
next st, dc in next st, hdc in the next 2 st, sc in the next 3 st, sl st in next st, fasten off.
FINISHING:
Weave in ends.
Sew on 9mm red buttons for eyes, between rounds 13 and 14.
Using white yarn, sew up hole to resemble teeth.
